Abstract

This study aims to validate the correlation between meteorological factors and air pollution with the spread of Covid-19 in Jakarta, Indonesia. This study examined the Covid-19 cases of Jakarta and its five municipalities. The secondary data of Covid-19 cases, includes Daily Positive Cases (DPC) and Total Daily Positive Cases (TDPC), were retrieved from the Health Office of DKI Jakarta Province, while the meteorological and air pollution parameters were obtained from the online database archives. Kendall and Spearman rank correlation tests were used to analyze correlation between DPC and TDPC with meteorological and air pollution parameters. This study found that Air Quality Index and PM10 showed a significant positive correlation with DPC in municipalities of Jakarta. Also, the average air temperature was positively correlated to TDPC in all region of Jakarta. Average air temperature, Air Quality Index, and PM10 were the factors that take into account for the spread of Covid-19 pandemic in Jakarta, Indonesia. The warmer temperature associated to the higher number of case. Thus, there are no indications that the spread of Covid-19 in subtropical or temperate country may decrease when entering a warmer season that resembles the climatic characteristics in tropical region. Additionally, the significance of air pollutant factors implies that reducing air pollution should be promoted as it might reduce the spread of Covid-19. The findings of this study would be useful to support the strategy and policy in preventing the spread of Covid-19 in the country.

Abstract

Itinerant tailors in urban Indonesia often work in prolonged static postures within mobile workstations lacking ergonomic support. This study examines the prevalence of musculoskeletal complaints and postural risks among 30 male itinerant tailors in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta. Using a mixed-method approach, quantitative data were collected through the Nordic Body Map (NBM) and Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA), while qualitative insights were obtained via semi-structured interviews. Results showed that 100% of participants fell into high or very high ergonomic risk categories, with prevalent discomfort in the buttocks, lower back, and hips. No statistically significant correlation was found between age or work duration and complaint severity, indicating that workstation design plays a more critical role. Interview findings revealed self-adapted seating modifications and a strong demand for portable ergonomic improvements. The study highlights the urgent need for anthropometrically informed seating solutions compatible with mobile informal labor settings. These findings inform context-sensitive design strategies that prioritize adjustability, user comfort, and occupational health in underserved worker populations.

Abstract

This research investigates postural risks faced by batik stamp workers at Batik Komar Bandung, employing Hierarchical Task Analysis (HTA) and Rapid Entire Body Assessment (REBA) to assess worker ergonomics. While batik holds immense cultural value, there is a lack of ergonomic research focusing on the well-being of workers in traditional batik production. The case study at Batik Komar Bandung involved 11 workers aged between 20 to 50 years, where work activities were documented through video and photographs, followed by HTA task analysis and REBA postural risk assessment. The findings reveal that the stamping stage, which constitutes 86.85% of the process, presents significant ergonomic risks, with a REBA score of 10 indicating high postural risk. Workers frequently use a ±1.1 kg stamp while maintaining bent postures for prolonged periods, contributing to potential musculoskeletal disorders. These findings underscore the urgent need for ergonomic interventions within the batik industry. The study proposes potential solutions, including workstation redesign, tool modification, and the implementation of regular rest periods to mitigate health risks. By addressing the ergonomic challenges in traditional batik production, this research highlights the importance of worker well-being and sustainability in the batik industry. Additionally, the study demonstrates the practical application of HTA and REBA in identifying postural risks and formulating effective interventions, contributing valuable insights to the growing field of ergonomic research in cultural industries.

Abstract

Achieving thermal comfort in educational environments is crucial for student well-being, yet it poses a significant challenge for naturally ventilated heritage buildings in tropical climates. This study investigates the relationship between objective thermal conditions and subjective comfort perceptions in a colonial-era, naturally ventilated school in Bandung, Indonesia. A mixed-methods approach combined objective physical measurements (T<sub>a</sub>, RH, T<sub>g</sub>, WBGT) with subjective questionnaires (N=50) assessing thermal sensation, comfort, and adaptive behaviors. Findings reveal a significant disconnect between physical data and subjective experience. Counterintuitively, the objectively warmer classroom was perceived as more comfortable and less disruptive. Statistical analysis confirmed no significant correlation between thermal data and subjective responses (p > 0.05). Instead, higher occupant density and student physiology post-recess (thermal alliesthesia—the phenomenon where thermal perception is influenced by recent physiological changes) were more influential factors. The study concludes that a purely physical-metric approach is insufficient for heritage buildings, providing strong empirical support for the Adaptive Comfort Model. The research underscores that design and management strategies must consider contextual factors, such as occupant density and activity patterns, to effectively improve learning environments.

Abstract

Abstract: Interior color represents a significant environmental stimulus that may influence users’ psychological and physiological conditions within built environments. This study aims to synthesize empirical evidence on the effects of interior color by employing a Systematic Literature Review approach. The literature selection process followed the PRISMA protocol, with database searches conducted in Scopus, PubMed, and Google Scholar for publications between 2015 and 2026. From an initial pool of 147 articles, 20 empirical studies met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed using narrative thematic synthesis. The findings indicate a strong methodological tendency toward experimental studies utilizing virtual simulations, particularly Virtual Reality, which enables precise manipulation of chromatic attributes such as hue, saturation, and brightness. Overall, cool colors such as blue and green are consistently associated with increased psychological relaxation and more stable physiological responses, including higher heart rate variability. In contrast, warm colors such as red and yellow tend to elevate emotional arousal and activate the autonomic nervous system. Users’ responses are further moderated by spatial color configuration, exposure duration, spatial context, and individual characteristics. These findings highlight the importance of strategically applying interior color to support evidence-based design practices that enhance users’ well-being. Keywords: interior color; psychological response; physiological response; built environment; evidence-based design; systematic literature review Abstrak: Warna interior merupakan stimulus visual penting yang berpotensi memengaruhi kondisi psikologis dan fisiologis pengguna ruang. Penelitian ini bertujuan mensintesis bukti empiris mengenai pengaruh warna interior melalui pendekatan Systematic Literature Review. Proses seleksi literatur mengikuti protokol PRISMA dengan penelusuran pada basis data Scopus, PubMed, dan Google Scholar untuk publikasi periode 2015–2026. Dari 147 artikel yang teridentifikasi, sebanyak 20 studi empiris memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan sintesis tematik naratif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan dominasi penggunaan eksperimen berbasis simulasi virtual, khususnya Virtual Reality, yang memungkinkan kontrol presisi terhadap atribut warna seperti hue, saturasi, dan kecerahan. Secara umum, warna dingin seperti biru dan hijau dikaitkan dengan peningkatan relaksasi psikologis serta respons fisiologis yang lebih stabil, termasuk peningkatan heart rate variability. Sebaliknya, warna hangat seperti merah dan kuning cenderung meningkatkan arousal emosional dan aktivasi sistem saraf otonom. Respons pengguna ruang juga dipengaruhi oleh faktor moderator seperti konfigurasi spasial warna, durasi paparan, konteks ruang, dan karakteristik individu. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya penerapan warna interior secara strategis dalam mendukung desain berbasis bukti yang berorientasi pada kesejahteraan pengguna ruang.
