Abstract

Bone implant plates are only used temporarily during the healing process of a fractured bone. Once the healing process is complete, the implants need to be surgically removed. By using biodegradable material there will be no need for an implant removal surgery, because the implant plate will be degraded and destroyed naturally in the body. This biodegradable implant would need to bestrong enough to handle the body's weight and movement to be able to replace the bone physiologic function until the fractured bone is completely healed. A possible biodegradable material that could be degraded and destroyed naturally in the body is magnesium. However, magnesium has its limitation, its ability to resist corrosive properties is faster than a fractured bone healing process. Therefore, the plastic deformation process is done by suppressing the platewith 1%, 2%, and 3% degradation. It will increase the magnesium's ability to resist the dynamic force and improve its mechanical properties, so that the biodegradable implant plate can perform its function as a substitute for the fractured bone until the healing process is completed and degraded naturally only afterwards. The corrosive body fluid environment and recurring loads retained by the implant plate during the bone fixation process leads to fatigue of the implant plate. The crack rate testing of deformed magnesium alloys after immersion process in the physiological fluid DMEM can provide useful information on magnesium mechanical strength enhancement and subsequently whether it is feasible to be used as biodegradable bone implant plate.

Abstract

Abstract

This research aims to: (1) know the basic competencies needed in the field of mechanical industri, (2) know the exist or absence of basic competencies taught in the TKRO expertise program but needed in the field of mechanical industri, (3) know the exist or absence of basic competencies that are not taught in the TKRO expertise program but are needed in the field of mechanical industri, (4) know the level of relevance of basic competencies in the automotive light vehicle engineering expertise program applied to mechanical work competencies. This research is a quantitative descriptive study with a survey approach. The subjects of this research are teachers who teach productive subjects on the competence of automotive light vehicle engineering expertise Bandung as well as 3 respondents from 3 different agencies. The data retrieval technique used in this study uses questionnaires. The analytical technique used is quantitative descriptive analysis with percentages. The results of this study show that: (1) there is relevance between the competence taught and the competence compiled by the government, (2) The number of competencies from schools that are less relevant to the industri there are 2 competencies, namely the competence to improve rims and present the results of evaluation of 2D and 3D sketches of orthogonal projection standards, (3) The number of basic competencies that have not been accommodated in the automotive light vehicle engineering expertise program to mechanical work competencies consists of 14 additional competencies, (4) there is relevance of the basic competence of the automotive light vehicle engineering productive program between schools, governments and agencies, (5) the level of relevance of basic competencies of automotive light vehicle engineering expertise programs to mechanical work competencies with percentage values (85.52%) which fall into the category is very relevant.

Abstract

This study aims to design and evaluate an Augmented Reality (AR) application for workshop tool recognition, with a focus on enhancing interactivity and student engagement in technical education. Developed using the ADDIE methodology—Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation—the application integrates Blender for 3D modelling, Unity for development, and Vuforia for AR tracking. Usability was assessed through the System Usability Scale (SUS), involving 48 students from workshop practicum and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) courses. The application achieved a SUS score of 50.5, classified as Fair according to the classification by Bangor et al. (2009). Key usability aspects were rated positively, including comfort (4.2), ease of use (4.0), functional integration (3.9), stability (4.1), and ease of learning (4.3). While the study highlights the application's potential as an effective learning tool, limitations include a small, institution-specific sample size. Future research should examine its adaptability in broader educational contexts and assess its impact on student learning outcomes. This study supports the integration of AR in technical education, fostering more interactive, efficient, and Industry 4.0-aligned learning environments.

Abstract

In the context of the global economy, the importance of international exposure for vocational students cannot be overstated. Indonesia, with its abundant educational resources and cultural richness, has yet to tap its potential as a leading destination for international students. This study examines the development and impact of a socialization program to increase Malaysian vocational students’ interest in mobility programs and further study in Indonesia. The participants in this study were university students. Data collection was conducted through an online survey using a pretest and posttest questionnaire instrument. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test to test the hypothesis that there is a significant positive change in student interest and the N-Gain value to determine the magnitude of the increase in interest. The results showed a moderate increase in interest, confirming the important role of prior knowledge and institutional image in the decision-making process. These findings suggest that Indonesian universities need to increase their global visibility through strategic marketing and international collaboration. The implications of this study provide important insights for policymakers, higher education institutions, and other stakeholders in increasing Indonesia’s attractiveness as an educational destination for international students, especially from Malaysia.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the application of asynchronous learning methods on the understanding of material in aerodynamics courses. Asynchronous methods provide flexibility of time and place for students to access learning materials, which include videos, digital modules, and online discussion forums. Data was collected through a questionnaire to measure students' understanding of concepts and satisfaction levels. Students reported high levels of satisfaction related to the flexibility and accessibility of learning. This study concludes that asynchronous methods can be an effective alternative for aerodynamics learning, especially in supporting independent learning and improving students' cognitive skills.
