Abstract

Dictoglos can be used as a strategy in writing, it is expected that student can improve their writing. The aim of this study was to analyze the use of “Dictoglos” to enlarge senior high school students’ ability in writing. This study was literature study research. The methods of collecting the primary data were documentation and observation. Meanwhile, journals, documentation books, and internet were taken for the secondary data. This study was analyzed using descriptive analysis method. Based on the data analyzed, it can be concluded that Dictoglos is an interesting and exciting strategy that can be applied in teaching writing. This strategy assists the students to reproduce and construct the component of the text. There are six steps in teaching a dictoglos; 1) Selecting a content-related to the text and read it aloud at a normal speaking. 2) Rereading the text twice more. 3) Having the students work in pairs to re-create as much of the text as possible using the note taken by each of the partners to write the text as closely as possible to the original text as read to the teacher. 4) Having two pairs to meet together and pool their re-create of the text to reconstruct it more completely. 5) Having the group of four works together to write down as much of the text as possible. 6) Asking one of each group to read the groups re-creation of the text and ask the other groups to see how closely it matches their version.

Abstract

Abstract: The Vocational Program is indeed a pre-educational program that aims to prepare students who can create competence and abilities in their industries, who are ready to work, and can compete globally. Differences in teaching Lecturers' perceptions still occur, resulting in the learning and teaching process being treated differently, as well as the influence of assessment standards on students with varying standards, particularly in the production of students' final projects. This study intends to determine lecturers' perceptions of teaching methods and vocational development in the language department, which will be useful in equating useful perceptions in output standards and assessments of students’ final project in Bengkalis Language Department- State Polytechnic of Bengkalis. Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the natural tourism objects and attractions and also the supporting facilities which are available in Deluk village to measure the feasibility level of the village to be developed into a tourism area. The methodology used for this research was a descriptive quantitative. The data needed for this research were collected through direct observation towards some natural tourism objects in the village and also through interview with related stakeholders. The data were then analyzed based on the guidelines given by General Directorate of Forest Reserve and Nature Conservation (PHKA) of 2003. After doing the research and analyzing the data, it can be concluded that Deluk village of Bantan Subdistrict of Bengkalis Regency has such proper potency so that it is ‘feasible’ to be developed into a tourism area. However, other factors such as the community readiness, the tourist opinion and the government support are still needed to be observed to get a more holistic recommendation.

Abstract

Vocational education provides practical education in order to develop students’ specific industry skills. Specifically for English study program, it deals with the industries of hospitality, translation, tourism, etc. To accomplish study in English study program in a vocational college, every student is demanded to make a final project related to a certain industry. Based on the database of English students’ final project proposal titles in academic year 2022/2023 at Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis, the topic related to tourism industry―making digital media to promote local tourism had been chosen most by the students. They had proposed to make a particular digital medium to promote tourism in a particular place. Considering this fact, within a descriptive qualitative method, this study aimed to describe the students’ preference for making digital media to promote local tourism, elucidate the digital media they would make, and elaborate their rationales behind planning to make the media. The research subjects were 9 fifth semester English students at Politeknik Negeri Bengkalis whose final project proposal titles were about making digital media to promote local tourism. The sources of data were the students’ final project proposals and interview. This study revealed that the students preferred making digital media to traditional media since digital media were considered more effective to promote local tourism. The digital media they would make were e-guidebook, tourism card, Instagram account, cinematic video, e-profile book, e-book, and website. They chose to make these media because these media would provide interesting display and content, and could be easily accessed by many people. All in all, people today, including students, have adapted to the changing world where things in every aspect of life have shifted to digital forms.

Abstract

Abstract: Mind mapping is a way to store and to take the ideas out of the brain then to present ideas visually to show the hierarchical relationship of ideas. The purpose of this research was to see the effect of making mind mapping as a writing activity towards students’ ability in writing hortatory exposition texts. This research was an experimental research. It was conducted at SMA 5 Padang. Population of this research was eleventh year students of SMA 5 Padang. The sample was taken by cluster sampling. 11 IPA1 was experimental class and 11 IPA2 was control class. The data indicates that the result of pre test and posttest from the two groups: experimental and control group is different. The different could be seen from the hypothesis testing. T-obtained was bigger than t-table. It meant that the difference of the meant scores of the experimental and control group is significant. In short, making mind mapping as a technique in writing hortatory text gives positive effect on students’ ability in writing hortatory exposition text. For further researcher, they can apply this technique to other skills and others kinds of text. Keywords: Mind Mapping, Hortatory Exposition Text, Writing

Abstract

Pesona Siak is a website for promoting Siak tourism to local tourist and to international tourist but it only display in one language- Indonesian Language. The purpose of this study is to translate the content of Siak Tourism Office website – Pesona Siak into English.This study used descriptive method and the translation usedsemantic translation method.There were several processes in translating such as collecting the contents, reading and understanding, terminology, analyzing, restructuring, translating, and revision.The result of this study is English translation of Siak tourism office website and post in a wordpress website. There were several steps to create the website such as download the application, installing process, creating account, making the home page, and then posting the translation result

Abstract

The aim of this study is to find out the Technology Integration and Student’s engagement on English LanguageLearning at Language Department State Polytechnic of Bengkalis. The Respondents of this research were Seven Lecturersand 30 students of Language Department State Polytechnic of Bengkalis. Observation and questionnaires were used asinstruments to figure out the integration of technology and students’ engagement at Language Department. The findingrevealed that integration of technology on English Language learning showed that the technology was adopted to supportteaching and learning process more effective and efficient. Every course such as Writing, Listening, Speaking, Reading,Grammar and Translation had different approaches in using device and platform. In addition, integration of technologycontributed positive engagement for students in cognitive, affective and behavioral aspects.

Abstract

Dalam upaya mengentaskan kemiskinan, pemerintah daerah Kabupaten Bengkalis menerapkan program desa wisata untuk meningkatkan ekonomi masyarakat, terutama di Desa Jangkang. Desa ini memiliki potensi wisata alam yang besar, namun masyarakat, khususnya generasi muda, masih minim dalam kemampuan berbahasa Inggris, yang penting untuk berinteraksi dengan wisatawan. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan pelatihan Bahasa Inggris Pariwisata sebagai solusi untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berkomunikasi peserta. Kegiatan ini meliputi analisis kebutuhan, penyusunan materi, dan pelaksanaan pelatihan dalam empat pertemuan yang interaktif. Pelaksanaan kegiatan dilaksanakan mulai bulan Agustus 2024 sampai awal oktober 2024. Peserta, yang terdiri dari pemuda dan perangkat desa, menunjukkan peningkatan kepercayaan diri dan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris. Pelatihan ini diharapkan dapat mendukung perkembangan pariwisata di Desa Jangkang dan memberikan dampak positif bagi ekonomi masyarakat secara berkelanjutan.
