Abstract

The rapid development of the digital era demands the revitalization of Pancasila education through the development of contextual learning models that align with the characteristics of today's generation. This study aims to identify students’ needs regarding the implementation of Case-Based Learning (CBL) in the Pancasila course at the Kalimantan Institute of Technology. This research employs a descriptive quantitative approach using a survey technique involving 305 students from various study programs. Data were collected through a closed-ended questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics in the form of frequency counts of student responses to illustrate the collective perceptions of the students. The results show that students prefer learning approaches that incorporate modern visual media such as videos and posters. The most preferred topics relate to current issues such as anti-corruption, gender-based violence, and radicalism, with the ideal duration for case study implementation being three to four weeks. The findings highlight the necessity of designing a CBL-based Pancasila learning model that is contextual, flexible, and interactive to enhance students’ active participation. Therefore, it is recommended that the development of the Pancasila curriculum at the Kalimantan Institute of Technology integrates digital media and contemporary issues to strengthen the effectiveness of the learning process.

Abstract

The ability of students to apply correct spelling and punctuation remains relatively low, which may negatively impact the quality of critical thinking in academic writing. Therefore, a diagnostic test instrument is needed not only to assess their skills but also to promote higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) in order to strengthen their understanding and application of language rules more deeply. The aim of this study is to develop a guideline for the construction of a diagnostic test on spelling and punctuation based on HOTS. The method used is a six-stage literature study, consisting of: (1) problem identification, (2) literature search, (3) literature selection, (4) literature organization, (5) synthesis and critical analysis, and (6) writing the literature review results. The results of this study include: (1) the development of a diagnostic test on spelling, (2) the development of a diagnostic test on punctuation, (3) scoring techniques, and (4) feedback mechanisms. The scientific contributions of this research are: (1) a systematic development of diagnostic test specifications for spelling and punctuation, with an emphasis on the cognitive levels of HOTS (C4-analysis, C5-evaluation, C6-creation), (2) the direct integration of the Indonesian Spelling Guidelines with HOTS indicators, making the test not only normative but also reflective and productive, and (3) the combination of multiple-choice and open-ended (C6) question formats in one diagnostic system — in accordance with the principles of multiformat assessment.

Abstract

As part of Indonesia’s capital relocation plan to East Kalimantan, Balikpapan plays a critical role as a supporting city, facing opportunities and challenges in infrastructure, economic stability, and public services. This study forecasts two key economic indicators: monthly inflation and annual Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), using Error, Trend, Seasonal (ETS) and Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA) methods. For monthly inflation, the SARIMA(0,1,1)(1,0,0)12 model outperforms ETS(A,N,N) with a lower RMSE, providing higher accuracy in capturing inflation dynamics. For annual GRDP, both ETS(A,N,N) and ARIMA(0,0,0) yield similar accuracy, with ARIMA slightly better. These findings support data-driven planning to maintain price stability and foster economic growth. Accurate projections ensure Balikpapan’s readiness as a sustainable, resilient city, aligning with SDG 8 (Economic Growth) and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
