Abstract

This study aimed to find out the significant effect of Argument-Driven Inquiry (ADI) learning model, student's academic ability, and the interaction between learning models and academic ability of the students’ argumentation skills. The population was all students of class VIII MTs Negeri 1 Bandar Lampung. The Samples were students of class VIII A and VIII B selected from the population by random cluster sampling technique. This study was quasi-experimental with Pretest Post-test Non Equivalent Control Group Design. The instrument used was argumentation skills test on the material motion systems in humans. The data were statistically analyzed using Ankova test and test Significant Difference (LSD) respectively at 5% significance level. The results showed that the learning ADI model, academic ability, and the interaction between the ADI model and academic abilities significantly influenced argumentation skills with significant value of each were 0,000; 0.007; and 0.038.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of learning Teams Games Tournament (TGT) in improving cognitive learning outcomes for VIII grade students on concept of respiratory system material. The design of this study was pretest -posttest control group. The sample in this study are 61 students of grades VIII3 and VIII5 of SMP Kartika  II-2 Bandar Lampung, were determined  through random sampling techniques. The data result were quantitative from pretest and posttest scores which consisted of 20 multiple choice questions. Based on the data obtained, the average N-gain of students in the experimental class was higher than students from control class. The Independent Sample t-test was used to analyzed the N-gain values to find out the improvement of students cognitive learning outcomes. The result showed that Teams Games Tournament (TGT) was effective in improving cognitive learning outcomes of 70% students on human respiratory system topic.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of use of wet preservation Phylum of Molluscs and Echinoderms with Inquiry Learning on student learning outcomes. The method of this study was quasi-experimental with nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The research samples were students of class X MIPA 1 and X MIPA 2 which were to 56 students that were selected by the Total Sampling technique. The type of data used were quantitative data and qualitative data. The instrument used in this study was in the form of multiple-choice questions, with the independent sample t-test SPSS 17.0 data processing technique. The results showed that the use of wet preservation Phylum of Molluscs and Echinoderms differed significantly on student learning outcomes in the experimental class with the control class. The average N-gain in the experimental class was 0.58, while the control class was 0.39, while the results of student responses to wet preservation Phylum of Molluscs and Echinoderms with Inquiry Learning have a good (78,57%) and very good (84,78%).

Abstract

Oral communication skills and cognitive learning outcomes are indicators of learning achievement. This research aimed to analyze students' oral communication skills and cognitive learning outcomes through the implementation of practicum-based TSTS. This research employed the quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The samples were determined using the purposive sampling technique. The results showed that the practicum-based TSTS learning model contributed to students' oral communication skills with excellent categories. Teaching and learning activities using the practicum-based TSTS affected students' cognitive learning outcomes (Sig. 0.838> 0.05). Thus, this research showed that the implementation of the practicum-based TSTS learning model on the Plantae topic can train students’ oral communication skills and affect their cognitive learning outcomes.
