Abstract

The purpose of this research was to investigate the population density of Alona sp. on yeast media with different concentrations. The study was conducted using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 3 replications for 21 days. The treatments given were A: 10 ppm yeast, B: 5 ppm yeast, C: 1 ppm yeast, D: horse manure, and E: well water. The initial stocking density of Alona sp. for each treatment was 15 individuals/300 mL of well water. The water quality parameter measured during the study was temperature. The results of the one-way ANOVA test showed that there were significant differences between treatments on the density level of Alona sp. (p <0.05). Tukey's further test showed that treatment B was the best with a density of Alona sp. as many as 8059 individuals/300 mL of well water. The temperature during the study, in the morning was 26 ± 0.52°C and in the afternoon was 26 ± 0.46°C.

Abstract

AbstractBubu fisheries have developed well in all Indonesian waters, especially in coastal areas that have coral reef and seagrass habitats. Generally, the commodities targeted for fishing are types of reef fish and seagrass beds that have a high selling value, such as snapper, grouper, baronang, yellowtail, lobster, octopus, and others. Bubu fishing gear or traps called bebihe local people are one of the fishing gear used to catch demersal fish or reef fish. The success of the bubu fishing operation is greatly influenced by the construction of the bebihe fishing gear itself and the treatment of the bait used. The use of seagrass bait, allegedly can increase the catching ability of the bebihe. However, scientific information on the use of seagrass as a bait for bebihe for fishing is not yet available. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of seagrass baits with the comparison of kitefish in the operation of bebihe; and identify the types of fish caught. This research was carried out in the waters of Beeng Laut island, South Central Tabukan District, Sangihe Islands Regency; is based on experimental methods. Six bebihe units were operated during nine trips to collect data; where three units use seagrass bait of the type Thalassia hemprichii, and the other three units use kite fish bait; and then the catch data is analyzed by a t-test.The catch of bebihe during the study amounted to 363 heads, as many as 345 were caught with seagrass baits, and 18 were caught with kite baits. Analysis of the t-test showed that at t count = 5.480 > t table 0.05;8 = 2.306; where this explains that the use of seagrass bait on bebihe, gives a noticeablely different catch compared to kitefish bait.

Abstract

The use of trap fishing gear using coral reefs as ballast and camouflage efforts cause damage to coral reefs (Iskandar 2011). Several types of fish and other aquatic biota have positive phototactic properties towards light, so that light attractors can be used as lures (bait) for fishing targets and have a great influence on increasing the effectiveness of fishing gear. The results of research by Reppie and Patty (2016), show that there is a significant influence of the use of light attractors on the operation of trap fishing equipment. For this reason, the results of this research will be applied to fishermen through community service activities in the form of mentoring and training for trap fishermen in Kampung Ambong. The aim of this service is to apply a light attractor to traps for trap fishermen in Likupang Village, Kampung Ambong, East Likupang District, Kab. North Minahasa, North Sulawesi. So that through community service activities in the form of assistance and training in the science and technology of making fish traps with light attractors, the number of fish catches can be increased, fishermen's income and business can develop by applying light attractors to the construction of fish traps.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The focus of this research is the Main Dimension Characteristics of Purse Seine Vessels based at the Tumumpa Coastal Fishing Port in Manado City, which includes the ratios or comparisons of the vessel's main sizes (LOA/BOA, LOA/D, and BOA/D), the relationships between the main sizes of the vessel (LOA vs BOA, LOA vs D, and BOA vs D), and the relationship of the main size of the vessel (LOA) with the carrying capacity (GT) and engine power (HP).The data analysis method was carried out using descriptive analysis through cross-tabulation and data presentation in the form of a curve of the relationship between the main ship sizes, the relationship between the main ship sizes, and the relationship between the main size of the ship's length (LOA) with load capacity (GT) and propulsion engine power (HP). Data analysis used the 'Curve Expert' application with a mathematical model: (1) the relationship between the main ship sizes using linear regression analysis Y=a+bx, and (2) the relationship between LOA with load capacity (GT) and propulsion engine power using non-linear regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that the comparison of the main dimensions of purse seine vessels in PPP Belang still has vessels that do not comply with the standard values proposed by Fyson (1985). There is a positive relationship between the main dimensions of the vessel (LOA/BOA, LOA/D, BOA/D) and between the main dimensions of the vessel (LOA) with load capacity (GT) and engine power (HP).
