Abstract

The mint plant (Mentha piperita L.) is one of the many aromatic herbal plants that produce essential oil commonly known as peppermint oil. Meanwhile, the soka flower plant (Ixora paludosa L.) is an ornamental plant that fills the planting elements with fast growth and beautiful, vigorous plants. This study aimed to assess the effect of lime insecticides combined with mint leaf extract (Mentha piperita L.) and soka flower extract (Ixora Paludosa L.) on red fire ants (Solenopsis invicta). This study used four red fire ant samples (Solenopsis invicta), which were divided into five treatment groups: X1 (75% mint leaf extract and 25% soka flower extract); X2 (75% soka flower extract and 25% mint leaf extract); X3 (50% soka flower extract and 50% mint leaf extract); Negative control (lime base); and Positive control (branded lime). The sample size for this study was 80 red fire ants (Solenopsis invicta), with each control group consisting of four fire ants, and the experiment was repeated four times. The Kruskal-Wallis test was used to analyze the data, revealing significant differences between the treatment groups. Therefore, the researchers concluded that the administration of 50% mint leaf extract and 50% soka flower extract effectively disrupted the activity of red fire ants

Abstract

Ranowangko II beach is famous for its beautiful beaches and is a natural habitat for macroalgae, including Caulerpa racemosa and Sargassum polycystum. Despite its great potential and abundance, information about the nutritional content of both types of algae, especially in the Ranowangko II beach area, is still limited. This study aimed to determine the nutritional content (water content, ash content, protein, lipid, crude fiber, carbohydrate) of green algae Caulerpa racemosa and brown algae Sargassum polycystum in Ranowangko II beach. The type of research used is descriptive quantitative to determine the proximate nutrient content of two types of algae tested by proximate analysis in the laboratory. Based on the study results, there were variations in the nutritional content of the two types of algae tested. Green algae Caulerpa racemosa has a moisture content of 71.29%, ash content of 6.90%, protein of 2.78%, fat of 1.34%, crude fiber of 3.53%, and carbohydrates of 17.69%. Brown algae Sargassum polycystum has a water content of 83.23%, ash content of 1.82%, protein of 9.93%, fat of 1.72%, crude fiber of 11.18%, and carbohydrates of 3.30%. The conclusion obtained after conducting this research is that Caulerpa racemosa (green algae) and Sargassum polycystum (brown algae) have different nutritional content.

Abstract

This research was carried out by looking at adapting a product to be developed to existing problems in the learning process, especially for learning media, which may have little impact on students. The development of flipcharts as a learning medium could be an effort that has a good impact on the continuity of learning activities. This research model uses research and development using stages 4 – D. The process of developing flipchart media is carried out until the dissemination stage. This model includes Devine (analysis), Design (Design), Develop (Development), and Dissemination. The Devine stage includes initial observations at the school where the research was conducted, namely at SMP Negeri 4 Bitung. This is then continued with the product design stage, including preparing materials and creating images arranged to convey ideas about the media that will be developed. In the next stage, product development is carried out, which includes assessments from material experts and media experts as well as with study field teachers to see whether a product is suitable for application in learning. The next stage is Dissemination, which includes trials on students, and this stage is carried out in small group trials of 5 to 20 students at SMP Negeri 4 Bitung. The results of the research carried out show that from the validation test, material experts got an average score of 80%, media experts got an average score of 80%, subject teachers got an average score of 84%, and from trials on Students obtained an increase in their test scores before the flipchart media was 65%, after the flipchart media the students' scores increased to 89%. So, it can be concluded that flipcharts as a learning medium are suitable for use and are adequate for application in learning.
