Abstract

The temporary closure of all educational institutions as an effort to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak worldwide has an impact on millions of students, including in Indonesia. The distance learning process (Online) is a learning solution during the pandemic which in its implementation has not been optimal as a whole. This adds to the obstacles in the application of learning methods because on one occasion there are too many learning loads that must be overcome by the teaching staff. This Writing Method Using descriptive. The main source of self-regulated formation is internal, meaning that it depends on the individual's actions, not on what other people do self-regulated formation is also inseparable from external factors, namely the environment. One study found that people with low self-regulation often experience negative emotions from people with high self-esteem. This can be interpreted that individuals will try to find symbols that can provide positive experiences and acceptance of a good environment. Online learning uses materials and timescales that are following the curriculum. The online learning method is here to change the conventional teaching style which can later improve work professionalism. Self-Regulation is a major influence on the formation of the character of students so that in achieving the formation of student character it is necessary to have Self-Regulated oriented learning. Character education during the pandemic is very different from its application in the conventional period because all learning is all digital (Online), therefore it is very difficult for students and lecturers to organize self-regulated learning processes. Character education is hampered by its value because student self-regulation is not organized, and affects student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Early childhood education in Banyuwangi faces challenges in the integration of local culture and the potential of the Ijen Geopark. Around 40% of PAUD institutions implement a curriculum based on local culture. The limited understanding of educators and the lack of exploration activities hinder the use of Geoparks as a learning medium. The lack of community support and facilities in PAUD exacerbates this situation. The purpose of this research is to integrate local culture and the natural potential of the Ijen Geopark in early childhood education in Banyuwangi. This study assesses the challenges and opportunities for the implementation of cultural and environment-based learning. The research methodology uses a qualitative approach based on literature review. This study collected data from journals and relevant documents. The main focus of the research is the challenge in the application of culture-based learning in early childhood education. The results of the study show the importance of integrating contextual learning that links culture and environment in early childhood education in Banyuwangi. The Ijen Geopark offers great potential to enrich children's learning experience through direct interaction with nature and local culture. By utilizing a context-based learning approach, children can understand the environmental and cultural values that exist around them. An effective learning process requires a connection between new knowledge and the social context that the child recognizes, so that the learning experience gained becomes more profound and meaningful. The conclusion of the study shows that Early Childhood education in Banyuwangi faces challenges in the low implementation of the local culture-based curriculum, understanding of the Ijen Geopark, and limited facilities. Training, infrastructure upgrades, and collaboration are required for solutions.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the problem of low integration of the potential for local culture-based education in Ijen Geopark in history learning at the secondary school level, which is still predominantly text-based and has minimal use of interactive technology. The purpose of this research is to develop history learning modules based on digital tourism, AI, and AR to improve students' understanding of local history while fostering cultural conservation attitudes. The research subjects included 190 students and 8 history teachers who were selected through stratified random sampling. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) with preliminary study stages, product design, expert validation, limited trials, and effectiveness tests. Data collection techniques are carried out through tests, questionnaires, observations, and interviews, while data analysis techniques include content validity tests, paired t-tests, chi-squares, ANOVAs, and Pearson correlation analysis. The results showed a significant increase in local history knowledge (the average pre-test score of 48.2 increased to 75.6 in the post-test, p < 0.001), a more positive attitude of cultural conservation, expert validation with a very feasible category (content 90.1% and media 88.4%), and teacher perception that strongly supports the implementation of modules in history learning based on local contexts.

Abstract

Banyuwangi Regency possesses significant local historical potential through the presence of sites such as Songgon Cave, Wongsorejo Cave, Kalipuro Cave, and the Neolithic Site of Kendenglembu. These resources have not yet been optimally utilised within the history learning process at the upper secondary school level. This study aims to develop a digital instructional medium based on artificial intelligence that reconstructs local historical sites in a visual and educational manner. The research employs a 4D model of Research and Development (R&D), comprising the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. The sample includes 200 upper secondary school students selected through stratified purposive sampling. Data collection techniques encompass pre-tests and post-tests, expert validation, observation, and interviews with local community members. The results show that expert validation yielded a feasibility score of 92% and usability of 89%. The students’ pre-test score was 61.4, increasing to 84.7 in the post-test, with an effectiveness value of Cohen’s d at 1.72. The media is deemed highly suitable for use in local wisdom-based history learning. This research recommends further development in integrating virtual reality and enhancing visual data through GIS. AI-based media is expected to reinforce contextual, immersive, and relevant local history learning for the current digital generation.

Abstract

Metacognitive awareness is considered a key factor for proficient strategic reading, particularly for academic reading. That this study was designed to determine high school students' metacognitive awareness about academic reading strategy. Thus, through the Reading Strategy Survey, Global students' metacognitive awareness, Problem Solving and the reading support strategies used in academic reading are investigated. The results show that the participants usually use academic reading strategies so they are often aware of these strategies. They mostly use and realize problem solving strategies but supporting strategies are least used in academic reading. This study uses a survey in data collection. To achieve the goal, 104 questionnaires were administered to all participants. Researchers use the average as a measure to determine the level of use category for each category of reading strategy. The survey questionnaire developed by Mokhtari and Sheorey (2002) is called Survey of Reading Strategies (SORS). The reading strategy here is based on the SORS questionnaire, namely global reading strategies, problem solving strategies, and supporting strategies. This study found that students' use of reading strategies was high with students' preference for problem solving strategies. Suggestions are made for English teachers who can help them to improve student learning better, such as for students to know about how to apply the reading strategies they use well, and also for future researchers who have similarities with this research.

Abstract

Internet activities are ICT (Information and Communication Technology) that provide students with the opportunity to learn storytelling through digital media that are presented engagingly and contribute directly to developing storytelling skills. The study used a collaborative classroom activity study design, in which researchers and teachers collaborate to conduct the study. The study followed the steps of educational behavior research: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Research data was collected through several means, including student essay sheets, questionnaires, and observation sheets. The subjects of this study were her 30 students of class XI MA. The average score obtained during the preliminary survey was 62. This score increased to 75 in Cycle 1. In Cycle 2, the mean value obtained increased again to 80.5. We highly recommend using digital storytelling to improve your storytelling skills.
