Abstract

The estimates from the experts of the World Health Organization (WHO) indicate that 50% of the 12 million world population die from coronary heart disease blood vessel disease. Low-Density Lipid (LDL) and High-Density Lipid (HDL) ratios are often calculated to estimate the risk of coronary heart disease. Zam-zam water is thought to be efficacious in reducing blood lipid profile levels. This study aims to know the effect of Zam-zam Water on the lipid profile (HDL LDL) on a white mouse (Rattus Novergicus). The type of this research is an experimental laboratory design with a pre-post control group conducted for 28 days. The subjects of this study were 25 Rattus norvegicus wistar strains, divided into five groups namely control (aquades) group and four treatment groups (concentrations of 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%). The data were obtained by measuring the level of LDL and HDL before and after receiving the treatment of Cholesterol Oxidase Para Aminophenazone (CHODPAP). Also, the data were analyzed using ANOVA test and paired t-test. The Anova analysis showed that the administration of Zam-zam water affected the level of HDL and LDL as proven by the significance of differences among study groups (p 0.05). It is obtained that zam-zam water is 100% proven to have the most influence on HDL and LDL levels. The analysis of paired T-test showed that there were significant differences before and after treatment (p 0.05). Therefore, it can be concluded that the administration of zam-zam water affected the level of HDL and LDL of Rattus norvegicus blood lipid profiles.

Abstract

Interferon-gamma (IFN-γ) is one of the central cytokines in the anti-carcinogenesis immune response. Black cumin seeds (BCS) have an active content of thymoquinone and unsaturated fatty acids with biological activity as immunomodulators. This study aimed to determine the effect of administration of BCS extract on IFN-γ secretion activity by DMBA-induced SD rat lymphocytes. In vivo experimental study on DMBA-induced SD rats, BCS extract was given with three doses for two weeks before being induced and five weeks during DMBA induction. IFN-γ levels in lymphocyte culture supernatants were determined by the ELISA method. The difference in IFN-γ levels between groups was analyzed by ANOVA test, the significance of 95%. The results showed that administration of BCS extract for 14 days did not affect cellular composition toward the edge of the test animal. BCS extract can increase IFN-γ secretion activity by DMBA-induced SD rat lymphocytes. Keywords: black cumin seed, IFN-γ; DMBA: immunomodulator, carcinogenesis.

Islam believes about the power of an evil spirit. It can invade and attack a person caused illness. Physical exam and laboratory finding can be normal. They need islamic specific praying to relieve their suffering. The research design is a cross sectional study. Subjects in this study are patients at Nur Hidayah Hospital in 2014 - 2019 to whom receiving Islamic specific praying (ruqyah syar’iyyah). There are 369 patients treated by Islamic specific praying, but in the beginning, there is no standardized recording. The complete data of 22 patient are collected and statistically analyzed. The medical diagnosis of the subjects is: gastrointestinal disorders (10; 45%); cephalgia-epilepsy (5; 22%) anxiety disorders (4; 18%), sexual disorders (3; 13%). The reaction of treatment is vomiting, headache, heat sensation, and delirium. After those kinds of reaction, the patient relief from suffering and cure their illness. It is studied the diagnostic profile of Islamic specific praying in Nur Hidayah Hospital. Ruqyah Syar’iyyah can be used as complementary treatment

Abstract

The limited-time to practice during practicum becomes a problem for students to have a good surgical skill. The home assignment of performing sutures, such as a simple interrupted sutures technique is expected to be a solution. A quasi-experimental study was carried out on a sample of 20 students, divided into two groups. Group A, consisting of 10 students, received a tutorial of a simple interrupted sutures technique and was given the assignment to do the sutures at home every day and the supervisor would check their assignment the next day, for seven days. Group B, consisting of 10 other students, only received a tutorial of a simple interrupted sutures technique with the opportunity to practice independently during practicum at skills laboratory. After one week, an assessment was made based on the time it takes for each student to make a simple interrupted sutures technique. The data were analyzed with an independent T-test. There were significant differences between pre and post practices in time consumed during suturing in group A (p<0,05). The average time for group A was 533 seconds on the first day and 335 seconds after the home assignment in a week. The average time for group B was 493 seconds on the first day and 450 seconds on evaluation day. There were no significant differences in group B (p>0,05). Home assignments could improve the speed of sutures skills. The home assignment effectively improves sutures skills for medical students, especially for the limited time of practicum conditions at skills laboratories

Abstract

ABSTRACT Chronic renal failure is a global problem, and there is a reciprocal relationship with cardiovascular disease. Cardiac arrest is one of the complications that can occur in patients with chronic renal failure. The study will look at whether chronic renal failure is a risk factor for cardiac arrest with chronic renal failure in patients in the ICU. This study used a cross-sectional analytical observational study design. The data taken was in the form of medical record data of patients with chronic renal failure in the ICU of PKU Muhammadiyah Gamping Hospital who experienced cardiac arrest without seeing the comorbidities of the disease. Total subjects amounted to 168 patients. To determine chronic renal failure as a risk factor for cardiac arrest, the data obtained were carried out bivariate regression test with a meaning of <0.05. Bivariate test results showed a p>0.05 value, meaning chronic renal failure is not significantly a risk factor for cardiac arrest. Subjects with chronic renal failure had a relative risk (RR) of 1.27, which means they had a 1.27 times higher risk of cardiac arrest than patients without chronic renal failure. Chronic renal failure is not significantly a risk factor for cardiac arrest, but it has a greater risk of cardiac arrest than without chronic renal failure. Further research is needed, taking into account the underlying comorbid disease. Keywords: Chronic Renal Failure, Risk Factors, Cardiac Arrest, Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
