Abstract

Abstract Background: Infant weight gain is an important indicator of nutritional and health status. One method to improve weight gain is oxytocin massage, which stimulates breast milk production. In the working area of UPTD Kalapanunggal Public Health Center, cases of infants with slow growth are still found, requiring effective interventions. Objective: This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of oxytocin massage on weight gain in infants with slow growth in the working area of UPTD Kalapanunggal Public Health Center. Methods: This study used a quasi-experimental design with a pre- and post-test with control group approach. The sample consisted of 30 breastfeeding mothers, divided into a control group (milk supplementation only) and an intervention group (milk supplementation + oxytocin massage). The instruments used were a digital scale, an infant weight observation sheet, and an oxytocin massage SOP. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test to examine differences before and after the intervention in each group, and the Mann–Whitney test to compare the two groups. Results: The Wilcoxon test showed a significant difference in infant weight gain before and after the intervention in both groups (p<0.05). The Mann–Whitney test indicated that infant weight gain in the intervention group was higher than in the control group (p<0.05). Conclusion: Oxytocin massage is effective in increasing weight gain in infants with slow growth. Recommendation: Health workers are encouraged to apply oxytocin massage as a supporting intervention to improve infant growth in health facilities.

Abstract

ABSTRACT   Introduction: Chronic Energy Deficiency Syndrome (CED) in pregnant women can cause various health problems for the pregnant woman herself and the fetus. Factors causing CED in pregnant women include family income, parity, age, diet, maternal knowledge, and infection. However, research on its effectiveness in the Kalapanunggal Community Health Center working area is still limited. Objective: To determine the effect of PMT administration on weight gain in pregnant women with CED in the Kalapanunggal Community Health Center working area. Method: This type of research is a quantitative study with a quasi-experimental method with one group pretest posttest. The sample in this study was all pregnant women who experienced CED at the Kalapanunggal Community Health Center, totaling 30 people. The sampling technique in this study used a purposive sampling technique. The instruments in this study were observation sheets for weight gain. Results: The results of the study showed that the average weight of pregnant women before receiving PMT can be seen that there was an increase in the average weight of pregnant women between before being given PMT (46.827±4.5343) and after being given PMT Recovery for 3 months (49.013±4.5583). Conclusion: There is an effect of providing additional food (PMT) in the form of Local PMT on weight gain of pregnant women at the Kalapanunggal Health Center, Sukabumi Regency.

Abstract

Introduction: Prolonged active phase of labor increases the risk of maternal and neonatal complications. One non-pharmacological method to accelerate labor is the pelvic rocking technique using a birthing ball. Objective: To determine the effect of pelvic rocking on the duration of the active phase of the first stage of labor in the working area of Kalapanunggal Health Center. Methods: A quasi-experimental study with a two-group posttest-only design was conducted on 30 women in labor, divided into an intervention group (pelvic rocking, n=15) and a control group (light walking, n=15) selected by purposive sampling. Instruments included partographs and observation sheets. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. Results: Most respondents were aged 20–35 years (66.7%) and primiparous (56.7%). The mean duration of the active phase of the first stage was 221 minutes in the intervention group and 390 minutes in the control group (p=0.000). The mean duration of the second stage was 77 minutes in the intervention group and 108 minutes in the control group (p=0.021). Conclusion: Pelvic rocking significantly shortens the duration of both the active phase of the first stage and the second stage of labor. This technique can be recommended as an effective and easily applied non-pharmacological intervention to support labor progress.
