Abstract

This study aims to develop 21st century skills of students in hydrolysis material using a culturally responsive teaching approach which is integrated with ethnochemistry. This research was conducted in the even semester of the 2018/2019 academic year involving 19 students of class XI IPA Aliyah Alkhairaat Guraping. This study uses a qualitative method that focuses on the development of 21st century students' skills in salt hydrolysis material. The collected data is taken through reflective student journals, student interviews and observers' classroom observations. The standard quality in this study is trusthworthiness by using pre-engagement, persistent observation, progressive subjectivity, and member checking. Based on the results of the study of salt hydrolysis learning using a culturally responsive teaching approach it can be seen that 21st century students' skills, namely information skills, automation skills and communication skills are seen by the use of this approach. In addition, students' motivation and curiosity also develop. Culturally responsive teaching can be used as an alternative to develop 21st century skills for students in learning hydrolysis of salt.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of Problem Based Learning model and personality type to students' critical thinking ability on colloidal material. The subjects of the study were the students of class XI IPA2 and XI IPA3 SMA Negeri 5 Tidore Islands in the academic year 2016/2017 selected using cluster random sampling technique. The method used in this research is experimental method with 2x2 factorial design. The instruments used for critical thinking are essay and personality type instruments in the form of questionnaires. Analysis of this research date using two way variance analysis and continued with t-test. The result of date shows that: 1)there is interaction effect between learning model and personality type.2)there is a significant difference of students' critical thinking ability on colloid material taught by model of problem based learning and direct learning model. 3)There is a significant difference in students' critical thinking ability on colloidal material between extroverted and introverted personality students. 4) critical thinking skills of extroverted students taught with a higher problem-based learning model than if taught by direct learning model.5) the critical thinking skills of introverted students taught with Problem Based Learning model is lower than if taught by direct learning model. From the above results, it can be concluded that the model of Problem Based Learning is more suitable applied to students who have extroverted personality types to improve their critical thinking skills, especially on colloid material than introverted students. Abstract

Abstract:Student errors in solving Mathematical problems are often found by writers in rural schools, and it possibly happened in schools in the city too. This article tries to analyze the mistakes of high school students in rural and urban areas in solving math problems. This research is qualitative with a research location in two schools, each as an interpretation of schools in rural and urban areas. The results found that students in a rural and urban school in principle there an error in solving problems. High school students in urban areas tend to make procedural errors while rural high school students in addition to making procedural errors also tend to make computational skills mistakes.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has brought changes to various aspects of the world of education, including learning activities and evaluation. This research aims to; 1) Describe the implementation of assessments in learning mathematics during the Covid-19 pandemic, 2) Knowing the effectiveness of implementing assessments of student mathematics learning outcomes during the Covid-19 pandemic. This research was conducted at Al-Ikhlas Rum Private Islamic Elementary School (MIS), North Tidore District, Tidore City, North Maluku Province, Academic Year 2020/2021. The subjects of the study were fifth grade students, teachers and principals of the MIS Al-Ikhlas Rum Madrasah. This research is an evaluation research with a quantitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques using tests, interviews and documentation. Data were analyzed quantitatively and descriptively. Quantitative analysis includes the normality test and paired test, while the description of the data is carried out based on the results of interviews and documentation. The results of the study showed that learning during the pandemic at Al-Ikhlas Rum Private Madrasah Ibtidaiyah was carried out using the online method, dividing the classes into two classes, and offline learning by visiting students to their homes. The results of the paired simple test show that the sig (2-tailed) value is 0.000 or less than 0.005. Thus it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the results of learning mathematics in the pre-test and post-test data

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to develop Event, Duration, Latency and Interval (EDLI) Assessment Techniques to Measure Student Learning Engagement and Motivation in Online Learning Design/methods/approach – This study used a research and development (R&D) framework by Borg & Gall which consists of (1) Research and information collecting, (2) Planning, (3) Developing preliminary form of product, (4) Preliminary field testing, and (5) Operational field testing. The research subjects were lecturers at 5 universities in North Maluku province who implement online learning, totaling 10 lecturers. Data analysis using the Aiken Index to determine product validity criteria. Findings – The results of the social behavior in online learning experts assessed 83% of the products developed as valid, then experts in the field of learning media assessed 83% of the products developed as valid, finally experts in the field of IT development assessed 83% of the products developed as valid.  Research implications/limitations – The Event, Duration, Latency, and Interval (EDLI) assessment technique guide is applicable for all lecturers conducting online learning. However, due to researcher limitations, product trials during the Operational Field Testing stage cannot be conducted at all universities in North Maluku Province and are restricted to universities in the city of Ternate. Originality/value – The importance of a guide that explains procedures for assessing student performance during online learning is especially related to student motivation and involvement, and the Event, Duration, Latency, and Interval (EDLI) procedure is very relevant for use in assessing student performance during online learning.
