Abstract

ABSTRACTPatient safety has become a global issue of concern in health care. Various efforts have been made to improve patient safety in the hospital by involving the health team, one of which is a nurse, a health worker who interacts 24 hours with patients. The role of nurses is a major factor in improving patient safety in the hospital. The purpose of this study was to develop a role model for implementing nurses in improving patient safety at Rumah Sakit Umum Deli Medan. This research was a qualitative research with an action research approach involving 15 nurses as participants. Data collection was carried out by means of focus group discussions (FGD), observation, and questionnaires about the role in patient safety. The data obtained were evaluated using content analysis and simple statistics. The results of this study were in the form of a blueprint for the role model of the implementing nurse in improving patient safety, with the outcome of the increasing knowledge of the implementing nurse. Abstract

One of the recovery processes for postoperative appendectomy patients can be attempted by planning and implementing early mobilization, namely the steps that are carried out immediately on postoperative patients starting from lifting the upper and lower extremities and doing right and left tilts, and sitting on the side of the bed until the patient get out of bed, stand up and begin to learn to walk with assistance according to the patient's condition. This study aims to determine the relationship between early mobilization and the duration of wound healing after appendectomy surgery at Grandmed Lubuk Pakam Hospital. This research is a quantitative research with a cross sectional design. The research population is the entire object of research or the object under study. The population in this study were all post-op appendectomy patients who were being treated at the GrandMed Lubuk Pakam Hospital in 2021 as many as 63 people. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling with a sample of 15 people. Data analysis was performed by univariate, bivariate with Chi-square test at 95% confidence level. The results of this study were 11 respondents (73.3%) with good wound healing, 10 (66.7%) who did not mobilize well, and 10 respondents (66.7%) who did not mobilize well. 4 people (26,7) with moderate wound healing as many as 5 people (33,3%). The results of data analysis showed that there was a relationship between early mobilization and the duration of wound healing in appendectomy patients at Grandmed Lubuk Pakam Hospital in 2021 with p value = 0.001. Respondents who have an early mobilization rate are likely to have faster wound healing. It is recommended to post-op appendictomy patients to mobilize early for better wound healing.

Abstract

Communication is the most important thing in providing services to patients because everything related to Covid-19 patients must be conveyed, well, and correctly. On this basis, adjustments are needed from various parties to communicate so that the message to be conveyed regarding patients can run smoothly. Until now this continues to be a concern of all medical personnel and adjustments are needed in communicating considering the obstacles experienced. This study used a cross-sectional design. The location of research was held at Bhayangkara General Hospital, Banda Aceh. Sampling technique with random sampling with a sample of 57 patients. Data collection using the observation table instrument. The statistical test used the Chi-square test. The majority of room head supervision is in the good category 55 people (96.5%). The results of the study obtained were that the majority of nurses' SBAR communication was good as many as 54 people (94.7), and the relationship between the two variables between the implementation of supervision of the head of the room and the implementation of SBAR communication obtained the p-value of 0.000. Suggestions in this study are expected to be the basis for hospital management policy to improve hospital services, especially in terms of implementing the supervision of the head of the room and the implementation of nurse SBAR communication. This research can play a major role in terms of providing nursing services in the future. The increase in nursing communication services can reduce unwanted events.

Abstract

Hemodialysis is a dialysis method to secrete bodily fluid when the kidneys are progressively or acutely unable to do it. This research aims to know the effect of administering vitamin C lozenges on the increasing saliva secretion of hemodialysis patients. The research used an experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test design. The T-test result was mostly dependent (paired sample test). A purposive sampling technique was used to acquire 30 hemodialysis patients. The result shows that 26 patients (86.7%) have an increase in saliva secretion while four patients (13.3%) have not. The p-value was 0.000 (p<0.05). It can be concluded that administering vitamin C lozenges to hemodialysis patients increases saliva secretion. This research suggests that Royal Prima Medan Public Hospital administer vitamin C lozenges as an alternative medicine to increase the saliva secretion of hemodialysis patients.

Abstract

Hypertension or high blood pressure is an abnormal increase in blood pressure in the arteries or an increase in systolic blood pressure of more than 140 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure of more than 90 mmHg in two measurements with an interval of five minutes in a fairly calm/resting state. Common signs and symptoms that arise from hypertension are sore neck (neck pain). Neck pain due to hypertension makes the comfort needs of hypertensive patients not met. One of the non-pharmacological measures to reduce or overcome neck pain is a warm compress. A warm compress is giving a feeling of warmth / heat in a certain area. neck pain scale in hypertensive patients before warm compress therapy, said moderate pain 4 respondents (28.6%), severe pain 10 respondents (71.4%) with a standard deviation of 0.469. The pain scale of hypertensive patients after warm compress therapy was said to be moderate for 12 respondents (85.7%), the weight of 2 respondents (14.3%) with a standard deviation of 0.426. Hypertensive patients who experienced severe neck pain decreased, before being given treatment as many as 10 people, after being given treatment as many as 2 people. The application of warm compresses to hypertensive patients continues to be carried out for non-pharmacological therapy that can be carried out by the community at home.
