Abstract

Reproduction of Endemic Fish Butini (Glossogobius matanensis) Based on Depth and Time in Towuti Lake. Butini fish (Glossogobius matanensis) belonging to the Gobiidae family and is one ofendemic fish in Towuti Lake and classified as demersal fish. Fishing activities and habitat quality changes tend to reduce butini stocks in Towuti Lake. Therefore, it needs to be protected of stocksfor sustainability. This research is to determine reproduction of endemic fish based on depth and time as basic data for the effort of conservation and domestication. Gonad maturity that was analyzed histologically obtained five maturity stages. Based on the diversity of egg size, especially in the gonad maturity stage (IV), it is indicated that butini fish are classified as partial spawner. Male and female fish gonad mature (50%) at 36.22 and 31.43 cm total length, respectively. October and March, an estimated spawning peak of butini fish in Towuti Lake held this month at a depth of 150m and 200 m. Fecundity of butini fish in gonad maturity stage (III and IV) between 11184-66305 eggs and 14922-81522 eggs, respectively. The highest mean of fecundity there in October (56,907 eggs) and the lowest was found in July (25,447 eggs). Fecundity of fish at 25 m-200 m depths ranging from 30.778-35.329 eggs. Keywords: Reproduction, endemic fish, Glossogobius matanensis, depth and time, Towuti Lake

Abstract

Lake Towuti is the largest lake in the Malili Complex covering the area of 560 km and 203 m in depth. Butini is an endemic and vulnerable fish species that consumed by the local people and have an important economic value. Various activities occured in the lake was thought to be the cause of decreasing fish populations. The objective of this study was to determine the growth and mortality of butini in Lake Towuti. This research was conducted in Lake Towuti for 12 months from Mei 2006 to April 2007.Fish samples obtained by using long lines with various number of hooks i.e. 8,10,12,14,and 16.Each depth (25, 50, 75, 100, 150, and 200 m) launched one long line unit in three zones (A, B, and C).Growth and fish mortality were calculated based on total length frequency data using FiSAT II software. The results showed that the longest size (46.20 cm) was the male found at a depth of -1,200(t-to)150 m in April in Zone C.The combined Von Bertalanffy’s growth pattern was of L(t)= 46,62 [1 - e ]. While the growth pattern for each male -0,950(t-to) -0,820(t-to) and female was L(t) =46,62 [1 - e ] and L(t)= 46,62 [1 - e ] respectively. The highest total mortality was found in Zone B (5.49 per year) occurred in female fish. The highest natural mortality was observed in Zone B (1.80 per year) occurred in male fish. The highest fishing mortality was recorded in zone B (4.08 per year) and found in female fish. The highest exploitation level was found in zone A (E = 0.76) recorded in female fish.Exploitation level of butini stock in Lake Towuti indicated over-fishing (E=0.56) recorded in Zone A.

Abstract

Abstract

As one of the hard structure in the fish body, the otolith, formed by calcium carbonat and arogonite could be usefull to count the growth and age of the fish. Thes purpose of this study is to know the growth pattern within spotted flying fish (Cypselurus poecilopterus), the relationship between otolith size increments with increments of length, weight of the species. By explorative method the growth data were took up from otolith then observed under ligth    microscope. The results showed that the cirle dark (opaque) and light lines (hyaline) were formed in the otolith. Otolith development of spotted flying showed some kinds of reproductive relationship, and spotted flying otolith showed that the development of this species is slow. Pola pertumbuhan ikan terbang bersifat allometrik.

Abstract

The world of education plays a significant role in the development of students. So, to facilitate the learning process for students is the main task of a teacher. For this reason, teachers are not only required to make the learning atmosphere comfortable and exciting. However, the teacher must also be able to improve maximum learning outcomes for students. This study aims to determine whether the application of interactive PowerPoint learning media in the classroom can help improve student's learning outcomes in class VIII on the material of the human movement system as well as research. In contrast, the object used in this research is the application of learning media using interactive PowerPoint media at Arrival Junior High School Kaima. The type of research used is classroom action research by applying two cycles of data collection obtained from observations of teacher activities and observations of student activities as well as tests before and after the action and documentation. The data analysis technique used in this study is a qualitative descriptive technique. Based on the study results, the class action that the researchers had carried out found that before the action was taken, the student's learning outcomes were 0%, or the number of students who had completed was absent. At the same time, there was an increase of 83.33% in the first cycle, and in the second cycle, again experienced an increase of 100%. This means that learning using interactive PowerPoint media is proven to help teachers improve learning outcomes in Kaima Adventist Junior High School class VIII students.

Abstract

Butini fish is a resource wealth of fauna found only in the East Complex Malili Luwu, South Sulawesi. The necessary information about the morphological characters (morphometric and meristic) to determine the management of fish resources. The purpose is to assess the diversity of populations based on morphometric meristik. Sampling is based on descriptive methods and fish samples taken to determine the diversity of phenotypes based on the depth of each morphometric character. Calculating morphometric characters using the main component analysis to obtain the correlation between the character and the grouping of individuals based on morphometric characters. Calculation meristik characters include the number of fingers, the number of fins and scales, namely the number of fingers of the dorsal fin, anal fin radius, the radius of the ventral fin, pectoral fin radius, the radius of the caudal fin, scales on the rib line, scales above the rib line, scales below the ribs, scales in front of the dorsal fins, scales on the cheeks, around the body scales, scales around the tail shaft. The analysis showed that the first two principal components contained the greatest information, with a cumulative range of 80%. All the characters' morphometric first role is a major component. The character who plays the main component of the length of the head in front of the eyes, long upper jaw, lower jaw length, high cheeks, and the length of the radius of a weak base ventral fins showed great correlation to the diversity of forms. Main components analysis also showed that butini fish, at any depth, showed no grouping. This suggests that the fish species observed was one (one unit of population). In calculating the value of phenotypic diversity of each character, butini generally fish in the lake Towuti show morphometric characters with the highest diversity value and the lowest given by the total length and high under the eyes. In the calculation of the formula derived characters meristik flipper fingers that D1, V-VI. D2. I, 8-11; dan D1, V-VI, D2. I, 8-10.

Abstract

Payangka fish (Ophieleotris aporos) is a fish that lives in freshwater and has the ability to survive in the midst of competition with other fishes that are very tough. This study aims to analyze the structure of payangka fish and the growth pattern of payangka fish in Lake Limboto. Fish samples were caught using a 2 cm net with a net length of 7 m and then a 1 m serok (sibusibu) with a total sample of 1003 fish. The results of the length structure analysis of payangka fish obtained a length range of 9.15 - 19.05cm with an average of 12.45 cm and the results of the weight structure analysis obtained a range of 9.27 - 47.97 grams with an average of 13.57 grams. The results of the analysis of the relationship between length and weight of payangka fish obtained allometric growth pattern (b = 2.92), b < 3 which means that weight gain is faster than length gain..
