Abstract

Teacher performance is a condition that shows the ability of teachers to carry out their duties and obligations during learning activities at school and can provide encouragement and influence to students so that learning objectives can be achieved and run well and as expected, which is shown in performance, actions. , and work performance. Welfare is important for teachers, because adequate welfare can improve the quality of the teaching and learning process, performance and professional abilities. The purpose of this study is to describe the performance and welfare of teachers in remote parts of Indonesia. The method used in this study is a qualitative approach with a literature study method that collects data from documentation of books, articles, memos, newspapers and others. The results of this study indicate that in an effort to reward teachers in remote areas or special areas, the government has issued Government Regulation No. 41 of 2009 concerning Professional Allowances for Teachers and Lecturers, Special Allowances for Teachers and Lecturers, and Honorary Professor Allowances. However, until now there are teachers who receive wages below the minimum salary set by the government. In addition, supporting factors for teacher performance such as infrastructure in remote schools still need a helping hand from the government. Therefore, it is time for Indonesia to develop into a quality nation, a nation capable of managing its human resources effectively.

Quality educational institutions correlate to the improvement of quality human resources. The better the quality of an educational institution, ideally it will produce good inputs, processes and outputs. Competition in the world of education that is so fast requires managers of educational institutions to think creatively, innovatively and responsively in maintaining and developing their institutions. One of the efforts that can be done is to implement strategic management in managing educational institutions to improve the quality of education. The purpose of this study is to describe strategic management in educational institutions. This type of research used is descriptive qualitative research with literature review method. The data analysis technique in this study refers to the opinion of Milles & Huberman, namely reducing data, presenting data so that it becomes information, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of strategic management can make the management of educational institutions more sensitive to external threats. At least strategic management can also prevent the emergence of various problems that come from inside and outside educational institutions and can also improve the ability of educational institutions to deal with problems. Strategic management will enable educational institutions to carry out all their operational activities in a more effective and efficient manner. Can make educational institutions easy to adapt to changes that occur. Educational institutions that use the concept of strategic management will be more profitable than educational institutions that do not apply it.

Abstract

In Indonesia, education is no longer purely a public good because some of it has been privatized by the government, so that people can no longer get it for free. It can be seen from the large number of private schools not only from local origins, but many international schools have been established in Indonesia, and also occur in various countries. This type of research is qualitative research using documentation study data collection methods in the form of relevant books and journals. Data analysis techniques start from data collection, data reduction, presentation and discussion of data then conclusions are drawn. The result of this research is that education can be a public good and can be a private good. Education as a public good because its provision is free, universal and equal access is the basis for producing other public goods. Education as a private good because of a necessity there is competition in getting a decent education. The competition must be purely a competition of intelligence and intellect, not a competition for money or position.
