Abstract

Kegiatan Kuliah Kerja Nyata Dari Rumah (KKN-DR) merupakan salah satu mata kuliah wajib di Universitas Al Azhar Indonesia. Kegiatan ini mengarahkan para mahasiswa untuk melakukan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat sesuai keahlian program studi di lingkungan tempat tinggal masing-masing dengan tujuan untuk memberikan manfaat sesuai dengan bidangnya masing-masing. Berdasarkan survey yang telah penulis lakukan, ditemukan sebuah masalah yaitu kemampuan bahasa asing anak-anak di Kelurahan Guguk Malintang kurang berkembang dengan baik, terutama bahasa Mandarin, selain itu pengetahuan masyarakat tentang Tiongkok juga masih kurang. Di masyarakat Guguk Malintang terdapat suatu kegiatan Taman Baca Masyarakat (TBM) Gumala Kreatif, yaitu organisasi masyarakat yang bergerak di bidang literasi, budaya, ekonomi dan adat. Organisasi ini beranggotakan anak-anak, remaja dan orang dewasa. Anak-anak Gumala Kreatif mengadakan pertemuan dua kali seminggu, yaitu pada Jum’at siang dan Minggu siang untuk melakukan latihan tari tradisional dan randai. Di kegiatan inilah penulis mencoba menyelesaikan masalah tersebut dengan memperkenalkan bahasa Mandarin dan budaya Tiongkok dasar kepada anak-anak di TBM Gumala Kreatif. Metode yang digunakan adalah dengan memberikan pengajaran dan berdiskusi secara langsung mengenai materi bahasa Mandarin dan budaya Tiongkok dasar. Pada kegiatan KKN-DR ini penulis akan bekerja sama dengan kelurahan Guguk Malintang khususnya pengurus TBM Gumala Kreatif untuk melaksanakan metode pembelajaran tersebut. Dengan demikian, anak-anak dapat mengenal bahasa dan kebudayaan asing sejak dini dan dapat membuka wawasan mereka tentang dunia luar. Hasil yang didapatkan adalah sebanyak 85% peserta dapat memahami materi dengan baik, dan 75% peserta mampu mengulangi materi dengan lancar. Antusiasme yang tinggi dari para peserta dan pegiat membuat kegiatan KKN-DR ini berjalan dengan lancar.  Kata kunci: Kuliah kerja nyata, pengabdian masyarakat, Bahasa Mandarin dan Budaya Tiongkok

Abstract

This study is an of R&D (Research and Development) program which aims to produce teaching material for learning Mandarin. In producing the teaching material, this research considered the following steps: (1) analysis of needs, (2) development of teaching material (i.e. teaching material plan, product design and test (phase 1), and limited operation test (phase 2), (3) effectivity test and readability test. This research used Kemp, Borg, and Gall mixed model. This research is conducted at University of Al Azhar Indonesia (UAI), and subjected as a trial in the second-semester course. The result suggests teaching material for speaking Chinese, that is based on the quantum approach, is effective in enhancing spoken Chinese ability within students of Chinese Study Programme in UAI. The result of re-pretest in average was 77,82, whereas the result of post-test 82,12. This suggests an increase after the model is implemented as a trial. Both samples represented the normal distribution. Further, the homogeneity test revealed the number of counted F (2,25) fell under the F table (3,19). Therefore, both groups appeared to have the same variant or homogeny. On the other hand, counted t value (2,18) is higher than t table (1,73). The result indicates significant difference so as to confirm the hypothesis of this study.

Abstract

The “Independent Campus, Freedom to Learn” (MBKM) Policy, which was initiated by the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology is an innovative step to improve the quality of human resources to be ready to enter the world of work. This policy gives freedom to students to be able to carry out activities outside their department either at the same university in different department or at other universities or other institutions that collaborate in MBKM activities. This research was conducted using a field survey method, the research aspects including the student’s level of knowledge on the MBKM program, sources of information for the MBKM program, activities in the MBKM program, competency improvement through the MBKM program and others. The object of this research are the students of the Chinese Language and Culture department at the University of Al Azhar Indonesia, discussing the level of student understanding regarding the MBKM policies. The research found that most of the students did not get clear information about the MBKM program. Although all respondents stated that the MBKM program provided good benefits for improving competence and soft skills in preparing life after graduation, but at the implementation stage there were still several obstacles. The findings of the study also provided suggestions for improving the implementation of MBKM activities.Keywords - Competency improvement, MBKM policy, Student understanding

Abstract

Abstrak Bahasa Mandarin sudah menjadi bahasa asing kedua yang sering digunakan di dunia, Persatuan Bangsa-Bangsa (PBB) telah mengakui bahasa Mandarin salah satu bahasa persatuan PBB. Masyarakat Indonesia keturunan non Tionghoa sebagian besar belum mengenal bahasa Mandarin secara baik karena menganggap bahasa Mandarin sulit untuk dipelajari, dilihat dari karakter bahasa mandarin yang sangat unik dalam penulisan dan pengucapan membuat pembelajar membutuhkan rangsangan dan motivasi untuk mempelajari bahasa tersebut. Fenomena yang terjadi saat ini pengajar memberikan sugesti negative kepada siswa bahwa bahasa mandarin sangat sulit untuk dipelajari sehingga sugesti tersebut tertanam diotak mereka yang mengakibatkan materi susah diterima. Selain itu, pengajar dalam menggunakan metode pengajaran belum menerapkannya dengan baik dikarenakan pengajar belum terlalu memahaminya dengan baik, khususnya metode quantum teaching ada juga yang masih menggunakan metode pengajaran konvensial. Adapun tujuan dilakukan pengabdian masyarakat ini adalah untuk memperkenalkan bahasa Mandarin kepada siswa di tempat kursus K’PAI yang sebagian besar siswa dari kalangan non Tionghoa dengan status sosialnya menengah kebawah, selain itu juga untuk memperkenalkan kepada tutor tempat kursus tersebut dalam menggunakan metode quantum teaching agar tutor ditempat kursus tersebut dapat memberikan pengajaran yang baik kepada siswanya sehingga dapat memajukan tempat kursus K’PAI. Permasalahan dalam pengabdian masyarakat ini ada 2 (dua) yaitu 1) siswa belum mengenal sama sekali bahasa Mandarin karena sebagian besar siswa bersekolah di sekolah negeri, 2) tutor tidak menggunakan metode pembelajaran saat mengajar dan tidak mengenal metode quantum teaching. Sehingga solusi yang kami tawarkan adalah pengajaran bahasa Mandarin dengan menggunakan salah satu metode pengajaran yang telah teruji dengan baik. Arah kegiatan pelaksanaan abdimas ini adalah sebagai Pelayanan Kepada Masyarakat dan Penerapan Iptek. Abstract Mandarin has become the second foreign language often spoken in the world, the United Nations (UN) has recognized Mandarin as one of the languages ​​of the United Nations. Most of the Indonesian people of non-Chinese descent do not know Mandarin well because they think Mandarin is difficult to learn, seen from the very unique character of Mandarin in writing and pronunciation making learners need stimulation and motivation to learn the language. The current phenomenon that occurs when the teacher gives negative suggestions to students that Mandarin is very difficult to learn so that the suggestion is embedded in their minds which makes the material difficult to accept. In addition, teachers in using the teaching method have not applied it well because they have not understood it well, especially the quantum teaching method, some are still using conventional teaching methods. The purpose of this community service is to introduce Mandarin to students at the K'PAI course, most of which are non-Chinese students with middle to lower social status, besides that it is also to introduce the tutor of the course to using the quantum teaching method so that the tutor where the course is able to provide good teaching to students so that they can advance the K'PAI course. There are 2 (two) problems in community service, namely 1) students do not know Mandarin at all because most students attend public schools, 2) tutors do not use the learning method when teaching and do not know the quantum teaching method. So that the solution we offer is teaching Mandarin using one of the well-tested teaching methods. The activity direction for the implementation of this community service is as a service to the community and the application of science and technology.

Abstract

This study examines the language style and intertextual meaning contained in 5 anti-epidemic song lyrics that were selected based on the amount of people's interest. The anti-epidemic song is a song that was released specifically as a form of support and to show empathy for the difficult situation that is currently happening due to the infectious disease known as COVID-19. This study looks at how musicians communicate through song lyrics to convey a sense of empathy and spirit to the community, as well as see whether there is a relationship between song lyrics and texts or social and historical conditions in society. The method used in this study is a descriptive qualitative method, the results of this study are the language styles that are found to be very diverse, namely: 借代 (jièdài), 反语 (fǎnyǔ), 婉曲 (wǎnqū), 对偶 (duì'ǒu), 比喻 (bǐyù), 反复(fǎnfù), 对比 (duìbǐ), 映衬 (yìngchèn), 排比 (páibǐ), 顶真 (dǐngzhēn), 夸张 (kuāzhāng), 双关 (shuāngguān) and 比拟 (bǐnǐ), it can be strung together into amazing song lyrics and managed to give a certain effect for those who listen, the meaning is also very closely related to the real conditions that are happening in the community so that these songs can be received very well. Keywords – Language Style, Intertextual Study, Anti-Epidemic Song

Abstract

Learning writing skills in Mandarin is often something that is feared and less desirable because of the level of difficulty, because it requires a learning method that can overcome the obstacles faced by learners in this proficiency. This research seeks to provide an alternative method of learning to write by optimizing students' reading abilities. By using a qualitative approach, the author tries to optimize the reading of Chinese texts in learning activities to improve students' writing skills. From the results of this study, it is known that by providing more reading input, students also have more knowledge regarding the topic of writing and its development, better vocabulary mastery and understanding of good writing methods/methods so that it has a positive impact on the development and improvement of writing skills of students in MandarinKeywords – Mandarin, Writing Skills, Reading Abilities, Optimizing.

Abstract

The Tang Dynasty is one of the most famous dynasties in China. In addition to the discovery of many discoveries, this dynasty also has many interesting stories. One of them is the story of Empress Wu Zetian (武则天Wǔzétiān). who is the only female emperor in China. The story of Empress Wu Zetian, the female emperor, has attracted a lot of interest from the public and even novelists. This study reviews the impact of Empress Wu Zetian's leadership on traditional Chinese society in the novel The True Story of China's Cleopatra. The author uses a qualitative descriptive approach, a research approach by examining qualitative sources to examine the impact of Empress Wu Zetian's leadership on traditional Chinese society in the novel The True Story of China's Cleopatra. From the research that has been done, it is known that during her reign, Empress Wu Zetian has made many positive impacts on current traditional Chinese society. Abstract

Mandarin is one of an international language that is increasingly widely used but has a high level of difficulty to learn. The existing Chinese teaching methods need to be added new methods to make it more interesting, one of them is by using the Latin numeral method which is widely used in social media. This experimental research was conducted by taking respondents with the same sex and age, to prove the relationship between the independent variable (Mandarin learning process) and the dependent variable (Latin numeral method). The similarity of sounds in Latin numbers and pronunciation of Chinese Han characters (Chinese Homonym) is proven to help respondents understand the meaning of Chinese sentences more than 80%, even 4 of the 9 questions presented showed a difference in the correct answers before and after the test by more than 29%. Similar sound similarities (homonyms) between the pronunciation of Chinese Han characters and the pronunciation of numbers in Mandarin have a very important role in achieving the level of understanding of the respondents. These results indicate that Latin numerals can be used as a new way to learn Mandarin.Keywords – Chinese Teaching Methods, Latin Numeral, Homonym.
