Abstract

Most of Kampung Padang resident is a farmer especially as a oil palm and rubber farmer. In the cultivation of oil palm and rubber, there are still a few villagers from Kampung Padang who plant Mucuna between plants as a ground cover crop or Legume Cover Crop, even though Mucuna has many benefits, especially for suppressing weed growth and improving soil chemical properties. The difficulty of obtaining seeds makes people rarely use Mucuna. Some techniques that can be done to induce flowering in plants are using a growth regulator (ZPT) paclobutrazol. Several research results regarding the use of paclobutrazol have succeeded in shortening the length of plant tendrils. Other techniques that can be used to induce flowering in plants are providing water stress, ringing the plants, and pruning the roots of the plants. The response from the people of the Padang village population was very enthusiastic, seen from the many people who asked questions during the event.

Abstract

The primary need for cooking oil or edible oil, the demand for cooking oil raw materials increases from year to year, this increase forces producers of crude palm oil (CPO) to compete to produce quality CPO products. PT. Sinar Pandawa, which is located in the Sennah plantation village, Batang downstream district, Labuhan Batu district, is one of the companies that produce CPO. Therefore, this study aims to determine the quality of CPO PT. Sinar Pandawa has good quality by using an analysis process of free fatty acid levels, namely the amount of free fatty acids resulting from hydrolysis and fat oxidation reactions, water content, namely the amount of water content in CPO and levels of impurities are foreign substances that do not dissolve. The method used in this research is titration using 0.1 NaOH solution for analysis of free fatty acid levels. The oven is open for moisture analysis i.e. heating the sample until the remaining water evaporates. Gravimetry for analysis of impurities content by filtering the sample using Whatman filter paper. The results show that the quality of CPO at PT. Sinar Pandawa which has the highest levels of fatty acids at 5.08%, water content of 0.35% and dirt content of 0.034%. The results of the analysis that has been carried out stated that the quality of CPO PT. Sinar Pandawa has not met the quality standards of SNI. The high value of each parameter, namely free fatty acid content, water content and dirt content with test values in accordance with SNI-2901-2006 maximum free fatty acid content of 5%, 0.25% water content and 0.25% dirt content indicates a lack of quality. Abstract

Kailan mustard greens (Brassica oleraceae L.) is a horticultural plant that can be used as a family food source. This research aims to determine the effect of providing coconut dregs compost and NPK fertilizer on the growth of kailan mustard greens. The research was carried out in Ujung Bandar, Rantau Selatan, Labuhanbatu, North Sumatra. The experiment was arranged in a Randomized Block Factorial Design with the first factor being coconut dregs compost consisting of 4 levels, namely A0: control, A1: 200 g/plant, A2: 400 g/plant, A3: 600 g/plant, and the second factor was NPK which consists of 4 levels, namely N0: control, N1: 5g/plant, N2: 10 g/plant, N3: 15 g/plant. The results of the research showed that there was an interaction effect of providing coconut dregs compost and NPK on plant height, number of leaves and leaf area of kailan mustard greens. The combined dose of 600 g of coconut dregs with 15 g of NPK produced the best growth in plant height, number of leaves and leaf area of kailan mustard greens. Key words : coconut dregs;compost; fertilizer; kailan. INTISARISawi kailan (Brassica oleraceae L.) adalah tanaman hortikultura yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber pangan keluarga. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian pupuk kompos ampas kelapa dan pupuk NPK terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman sawi kailan. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Ujung Bandar, Rantau Selatan, Labuhanbatu, Sumatera Utara. Percobaan disusun dalam Rancangan Acak Kelompok Faktorial dengan faktor pertama adalah kompos ampas kelapa yang terdiri dari 4 taraf, yaitu A0: kontrol, A1: 200 g/tanaman, A2: 400 g/tanaman, A3: 600 g/tanaman, dan faktor kedua NPK yang terdiri dari 4 taraf, yaitu N0: kontrol, N1: 5g/tanaman, N2: 10 g/tanaman, N3: 15 g/tanaman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya interaksi pengaruh pemberian kompos ampas kelapa dan NPK terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, dan luas daun tanaman sawi kailan. Kombinasi dosis 600 g ampas kelapa dengan 15 g NPK menghasilkan pertumbuhan terbaik  terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, dan luas daun tanaman sawi kailan. Kata kunci : ampas kelapa, kailan, kompos, pupuk.

Abstract

This experiment was aim to investigate some factor influenced by demand for pakcoy hydroponic on glugur rantauprapat labuhanbatu. This research is research using quantitative and descriptive methods. The sampling method used was the accidental sampling method, namely determining the sample based on the coincidence of meeting 30 people with the researcher. The results of the research show that price and population have a positive and significant effect on demand for hydroponic pak choy vegetables in the Gelugur market in Rantauprapat City. It can be seen from the value of the coefficient of determination that demand can be explained by price and population by 76.2%. Meanwhile, the remaining 23.8% was influenced by other variables not examined in this research. Keywords: price, population, demand, hydrophonic, pakcoy

Abstract

The aimed of this study are to determine farmers role to support the income of oil palm cultivated oil palm. This study was held on Pulau Pandan Kampung Baru Village, Bilah Barat Labuhanbatu Regency. This study based on associative study and continued by survey approached with quantitative descriptive methods. To collected data, reseaecher used questioners and documentations by distributed 36 respondens contained of farmers. This study used SPSS with multiple linear regression analysis with partial significat test (t-test), f-tesst and determination coeffecient testing by R2. Based on this study showed that farmers role could be increased the income of the oil palms farmer income.  Keywords: Farmer, Income, Oil Palm, Role, Support. INTISARIRiset ini memiliki tujuan untuk mendeterminasi peranan kelompok petani dalam mendukung pendapatan petani sawit. Riset ini telah dilaksanakan di Pulo Pandan Desa Kampung Baru Bilah Barat Labuhanbatu. Riset ini disusun berdasarkan asosiatif riset dengan menggunakan survey pendekatan secara kuantitatif deskriptif. Dalam pengumpulan data, peneliti menggunakan angket dan dokumentasi yang didistribusikan kepada 36 responden yang terdiri dari petani. Riset ini menggunakan platform SPSS dengan uji perbedaan parsial (t-test), uji signifikansi f-test, koefesien dterminasi dengan R2. Berdasarkan riset ini dapat dilihat kelompok tani berperan dalam peningkatan pendapatan petani kelapa sawit. Kata Kunci: Petani, Pendapatan, Kelapa sawit, Peranan, Mendukung.

Abstract

Corn (Zea mays L.) is a vital food ingredient that plays a significant role in food security in Indonesia, particularly in North Sumatra, and it has considerable potential for developing local corn varieties. This study aims to evaluate the effect of NPK Mutiara fertilizer on the growth of gamma-irradiated local corn (Zea mays L.) plants from North Sumatra. The research was conducted in Perbaungan Village, Bilah Hulu District, Labuhanbatu Regency, North Sumatra Province, from December to February. A completely randomized design (CRD) was employed, featuring one factor and five fertilizer dose treatments: control, 3 g/polybag, 6 g/polybag, 9 g/polybag, and 12 g/polybag, with four replications. The parameters observed included plant height, number of leaves, and stem diameter at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks after planting (WAP). The results showed that the application of NPK Mutiara fertilizer significantly affected plant height and the number of leaves at all ages of the plants. The treatment with the highest dose, 12 gr/polybag, produced the best results, with plant height reaching 160.70 cm at 8 WAP, leaves reaching 11.50 leaves, and stem diameter reaching 2.24 cm. NPK Mutiara fertilizer improved the growth of gamma-irradiated corn plants, with higher doses resulting in optimal growth. However, it is essential to apply the correct dosage to avoid harming the plants. This study recommends fertilization with the appropriate dose to optimize corn plant growth in North Sumatra.

Abstract

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a strategic food commodity and a primary source of carbohydrates for most of the world's population, including Indonesia. One effort to increase rice production is through mutation.The purpose of this study is to study the influencegamma ray irradiation on several rice varieties at the germination seedling phase. Gamma ray irradiation was carried out in January 2025 at the Center for Isotope and Radiation Applications (PAIR), National Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN), Pasar Jumat, Jakarta, while planting was carried out on Jl. Belibis, Rantau Selatan District, Labuhanbatu Regency in March 2025. The study used a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) namely gamma ray irradiation at the following doses: 0 Gy (control/no radiation dose); 50 Gy; 100 Gy; 150 Gy; 200 Gy; 250 Gy; 300 Gy; 350 Gy; 400 Gy and 450 Gy.Observations were made on germination rate, seedling height, and root length. The data were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by Duncan's multiple range test (DMRT). The results showed a visible effect of gamma ray irradiation on germination rate. Gamma ray irradiation also affected average seedling height and root length.The lowest reduction in germination and seedling height occurred in the Sibenang rice variety at a dose of 450 Gy, at 0%. Meanwhile, the shortest root length was in the Ciherang rice variety at a dose of 450 Gy, at 1.93 cm.

Abstract

Penggunaan lahan biasanya digunakan untuk mengacu pada pemanfaatan masa kini. Perbedaan penggunaan lahan berpotensi untuk mempengaruhi masukan bahan organik. Hal ini akan mengakibatan sifat fisik tanah beragam pada masing-masing penggunaan lahan Khususnya Permeabilitas Tanah. Studi variasi tingkat permeabilitas tanah pada  Tanaman Kelapa Sawit (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.)  di  Kecamatan Kualuh Selatan Kabupaten Labuhanbatu Utara. Survei lapangan dilakukan dengan pengambilan contoh tanah. Contoh tanah untuk penetapan sifat permeabilitas tanah berdasarkan metode constan head. Analisis kimia tanah dilakukan untuk kandungan fraksi organik tanah, tekstur tanah. Hasil analisis menunjukkan lahan hutan memberikan hasil yang lebih cepat dibanding tipe penggunaan lahan lain. Kebun monokultur menghasilkan rata-rata permeabilitas yang lebih tinggi dibanding lahan kebun campuran.

Abstract

Leunca (Solanum nigrum L. ) is one of the indigenous vegetables in Indonesia. The fruit of this vegetable is green and has bitter taste because of its tannin content. The objectives of this study were to get lethal dose 50 (LD50), diversity and to obtain candidates of mutant plants with high and low tannin content in young fruit and ripe fruit in leunca. The research was conducted at Pasir Kuda experimental station, Bogor; National Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN), Jakarta; and postharvest laboratory of the Center for Tropical Horticulture Studies (PKHT IPB), Bogor, from December 2016 to July 2017. Leunca accession of SN 20 and SN 29 were irradiated using doses of 0, 100, 150, 200, and 250 Gy of gamma ray. The LD50 values for SN 20 and SN 29 were 171.944 Gy and 190.949 Gy, respectively. The analysis of tannin content was performed based on permanganate method by titration using potassium permanganate. The results showed that the highest tannin content of green stage fruit was found in SN20D3.5 with 200 Gy dose and the lowest was found in SN29D1.5 with 100 Gy dose. The highest tannin content of ripe fruit was found in SN20D4.6 with dose of 250 Gy and the lowest was found in SN20D3.1 with dose of 200 Gy. Recommended tannin content for leunca is the low tannin content.Keywords: diversity, gamma ray, indigenous vegetable, irradiation, LD50
