Abstract

This paper overviews the use of portfolios as  potential “source” in publishing journal applied in Academic Writing course. The first part presents the idea behind the use the students’ Academic Writing’s portfolio in preparing the students’ publication. The students work with their portfolio project, meanwhile the teacher takes part as the editor who asses and evaluate the students’ best portfolio. The second part, the project is initiated by stating the objective of the project where the  students are to produce one good article at the end of the Academic Writing course as the final product. Both teacher and the students are  engaged that the main purpose of the course is to produce an academic article, therefore during the teaching and learning  process,   the students  are  given an intense and comprehensive discussion  about academic writing as the core subject as well as the practicing and revising the students’ work as the feedback. The students practice on quoting,  paraphrasing, referencing, and summarizing in their writing. Finally, the teacher revises the students’work in every meeting until the final draft. An important aspect  to do is also dealing with ISBN (International standard book number) procedures as one of requirement in publishing a book. Unfortunately, the recent online procedure of ISBN was very helpful which enables the teacher to publish the edited students’ portfolio in to a book.

Abstract

Artikel ini This paper viewpoints the use of reading comprehension test as a stratrgy to sharpening the students' questioning skills interchangeably.bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana siswa dapat berpikir secara kritis melalui kemampuan bertanya siswa terhadap pemahaman bacaan. As we commonly see and experience most teachers made reading comprehension test by asking their students to answer a series of questions or other types of reading test. Seperti yang biasa kita lihat dan alami kebanyakan guru membuat tes pemahaman bacaan dengan meminta siswa mereka untuk menjawab serangkaian pertanyaan atau jenis tes membaca lainnya. We should be curious on the students' questioning skills, still with the basis of reading comprehension test.A different ideas come to my mind to exchange the activities done by the teacher and the students, still related to the reading comprehension.Gagasan yang berbeda muncul di benak saya untuk menukar aktivitas yang dilakukan oleh guru dan siswa, masih terkait dengan pemahaman bacaan.In this case, the teacher has already provided the answer (of the questions) based on the reading text and the students are to formulate the possible questions appropriate to the answers written by the teacher.Dalam hal ini, guru telah memberikan jawaban (pertanyaan) berdasarkan teks bacaan dan siswa untuk merumuskan pertanyaan sesuai dengan jawaban yang ditulis oleh guru.Ini kemudian yang saya sebut dengan “berganti peran”. Akhirnya hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam memformulasikan pertanyaan berdasarkan teks bacaan yang ada . Hal ini bias dilihat dari kesalahan –kesalahan yang dibuat siswa dalam Naturally, there is no an “extreme” changes for classroom instruction. Memformulasikan pertanyaan, baik secara tata bahasa maupun artinya.

Abstract

Indonesia merupakan salah satu negara yang memiliki banyak pantai mengingat status Indonesia sebagai negara kepulauan. Hal ini tentu saja mengakibatkan Indonesia juga terkena masalah  illegal  fishing. Menurut Jurnal The use of trade measures against illicit fishing: Economic and legal consideration  menjelaskan penangkapan ikan merupakan ancaman bagi kelautan lingkungan dan masyarakat. Abstract

- Research has been conducted on the perception of usability, the perception of the speech, the perception of comfort, risk and confidence in the interest in using financial technology in the economics Faculty of Islamic University of Lamongan. This research aims to know the perception of usability, perception of the speech, perception of comfort, risk and confidence in the interest of using financial technology in economics Faculty of Islamic University of Lamongan. This study used quantitative approach using Survey research type. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling, the population in this research is the economics faculty student of the Islamic University of Lamongan school year 2019-2020, So that the selected sample as much as 95 students were counted from the Slovin formula. The analysis is done by spreading a poll or questionnaire online then conducted partial and simultaneous tests using independent sample T-Test with significant value 0,05. A partial test has been performed and produced tCount Greater than the ttable (X1 = 1,466<1,66216. X2 = 0,819>1,66216. X3 = 1,150<1,66216, X4 = -0,556<1,66216, X5 = 3,446<1,66216). So it can be known that the perception of usability, perception of benefits, perception of comfort, and risk does not have the influence of inopportune interest in using financial technology while the trust variable has partial influence on interest Using financial technology. And simultaneous testing has been conducted, produced FCount Greater than the Ftable (10,853>2,32). So it can be known that the perception of usability, the perception of ease, perception of comfort, risk and trust have a simultaneous influence on interest in using financial technology.

Abstract

Guru adalah sosok panutan untuk siswa. Keberadaannya di dunia pendidikan tidak bisa dipungkiri. Pendidikan sangat tergantung pada sosok yang satu ini,baik atau buruknya. Beliefs guru membentuk pemahaman bagaimana guru belajar mengajar, menciptakan pembelajaran yang bermakna bagi siswa sebagai pengajar. Selama pandemi Covid-19, pelaksanaan pembelajaran jarak jauh membuat siswa tidak antusias dan kurang memahami materi dan seringnya mereka menghabiskan waktu dengan gadget mereka. Pentingnya penelitian ini untuk meyakinkan setiap pendidik bahwa Beliefs guru merupakan solusi yang tepat untuk meningkatkan kemampuan menulis bahasa Inggris siswa melalui media digital. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui efektivitas Beliefs guru dalam meningkatkan ketrampilan menulis bahasa Inggris siswa melalui media digital. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen semu. Sampel untuk survey terdiri dari 32 siswa kelas 8A SMPN1 Tikung. Data penelitian dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan (1) angket (kuesioner); (2) pre-test; (3) perlakuan kelas; dan (4) post-test. Analisis data survey dengan pengujian ANOVA menggunakan SPSS. Hasil tes akan ditampilkan, apakah mencapai taraf signifikasi atau tidak. Penerapan beliefs terhadap kemampuan menulis bahasa Inggris siswa melalui media digital dapat (1) meningkatkan dan menarik minat siswa dalam pembelajaran menulis bahasa Inggris.

Abstract

This study aims at highlighting students’ ability in formulating questions words in English. This study is intended to make sure that students are able to express question words which enable them to communicate well in English. Therefore, a set of questions were administered and analyzed to identify the student’s ability in developing question words. The study employed 40 student’s English department at the 3rd semester at the odd semester 2022 in Universitas Islam Lamongan. Meanwhile, there were 5 categories of questions asked to the students involving auxiliary verb or yes/no questions. The results showed there were 14 and 11 students answering correctly for auxiliary ‘do’ there were 5 and 6 students correctly answered for question words using auxiliary ‘does. Additionally, there were no correct answer regarding the question using the verb’ rain’. The premature use of grammar and the insufficient knowledge on students’ literacy on the use of question words are identified as the major cause of the students’ difficulty in formulating good questions respectively. Further, there is also the effect of first language interference as well as the insufficient cognitive aspect on related vocabulary use.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to determine whether or not seventh graders at SMPN 1 Sumbergempol can improve their descriptive writing skills by using online memes.  In this quantitative study, the researcher used a quasi-experimental strategy.  The results showed that the experimental group averaged 79.00 points whereas the control group averaged 70.81. In addition, the findings (Sig 2-tailed) demonstrated a 0.000 significant value. The significance level (0.000 < 0.05) is lower than the significant value (Sig 2-tailed). We may conclude that the Alternative Hypothesis (Ha) is correct and reject the Null Hypothesis (H0) based on the findings of the significance value (Sig 2-tailed). The results show that seventh graders at SMPN 1 Sumbergempol benefit significantly from using Internet memes to improve their descriptive writing skills.  It can be concluded that internet Memes enable the students getting the ideas and lead them to the objects being described. Through the application of this media, students can easily create descriptive text based on images.

Abstract

This study aims to identify errors made by students in writing argumentative texts in English. The main focus of this study is to analyze the types of errors based on four assessment aspects: content, organization, language use, and vocabulary. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach, using data from 15 argumentative texts from 11th-grade students at MAN 1 Lamongan. Data analysis was conducted by examining each text based on these four aspects and then classifying the types of errors. The results showed that the most frequently encountered error aspect was language use, with a percentage of 62%, followed by content (14%), organization (13%), and vocabulary (11%). Errors found included incorrect grammar, irrelevant ideas, illogical paragraph structure, and inappropriate vocabulary. These findings indicate that students still struggle to construct logical and coherent arguments and use English accurately. This research is expected to provide teachers with considerations in providing more effective and focused writing lessons, as well as serve as a reference for further research to develop strategies to improve argumentative writing skills.
