Abstract

The spread of Covid-19 has affected every sector, including education. The learning process that used to take place in the classroom has now become virtualized. However, this exacerbates pupils' difficulties in learning mathematics, which they previously considered challenging even in offline learning activities. To deal with this challenge, it is vital to describe alterations in the learning process under this pandemic situation. This qualitative research was carried out through interviews and questionnaires. The participants were seven teachers and seven students from various junior high schools in Bukittinggi with varying accreditation. Structured interviews, both online and in-person, were used to collect data. The result shows that students could understand the subject better before the pandemic. During the pandemic, the percentage of students who understood the material learning decreased by 10%. However, the percentage of people who use online media as a learning resource has increased by 50%. Overall, the assessment done by teachers on the cognitive aspects of a pandemic by Minimum Completeness Criteria (MCC) remains at 75. In the future, there will be a trend toward the use of e-learning and the development of technology-based learning media in the classroom.Penyebaran wabah Pandemi Covid-19 telah berdampak pada semua sektor termasuk pendidikan. Proses pembelajaran yang awalnya berlangsung tatap muka sekarang beralih secara virtual. Padahal sebelum pembelajaran daring dimulai, siswa masih kesulitan dalam mempelajari matematika. Oleh karena itu, mendeskripsikan perubahan apa saja yang ada selama proses pembelajaran daring penting dilakukan untuk mengatasi masalah ini Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dimana sampel diambil adalah tujuh orang guru dan tujuh orang siswa SMP/MTsN dari sekolah yang memiliki akreditasi berbeda di Bukittinggi. Secara keseluruhan, penilaian yang dilakukan guru cenderung pada aspek kognitif selama pandemi dengan Kriteria Ketuntasan Minimum (KKM) tetap 75. Dimasa yang akan datang, akan ada tren penggunaan e-learning di sekolah dan pengembangan media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi.

Abstract

Education aims to educate the next generation of the progress of a nation. Quality teachers will form a smart generation. The faculty of tarbiyah IAIN Bukitinggi is an institution that prints teacher graduates. Therefore, prospective teacher students especially in mathematics education (ME) need to be prepared for their competence to become professional teachers. One of them is by implementing Lesson Study in the Micro Teaching class. This research is a qualitative-descriptive. The instruments used are the observation method with the competency scoring rubric for preparing lesson plans and teaching skills. This research was conducted on ten participants who took microteaching courses. The application of lesson study to prospective teacher students in the microteaching class is carried out according to the stages in Lesson Study, namely plan, do, and see. The results of the study showed that the competency in preparing lesson plan and the teaching ability of prospective teacher students in the microteaching class experienced an increase in the average value. This is also supported by the response of prospective teacher students about the highest implementation of Lesson Study in the LS item can improve the skills of opening and closing lessons by 37 or 92.5%. The lowest score found in LS items can improve the skill of compiling assessment instruments by 27 or 67.5%. Abstrak Pendidikan bertujuan untuk mencerdaskan generasi penerus demi kemajuan suatu bangsa. Guru yang memiliki kompetensi bagus akan berperan dalam pembentukan generasi cerdas. Fakultas Tarbiyah IAIN Bukitinggi merupakan salah satu kampus yang mencetak lulusan keguruan. Oleh karena itu, mahasiswa calon guru khususnya program studi pendidikan matematika (PMTK) perlu diberikan pembekalan untuk menjadi guru yang profesional.Hal ini dapat dilakukan dengan menerapkan Lesson Study pada kelas Micro Teaching. Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif-deskriptif yang menggunakan instrumen berupa observasidan rubrik penskoran kompetensi menyusun RPP serta kemampuan mengajar. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada sepuluh orang mahasiswa calon guru matematika yang mengambil mata kuliah micro teaching di IAIN Bukittinggi. Penerapan lesson study pada mahasiswa PMTK di kelas microteaching dilaksanakan melalui tiga tahapan yaitu plan,do, dan see. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kompetensi menyusun RPP dan kemampuan mengajar mahasiswa calon guru di kelas microteaching mengalami peningkatan nilai rata-rata. Hal ini juga didukung oleh respon mahasiswa calon guru tentang penerapan Lesson Study tertinggi terdapat pada item LS dapat meningkatkan keterampilan membuka dan menutup pelajaran sebesar 37 atau 92,5 %. Skor terendah terdapat pada item LS dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menyusun instrumen penilaian sebesar 27 atau 67,5 %. Kata kunci: Lesson Study, Kemampuan Mengajar, Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran

Abstract

Gender equality is a global trend that is a matter for discussion, including in mathematics learning. The ability to use gender-based technology is fundamental to improving the quality of learning. This research aims to describe differences in ICT use strategies by mathematics teachers and differences in students' technology use skills based on gender in mathematics learning. This research is qualitative research with a literature study approach. The indicators for mathematics teachers are viewed from the aspects of the teacher's level of knowledge of ICT, use of technology per hour per day and attitude. Meanwhile, the differences in the ability of male and female students to utilize ICT in learning mathematics can be noticed from the aspects of perception, students' experience and attitudes. The results of the discussion show that mathematics teachers in Indonesia tend to use technology not constructively or only as a learning tool. Female teachers have better strategies or approaches to teaching the integration of technology in mathematics learning while male teachers are more proficient in using or operating digital tools. On the other hand, male students' skills in using technology are better than female students. However, female students can also have the same abilities as males if they have a positive view of integrating technology into mathematics learning.

Abstract

The integration of technology in mathematics education is a tangible manifestation of the rapid development of the times. Therefore, teachers must use technological devices to ensure students stay competitive in the global arena. This study aims to describe the distribution of TPACK skills among pre-service mathematics teachers and monitor their development during their microteaching experiences. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The participants in the study were eleven students at UIN Sjech M Djamil Djambek Bukittinggi who were taking a microteaching course in the even semester of 2023/2024. The instruments used were the TPACK questionnaire and observation sheets. Based on the observation, in the first session, some subjects were unable to use or operate the software they had downloaded, and many quiz applications encountered problems because they could not be opened. The challenges faced included paid software and issues operating the software on different laptops. It is suspected that one student did not attend because she was not prepared to present. Additionally, the development of skills for each TPACK aspect generally showed improvement in subsequent sessions. The subjects generally used presentation slide applications such as Microsoft PowerPointTM and CanvaTM to explain the material and conducted evaluations by giving quizzes through applications such as QuizizzTM, KahootTM, WordwallTM, and BamboozleTM. The results show that the students' skills based on the TPACK Questionnare were at a moderate level with an average score of 3.38. However, there are differences between the results of the questionnaire and the observations carried out. For instance, in the aspect of Technological Pedagogical Knowledge especially for item "I can utilize available technologies as a learning aid". The questionnaire showed a high rating 3.63. On the other hand, observations indicate that students' abilities are still lacking, indicating that students have much to learn, especially in the use of technology in the learning process to enhance the learning environment in mathematics.

Abstract

Character education based on local wisdom is a strategic approach in building the integrity of students in the midst of globalization challenges. One of the Minangkabau cultural heritages that is rich in character values is Kato Nan Ampek, which is a communication system that includes: Kato Mandata, Kato Manurun, Kato Mandaki, Kato Malereang. This research is a Systematic Literature Review using the PRISMA method. The database used is Google Scholar. The results showed that 38 articles were selected in 2025. Articles that meet the inclusion criteria are 5 articles. Analysis of the article shows that Kato Nan Ampek is very relevant to be integrated in learning in elementary schools in instilling character values. In addition, the study of Kato Nan Ampek has philosophical depth and high pedagogical potential as a cultural instrument in character education.

Abstract

Geometry becomes an important component in mathematics which is learned by students at every stage. Learning style is one of the factors that influence students' geometry abilities. Therefore, it is important to describe how students' geometry abilities are viewed from learning styles. This research is quantitative descriptive research. The instruments used were a learning style questionnaire and a van hiele thinking test (VHGT). The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistical techniques with percentages, namely data from geometry tests that are successfully collected and then analyzed using a category assessment scale. The instruments used were the learning style questionnaire and the Van Hiele thinking test (VHGT). The research subjects were 276 high school students from eleven different schools in West Sumatra with the dominant learning style being visual as many as 104 students, followed by auditory as many as 98 and kinesthetic as many as 74. The results showed that the average students' geometric ability was 47.4 (on a scale of 0-100). In addition, students with a visual learning style have a higher average geometric ability compared to other learning styles. Therefore, it is hoped that teachers can consider using learning models that apply the Van Hiele level of thinking and the dominant learning style in geometry classes, for example by integrating technology.

Abstract

Geometry skills are an important component not only for students majoring in mathematics, but also for non-mathematics students, including students at the National Land College. This is because the science of geometry plays an important role in everyday life, such as measurement. This research is quantitative descriptive. The instrument used in this research was the VHGT test with 25 questions. The subjects in this research were 53 first semester D1 students majoring in cadastral measurement and mapping.   The research results show that the highest level of geometric thinking that can be achieved is level 3 at 7.5%. The dominant geometric thinking level of students is at level 1 at 34%, followed by level 2 at 22.6%. The percentage of students who are at level 0 and not fit is 35.9%.   Apart from that, the distribution of learning styles possessed by students is kinesthetic at 45% and is able to reach the highest level of geometric thinking, informal deduction level. Furthermore, visual was 37.7% and was able to reach the highest level of informal deduction and auditory was 5.6% which reached the highest level of thinking at the analytical level. In other words, the existence of students who are still at level 0 and not fit shows that their geometry skills still need to be improved. Kemampuan geometri menjadi komponen penting tidak hanya bagi taruna yang mengambil jurusan matematika, namun juga bagi taruna non matematika termasuk taruna di Sekolah Tinggi Pertanahan Nasional. Hal ini dikarenakan ilmu geometri yang berperan penting dalam kehidupan sehari-hari seperti pengukuran. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes VHGT sebanyak 25 soal. Subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah 53 taruna D1 semester satu jurusan pengukuran dan pemetaan kadastral.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat berpikir geometri tertinggi yang mampu dicapai adalah level 3 sebanyak 7,5 %. Tingkat berpikir dominan taruna berada pada level 1 sebanyak 34 %, disusul level 2 sebanyak 22,6 %. Persentase taruna yang berada pada level 0 dan not fit sebanyak 35,9%.  Selain itu, distribusi gaya belajar yang dimiliki oleh taruna adalah kinestetik sebesar 45 % dan mampu mencapai tingkat berpikir geometri tertinggi level deduksi informal. Selanjutnya, visual sebesar 37,7 % dan mampu mencapai level tertinggi pada deduksi informal serta auditori sebesar 5,6 % yang mencapai tingkat berpikir tertinggi pada level analisis. Dengan kata lain, adanya taruna yang masih berada pada level 0 dan not fit menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan geometri masih perlu ditingkatkan.
