Abstract

Abstrak: Pelatihan Bahasa Inggris kepariwisataan (English for tourism) ini dilaksanakan di Wisata Pantai Sembilan Giligenting Sumenep. Pelatihan dilakukan dengan cara memberikan pendidikan Bahasa inggris kepariwisataan dalam bentuk lecturing dan practice oleh instruktur berpengalaman dari dalam dan luar negeri (native speakers). Berdasarkan analisis dan refleksi, ada lima dampak signifikan yang dihasilkan dari Pelatihan ini: (1) kesadaran masyarakat tentang pentingnya Bahasa inggris dalam pengembangan pariwisata sangat meningkat, (2) kemampuan dan keterampilan Bahasa inggris masyarakat dampingan sangat meningkat, (3) layanan informasi bagi wisatawan asing juga sangat meningkat dan lebih baik dibuktikan dengan dibentuknya pusat layanan informasi kepariwisataan (Tourism Information Center), (4) motivasi dan antusiasme belajar masyarakat dampingan juga sangat tinggi dibuktikan dengan dibentuknya kelompok diskusi dan belajar (Pantai Sembilan English Club), (5) terciptanya peluang ekonomi kreatif berbasis ekonomi wisata serta peningkatan ekonomi masyarakat melalui usaha jasa pemanduan (local tour guide) dan penukaran uang (money changer). Kata Kunci: Destinasi, Wisata, Kepariwisataan Abstracts: The English for tourism training was held at Sembilan Beach Giligenting Island Sumenep Madura. The training was conducted by educating community concerning English for tourism in form of lecturing and practice guided by experienced instructors from within and outside country (native speakers). Based on analysis and reflection, there are five significant impacts resulting from this training: (1) community awareness on importance of English in tourism development has greatly increased, (2) ability and skills of English language of assisted communities has greatly increased, (3) information services for tourists foreigners are also greatly increased and better proved by the establishment of tourism information center service (4) motivation and enthusiasm of assisted communities in learning English is also very high proved by forming English study center/club, (5) the creation of creative economic opportunities based on tourism economy as well as improving economic community through business scouting services (local tour guides) and money changers. Abstract

Abstrak: Fokus pengabdian ini pemberdayaan masyarakat Gili Iyang Sumenep melalui usaha ekonomi wisata kreatif. Tujuan pengabdian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan dan ekonomi masyarakat melalui pemanfaatan asset dan potensi wisata sebagai peluang usaha berbasis ekonomi wisata kreatif. Pengabdian ini dilaksanakan dengan menggunakan model riset aksi partisipatif atau yang dikenal dengan participatory action research yang terdiri dari proses spiral: perencanaan kegiatan, pelaksanaan dan pengamatan serta refleksi. Aksi yang dilaksanakan adalah pendidikan dan pendampingan: pendidikan yang diberikan adalah pendidikan kewirausahaan, mencari peluang usaha berbasis ekonomi wisata kreatif, manajemen dan strategi pengelolaan usaha, pelatihan keterampilan pemandu wisata dan pelatihan desain produk khas Gili Iyang. Sedangkan dalam sesi pendampingan, masyarakat didampingi dalam beberapa hal; pertama, pendampingan pengembangan paket wisata, pengembangan penginapan atau home stay dan pendampingan dalam pengembangan usaha souvenir dan oleh-oleh khas Gili Iyang dan Sumenep. Hasil dari pendampingan masyarakat miskin di pulau Gili Iyang melalui usaha ekonomi berbasis wisata kretif adalah sebagai berikut: Pengembangan usaha souvenir dan oleh-oleh khas Gili Iyang, Pengembangan usaha dalam bidang pemandu wisata (tour guide), Pengembangan usaha paket wisata Gili Iyang dan Pengembangan usaha penginapan atau home stay berbasis masyarakat. Abstract

This study is categorized as classroom action research (CAR). This study proposed Think-Pair-Square as strategy in English language teaching and learning of speaking at the second grade of MTs Mambaul Ulum Bata-Bata Palengaan Pamekasan. This strategy is aimed at solving the students’ problems on speaking ability and active participation in the classroom. Based on the preliminary study, the students’ problems in speaking skill grouped into several problems: (1) lack of vocabularies (2) lack of ideas to speak (3) afraid to speak (4) lack of self-confidence. Therefore, the criteria of success were directed to the mentioned problems. The result of the research showed that by implementing Think-Pair-Square strategy in English language teaching and learning of speaking skill in the classroom, the students speaking ability is increased and students’ active participation during the speaking activities in the classroom is very highly positive and increased.

Abstract

This study has three research focuses: (1) how does the English teacher teach reading comprehension by using short story, (2) what are the obstacles faced by English teacher, and (3) what are the advantages of teaching reading comprehension by using shot story at the seventh grade of MTs Manshurul Ummah Pasean Pamekasan. The approach of this study is qualitative and the kind is descriptive. The data was collected through observation, interview and documentation and analyzed by using explorative descriptive procedures: data reduction, data display, data conclusion drawing and verification. The data validity used triangulation of data collection techniques. The findings of the study shows: (1) The steps in teaching reading comprehension by using short story are: pre-teaching, whilst-teaching, and post teaching. The use of short story makes students enjoyed learning and students’ are highly motivated, fun and joyfull with the teaching and learning. (2) The obstacles faced by teacher in teaching reading comprehension are: (a) students’ motivation is low, (b) students’ vocabulary is very limitted, (c) students’ self confidence and bravery are very poor. (3) The advantages of teaching reading comprehension are: (a) recognizing English texts genre, (b) increasing fluency in reading, (c) enlarging students’ English vocabulary.

Abstract

Keberhasilan belajar bahasa Inggris tercermin dalam kemampuan speaking-nya karena Speaking merupakan keterampilan bahasa yang prominent. Namun mahasiswa masih enggan, malu dan takut untuk mengungkapkan gagasan dengan bebas (free) karena mereka dihinggapi perasaan cemas (language anxiety) atau nervous yang mereka alami ketika hendak mengungkapkannya. Hal ini diakibatkan oleh faktor individu dan faktor sosial. Bentuk manifestasi dari language anxiety yang dihadapi mahasiswa berbentuk perilaku verbal dan non-verbal. Untuk mengatasi language anxiety tersebut mahasiswa mensugesti diri, menarik nafas panjang, dan meminta bantuan teman-temanya apabila perasaan anxiety itu muncul.

Abstract

Pembelajaran bahasa Inggris untuk anak-anak kecil (young children) menuntut guru untuk selalu kreatif dan inovatif dalam mendesign aktivitas pembelajaran di kelas. Pengajaran bahasa Inggris untuk anak-anak kecil tidak mudah mengingat anak-anak kecil mempunyai karakteristik dan keunikan tersendiri dalam mempelajari sebuah bahasa. Setiap guru tentu menginginkan kegiatan pembelajaran yang efektif dan bermutu baik. Namun, persoalannya adalah bagaimana pembelajaran bahasa Inggris untuk anak-anak dapat dilakukan secara efektif dan maksimal. Maka, guru sebagai fasilitator, pelaksana dan pengembang kurikulum harus mampu menentukan metode pengajaran yang kreatif, inovatif dan relevan untuk anak-anak kecil. Salah satu metode pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang relevan untuk anak-anak kecil adalah metode Total Physical Response (TPR). TPR adalah sebuah metode pengajaran bahasa yang sampai detik ini masih dianggap sebagai metode yang sangat populer dan relevan untuk diterapkan dalam pengajaran bahasa Inggris untuk ana-anak kecil baik di MI maupun SD. Oleh karena itu, artikel ini akan mencoba untuk menjelaskan secara detail tentang metode Total Physical Response (TPR) serta implementasinya dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris untuk anak-anak kecil di MI/SD.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan bagaimana pelaksanaan pendidikan bahasa asing (arab-inggris), strategi pengembangan dan respon santri terhadap pendidikan dan pengembangan bahasa asing di pondok pesantren Mambaul Ulum Bata-Bata Pamekasan. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan wawancara mendalam (in-depth interview), observasi (observation), dan studi dokumentasi (documentation study). Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis data exlporatif model Miles dan Huberman: reduksi data (data reduction), penyajian data (data display), penarikan kesimpulan dan verifikasi (conclussion drawing and verification). Teknik pengecekan keabsahan data dalam penelitian ini adalah: perpanjangan pengamatan, meningkatkan ketekunan, trianggulasi, dan melibatkan teman sejawat. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Pendidikan bahasa asing di Pondok Pesantren Mambaul Ulum Bata-Bata Pamekasan dilaksanakan secara formal dan non-formal. Secara formal, pendidikan bahasa asing dilaksanakan di sekolah sesuai dengan kurikulum pendidikan nasional serta pembukaan kelas billingual. Secara non-formal, pendidikan bahasa asing dilaksanakan di pesantren berbasis asrama (base camp area) dengan sistem kursus dan akselerasi. (2) Strategi yang dilakukan untuk mengembangkan pendidikan bahasa asing di pesantren adalah: meningkatkan kapasitas instruktur secara berkelanjutan melalui kursus di akademi bahasa asing, mendelegasikan instruktur dalam pertemuan ilmiah seperti seminar, workshop, simposium, dan melakukan studi banding ke lembaga kursus pendidikan bahasa asing, serta pelaksanaan TAMARA/Uji Kompetensi (3) Respon santri terhadap pendidikan dan pengembangan bahasa asing sangat baik. Menurut sebagian besar santri, bahasa asing sangat penting untuk dikuasai sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan tentang informasi global, memperkaya ilmu pengetahuan, membuka kesempatan atau peluang bekerja di luar negeri, dan mempermudah santri untuk mendapatkan dan mencari beasiswa khususnya di negara-negara inggris (English countries) dan negara-negara arab (arabic countries).

Abstract

The basic goal of teaching and learning English at Agro-Technology Department is to develop the English skills of the students in order that they can understand and comprehend any English references such as textbooks, journals and other sources and they are able to communicate actively. The learning and teaching of English at Agro-Technology Department is considered unable to achieve its objectives. The main problem in this case is there is no an appropriate reading material for the students. The existing material is not in accordance with the needs and the background of the students. Concerning the problem above, a set of suitable instructional material for the students of Agro-Technology Department needs to be developed. The procedure being done in this study are doing need analysis, developing reading materials, expert validation, revising the materials, trying out the materials, and final product. The data from the result of the needs analysis shows most of the students agree to develop reading materials which are suitable with their major content subject namely Agro-Technology science, to include list of vocabulary in the reading materials they are learning, to include grammar review in the future reading materials, to clarify the content of the materials in the explanation, and to arrange the materials according to the degree of its difficulty

Abstract

This research aims to describe; (1) how Total Physical Response Method (TPR) can increase students’ English vocabulary mastery? This research uses classroom action research by applying Hopkins model and collaborative patterns. This research was carried out in the fifth grade of MI Nasy'atul Muta'allimin Dungkek Sumenep. The data collection techniques used are interview, test, observation and documentation. Meanwhile, the technique of data analysis used quantitative data analysis to analyze student learning outcomes and qualitative data analysis to analyze student learning process. The criteria of success of this research are 100% of students' scores are increased above criteria after the learning process. The results of data analysis show that: Total Physical response method can improve students' English vocabulary mastery. This can be seen from student learning process and outcomes which are increasing from the start of pre-test to the end of cycle II. The results of increasing students' English vocabulary mastery during pre-test only reached 6.7%, with an average score of 47. Meanwhile in cycle 1 there was an increase in learning outcomes, namely increasing to 93.3% with an average score of 87.6. However, in cycle I there was still 1 student who had a score below the criteria. In the second cycle there was a very significant increase in learning outcomes, namely increasing to 100% with an average score of 95.3. So in the second cycle all students have obtained a complete score above the criteria of success.

Abstract

This research raises democratization of Islamic education through application of Islamic Education Institution Management, SBM as a tool for educational institution to realize democratic Islamic education. Law No. 20 of 2003 concerning National Education System and quality assurance through 2005 Law on National Education Standard which all demonstrate the democratization of education. This study uses a qualitative approach by describing application of School-Based Management in Islamic educational institution, and analyzing that application of School-Based Management is a way of realizing democratic Madrasah. The results of the study showed that the reference of implementation of SBM in Madrasah starts from Law no. 2 of 1989, No. 20 of 2003, PP No. 19 of 2005 and PP No. 55 of 2007. The strategy of SBM implementation is autonomy, empowerment, independence and flexibility. While the stages of its implementation are by way of socialization, formulation of vision and mission goals, identification of challenges, identification of functions, SWOT analysis, alternative solutions, quality improvement plan, implementation of quality improvement, and evaluation and monitoring. Implementation of School-Based Management strongly shows the existence of democratization in education, this is reflected in principles of a democratic form of Islamic education including respect for the potential of Madrasah, dynamic curriculum and the creation of synchronization of educational institutions with community as customer.
