Abstract

Student learning results and retention is still low on periodic system learning elements caused by a lack of motivation students in the periodic table system memorize elements and lack of reward when students are already able to memorize the table Periodic system of such elements. So it requires a learning method that can motivate students in deleting periodic table system elements. The study aims to determine the difference in outcomes and retention of learning between students taught with and without using the chemical token method on the periodic element system material, knowing the great effectiveness of the chemical token method of the results and Student learning retention on periodic element system materials in class X MAN 3 Pontianak. This research uses the type of experimental Quasi research with the design of control group design. The sampling technique uses saturated sampling with the X-class of MIA as the experimental class and X-grade IIS 2 as the control class. Data collection techniques using measurement, observation and interview techniques, while the data collection tools are test results and learning retention, interpreters and observation sheets. Analysis Data Using Test-T shows that there are differences in learning outcomes while learning retention differences are known through the Mann-Whitney U test with the result that there is a difference in learning retention between students taught with and without Using a chemical token method. Learning with the chemical token method affects student learning outcomes by 22.91% by medium category, and 10-day student study retention of 36.86% with high category.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the student’s problems in comprehending the Mol concept and Chemical Calculations. It is aimed at producing the student’s worksheet based on Learning Cycle 5E at the Mole Concept and Chemical Calculations for the tenth grade students of Science and Math class of SMA Negeri 1 Mandor. Using Research and Develoment (R&D) model of 4D, this study focused on three stages of the model; Define, Design, and Develop. The sample of this study were 21 students of SMA Negeri 1 Mandor. The data collection techniques were an interview, observation, measurement, and indirect communication. To complete the data, this study employed validation sheet, student’s and teacher’s questionnaires, and the result of pre-and post-tests as the instruments. The study revealed that the validation criteria validated by the experts was strongly valid (99,65%), and the media criteria was also strongly valid (95,83%). The results of the practicality of the try small-scale out were 81,12%, and the main try out were 95,83%. In other words, both small-scale and main try out were considered practical. Additionally, the N-gain showed the effectiveness criteria of the student’s worksheet based on Learning Cycle 5E at the Mole Concept and Chemical Calculations on the main try out by 0,84% (highly satisfactory). In conclusion, the student’s worksheet based on Learning Cycle 5E at the Mole Concept and Chemical Calculations is valid and suitable to be used as the learning materials for the tenth grade students of science and math class of SMA Negeri 1 Mandor.

Abstract

The background of this research is lack of student’s learning to the tenth grade students of SMA Adisucipto Sungai Raya, due to the less of student’s comprehension especially about concept of compound hydrocarbon system. Therefore, it was needed the method of learning to increase the student’s comprehension about appropriate concept with characteristic both of the subject and student. The aim of this research was to know the differences of student’s learning and the increasement of student’s learning by using cooperative learning method type RTE in chapter of compound hydrocarbon system with couple card. The kind of this research was Pre-Experimental one group pre-test and post-test design research with subjects of this research were thirteen students from grade XI IPA of SMA Adisucipto Sungai Raya. The technique and the instrument to collect the data was using student’s learning test, observation, and interview. The result of data analysis showed the mean score of pre-test was 27,21 and the mean score of post-test was 75,86. The statistic result of Wilcoxon showed that the score was 0,01 less than α (0,01 < 0,05) that mean there were the differences of student’s learning and the influence of student’s learning by using cooperative learning method type RTE with couple card. The increasement of student’s learning was known by counting the gain score of 0,66 in medium score categorize. In this case, the cooperative learning method type RTE with couple card can be used in chapter of compound hydrocarbon system to increase the student’s learning.Keywords: Couple Card, Rotating Trio Exchange (RTE), Compound Hydrocarbon System

Abstract

This research is motivated by the low activity and learning outcomes of students in MAN Kubu Raya, especially in Hydrocarbon Material of Chemistry Subject due to lack of students’ understanding about the concept of Hydrocarbon. Therefore, it is needed to use a learning media in accordance with the characteristics of the material and students who are expected to improve students’ learning activities and outcomes. This research aimed to find out whether there were differences in students’ activities and learning outcomes also the effectiveness of using the Chemistry Secret Card Media (KARAMI) on the activities and learning outcomes between students taught by using KARAMI and students taught without using the media. This current research was in form of Quasy Experimental design with the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The sample was selected by using purposive sampling technique that were XI Science 2 as the experimental class and XI Science 3 as the control class. The technique of collecting data in this research used observation sheets, learning outcomes tests (pretest-posttest) and interviews. Abstract

The background of this research was the lack of student’s learning to the eleventh grade student’s of IPA 2 of SMA Panca Bhakti Pontianak in chemistry especially molecule form material based on theory hybridization. Therefore, it was needed the method of learning to increase the student’s comprehension about appropriate concept with characteristic both of the subject and student. The aim of this research was to know the differences of student’s learning result between student’s which was taught by using TTW learning method in assist of question card media with the student’s which was taught by using lecture method in molecule form material based on theory hybridization. The kind of this research wascontrol grouppretest-posttest design. The technique and the instrument to collect the data were using student’s learning test, observation, and interview. The result of data analysis showed the mean score of control class pretest was 36,91 and the mean score of posttest was 41,15 while the mean score of experiment class pretest was 31,46 and the mean score of posttest was 66,58. The statistic result of U Mann- Whitneyshowed that the score was 0,00 less than α (0,00<0,05) which meanth the differences of student’s learning result which was taught by using TTW learning method in assist of question card media with the student’s which taught by using lecture method. The increasement of student’s learning result was known by counting the effect sizescore 1,06 in high score categorize. In this case, the learning method TTW with question card can be used in molecule form material based on theory hybridization to increase the student’s learning result.Keywords: Molecule From Based on Theory Hybridization, Question Card, Think Talk Write (TTW)

Abstract

The learning media in SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Pontianak quite varied, but they are limited to print media that do not contain local potential. One media that expected to be used by students of SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Pontianak in learning Biology is digital comics. The purpose of this study is to produce digital comic learning media based on the local potential of West Kalimantan which is valid and to get a positive response from students. This research was carried out in the even semester of the 2021/2022 academic year using Research and Development with a modified 4D model, namely, Define, Design and Develop without Dissemination. The data collection technique was a validation questionnaire filled in by 9 validators on aspects of media, material and language. Student responses were measured using a questionnaire on small-scale trials and large-scale trials. The results showed that the developed digital comic media obtained very valid scores on the media aspect (92.38%) and language aspects (82.42%), while on the material aspect it obtained a valid value (79.58%). Students gave very positive responses in small-scale trials (96%) and large-scale trials (99%). It was concluded that the media developed are valid and acknowledged very positive responses from students.

Abstract

This study aims to develop an experimental-based learning media in the form of a biobattery made from banana peel waste for the topic of voltaic cells. The research method used is the ADDIE development model. The analysis stage was carried out through curriculum review, observation of student needs, and identification of banana peels as a potential electrolyte material. In the design stage, a worksheet was prepared that was integrated with the procedure for making a simple biobattery. The development process included fabricating a biobattery from banana peels, assembling a simple voltaic cell, and creating an interactive learning media. Validation was carried out by material experts and media experts, resulting in an average feasibility score of 0.91 and 0.93, respectively, which are categorized as high. Practicality was assessed through a questionnaire, with small group trials achieving a score of 73.96% (practical) and field trials reaching 94.89% (very practical). Limited trials involving students in grades XI and XII showed that this media not only improved conceptual understanding of voltaic cells but also fostered environmental awareness through the utilization of organic waste. The evaluation results indicate that the biobattery learning media is suitable for use as an alternative tool for contextual and environmentally friendly chemistry practicums.

Abstract

This research is a development study that aims to design and assess the feasibility of an integrated laboratory kit for reaction materials. The development of the kit follows the ADDIE model, which includes the stages of analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research was conducted at SMA Negeri 3 Kota Kubu Raya using purposive sampling. The research subjects consisted of 12 students from class XI MIPA 2 for a small-scale trial and 25 students from class XI MIPA 1 for a large-scale trial. Data were collected through written tests and student response questionnaires. The analysis included instrument validity testing, learning outcome analysis, and assessment of student responses to the KIT. The validation results showed that the developed KIT was suitable for use as a learning medium in terms of media and content. Student responses were also very positive, with an average questionnaire score of 80% for the learning aspect, 80% for the media aspect, and 73% for the visual communication aspect. Overall, the developed reaction KIT was considered practical, interesting, and effective for use in chemistry laboratory activities at school
