Abstract

Kegel exercises are exercises that are used to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles by contracting the rectum and urethra which are held for 3-5 seconds and then relaxing them, weakened pelvic floor muscle contractions can cause urinary incontinence, which is one of the problems experienced by the elderly and needs to be done. get special attention along with the increasing elderly population in Indonesia. The purpose of this community service was to determine the effect of Kegel exercises on the frequency of urinary incontinence in the elderly. This community service socialization was carried out to 38 elderly people in Sidodadi Village, Beringin District. The results of this community service show that after doing Kegel exercises there is a 2.5% decrease in urinary incontinence frequency with a p value = 0.001, so that there is an effect of giving Kegel exercises on urinary incontinence. The results of this study indicate the need for regular Kegel exercises and it is hoped that health workers in the area will be able to apply Kegel exercises with the elderly on a regular basis. By doing Kegel exercises, it can provide exercise to the pelvic muscles related to the regulation of the urinary system in regulating the urinary process in the elderly. Elderly people and their families should be able to do Kegel exercises as an alternative to non-pharmacological techniques that are easy to do without harmful effects in providing intervention and prevention in the elderly who experience urinary incontinence.

Abstract

Cesarean section is a commonly performed delivery procedure that may cause postoperative pain due to tissue incision. Inadequately managed pain can delay the patient’s recovery process. One of the non-pharmacological interventions that can be applied to reduce pain is early mobilization. This study aimed to determine the effect of early mobilization on pain intensity among post-cesarean section patients in Ward 2B at Grandmed Hospital Lubuk Pakam in 2025. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The sample consisted of 30 respondents selected using purposive sampling technique. Pain intensity was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) before and after the early mobilization intervention. Data were analyzed using a paired t-test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that before the intervention, the majority of respondents experienced severe pain (66.7%), whereas after early mobilization, most respondents experienced a decrease to mild pain (76.7%). The mean pain intensity decreased from 0.6667 to 0.2333 after the intervention. Statistical analysis revealed a p-value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant effect of early mobilization on reducing pain intensity. In conclusion, early mobilization is effective in reducing pain intensity in post-cesarean section patients and can be recommended as a non-pharmacological intervention in postoperative care.

Abstract

The habit of consuming coffee can be one of the triggers for gastritis, because the caffeine content in it can stimulate increased production of stomach acid. This causes excess gas to accumulate in the stomach, which often causes complaints such as bloating, nausea, and pain in the pit of the stomach. Individuals who regularly consume coffee are at greater risk of suffering from gastritis than those who do not consume it. This research will analyze the perception and impact of coffee consumption patterns on gastritis in Generation Z at Nurse Station 2D, Grandmed Hospital, Lubuk Pakam. The method used is quantitative research with a Cross-Sectional Study design. The study population was patients in the Inpatient Room 2D of Grandmed Hospital, where the sample was selected using purposive sampling. The results of the Chi-Square test showed a p value of 0.003, which means that there is a relationship between coffee consumption patterns and the risk of gastritis in patients in the Inpatient Room 2D, Grandmed Hospital, Lubuk Pakam.

Abstract

The increasing rate of Sectio Caesarea (SC) deliveries has highlighted the need for effective postoperative care to minimize complications and promote maternal recovery. Early mobilization is a recommended intervention; however, its implementation is often limited by inadequate maternal knowledge and practical skills. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of post-Sectio Caesarea mothers regarding early mobilization to accelerate postoperative recovery, reduce the risk of complications, and enhance maternal independence during the postpartum period. The program adopted an educational-participatory approach incorporating health education, demonstrations, hands-on practice, and direct mentoring. Program effectiveness was evaluated using a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 20 post-Sectio Caesarea mothers at Grandmed Hospital, Lubuk Pakam. Participants' knowledge was assessed using structured questionnaires administered before and after the educational intervention, while practical skills were evaluated through direct observation using a standardized checklist. Participant satisfaction was also measured through a feedback questionnaire. The findings demonstrated a substantial improvement in participants' knowledge, with the proportion of mothers categorized as having good knowledge increasing from 15.0% before the intervention to 80.0% afterward, whereas the proportion with poor knowledge declined from 50.0% to 0%. Furthermore, 45.0% of participants achieved a very good skill level and 40.0% achieved a good skill level, indicating that 85.0% successfully performed early mobilization according to the recommended procedures. Participant satisfaction was highly positive, with 70.0% reporting being very satisfied and 30.0% satisfied with the program. In conclusion, an educational-participatory approach integrating health education, educational media, demonstrations, practical training, and mentoring effectively improved maternal knowledge, practical skills, and readiness to perform early mobilization safely, thereby supporting faster postoperative recovery and improving the quality of postpartum care.
