Abstract

Contemporary architects highlight past ideas and present new manifestos often perceived as utopian. Bjarke Ingels introduced hedonistic sustainability in response to the demand for environmentally friendly and sustainable living through different perspectives. This paper comprehensively explains the concept of hedonistic sustainability through the designs of Bjarke Ingels, a contemporary architect. Literature from various sources is examined to describe Bjarke Ingels' idea. Hedonistic sustainability combines sustainable ideas, fun, and community. Bjarke Ingels's architectural design is applied through simulation and an ironic approach. Its representation facilitates the exploration of the design objects planned concretely. The idea of playful and communality was raised through the design that accommodates various user activities. Bjarke Ingels's idea is expected to contribute to the knowledge and contemporary architecture design process in Indonesia. © 2020 Nita Dwi Estika, Yudhistira Kusuma, Dewi Retno Prameswari, Iwan Sudradjat

Abstract

Abstract: This proposed community service program is an initiation in promoting environmental education which is carried out in Kertawangi Village, Cisarua District, West Bandung Regency. This 1800 Ha village is effectively dominated by plantation land so most of the livelihoods of the residents in this village are farmers. However, plantation wastes are only left to rot or are burned along with other wastes. Organic waste from plantations can be converted into important agricultural raw materials such as compost. Therefore, this service will offer Bokashi simple organic waste (composter) processing technology that can be made by the community. Bokashi can be used as an environmentally friendly feature in residential homes and indirectly as a medium for environmental education related to waste management on a micro-scale. This program will be packaged in the form of workshops and composting demonstrations. Through these workshops and demonstrations, it is hoped that the community will be able to uphold ecological values and be able to maintain the beauty and sustainability of the environment in their area.

Abstract

The Bandung City Government strives to create a comfortable city space for its citizens. Preliminary studies show that not all city residents use city parks. This study aims to explore the perception of city residents about the safety of public spaces in Bandung City. The research was conducted by combining quantitative methods using questionnaires with qualitative methods through observation and documentation of places that were considered the safest and least safe from the results of the questionnaire. The results showed that places that are considered safe have an excellent level of neatness and cleanliness, equipped with street and garden furniture devices, large pedestrian areas, and attractive to be photo spots. Places that are perceived as unsafe are places that lack clear use and function, have a poor level of service, and are in areas that have low visibility. Recommendations for the redesign of unsafe places are presented by integrating built environment principles that can tackle crime.

Abstract

The development of culture and technology in responding to human needs in architecture and physical infrastructure development requires an acceleration in the skills of construction workers. Many factors become obstacles for construction workers to be able to compete and improve their skills. One of them is access to education and skills training because of the lack of information and opportunities they can get. This study aims to develop a vocational skills training model oriented to the certification of skilled workers in the construction industry. The development of the training model is made through stages that refer to research and development of Logic Model Development. The process carried out includes the planning, implementation, analysis, testing and finalization of the training model. Data collection was carried out through surveys of construction worker service users, FGD with training model development experts, FGD with construction industry stakeholders, theoretical analysis, and policies as materials for model development. The findings of this study are in the form of a training model that develops networks and collaborations between institutions related to skilled workers in the construction industry. Vocational universities have the potential to strengthen and facilitate construction workers in improving job skills and certifying skilled workers. In the long term, this model is expected to become a prototype for a sustainable vocational skills training system for construction workers.
