Abstract

People suffered from sciatica, pain along the sciatic nerve, require therapy up to 4 months or longer to achieve controlled-pain. The main treatment for sciatica is physiotherapy; medication is only secondary therapy. This quasi-experimental study aimed to investigate the effects of counseling and drug information services (DIS) by pharmacist on medication adherence and duration of therapy. In the study conducted in March‒July 2018, 128 ambulatory sciatica patients newly diagnosed at Dr. Suyoto Hospital, Jakarta, were divided randomly into two groups, each of 64 patients. The intervention group was given counseling and DIS by clinical pharmacists (3 times with interval of 4 weeks) as well as brochures. Primary data on medication adherence were obtained prospectively through interviews using a validated questionnaire, before the intervention and 4 weeks after the last counseling and DIS by clinical pharmacists. Secondary data (up to 16 weeks), including pain scores, were obtained from medical records and the patient administrative data. The results showed that sociodemographic characteristics as well as distribution of initial adherence and initial pain levels of the two groups were not significantly different (Mann-Whitney test, p>0.05). After the last intervention, the proportion of patients with high-adherence in the intervention group (12.5%) was higher than in the control group (6.3%), as was the proportion of patient achieved controlled-pain (84.4% versus 76.6%). The results of survival analysis showed that the duration of treatment by which 50% of patients achieved controlled-pain (median survival) was significantly shorter in the intervention group (85 days) than in the control group (92 days), while the probability of achieving controlled-pain (hazard ratio) in the intervention group was 1.7 times of that in the control group. In conclusion, counseling and DIS by pharmacist can improve the effectiveness of sciatica treatment, although the main therapy for the nerve pain is not medication.

Abstract

Kepesertaan JKN selalu meningkat setiap tahunnya.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the influence of the marketing mix on purchasing decisions which have an impact on consumer loyalty in online pharmacies. This research uses a quantitative approach by collecting data through questionnaires distributed to 100 respondents who are online pharmacy users in the DKI Jakarta area. Data analysis is carried out in order to process data more thoroughly and accurately so as to obtain the expected results. The model used in this research is the causality model and to test the hypothesis proposed in this research the analysis technique used is SEM (Stuctural Equation Modelling). The research results show 1) The influence of online pharmacy marketing mix on purchasing decisions: Product variables have no influence on purchasing decisions; Price variables have an influence on purchasing decisions; Distribution variables have an influence on purchasing decisions; Promotional variables that influence purchasing decisions. 2) The influence of online pharmacy marketing mix on consumer loyalty: Product variables have an influence on consumer loyalty; Product variables have an influence on consumer loyalty; Distribution variables have no influence on consumer loyalty; Promotion variables have no influence on consumer loyalty. 3) The influence of the impact of purchasing decisions on consumer loyalty, meaning that if there is an increase in purchasing decisions, it will increase consumer loyalty

Abstract

Hypertension is the leading cause of cardiovascular disease in the world and contributes to 10 million deaths every year. Non-adherence is an important factor in uncontrolled hypertension, thus leading to reasons for non-adherence to treatment or medication. This study aims to identify the factors related to adherence to treatment for outpatients at Leuwiliang Regional Hospital, Bogor Regency. This study used a quantitative descriptive approach with cross-sectional data. The study population consisted of all outpatient hypertension patients at Leuwiliang Regional Hospital in 2023. Sampling used the purposive sampling technique with a sample of 312 patients. Data were analyzed descriptively and analytically with the Spearman-rho correlation test. The results showed that the level of adherence among patients with hypertension was mostly moderate (39.7%). Treatment adherence was related to self-motivation (p-value = 0.000), but the relationship was weak, with a correlation coefficient of r = 0.258. The level of knowledge, family support, and role of health workers did not have a significant relationship to the level of adherence. The correlation value between the level of knowledge and the level of adherence had a negative relationship, although it was not significant. These might be due to knowledge, family support, and the role of health workers might not directly influence the level of compliance but might be supported by other variables such as age, gender, education, patient access to health facilities, patient economic level, length of hypertension, economic profile, and patient hypertension level (length of hypertension), but in this study no relationship analysis was carried out.
