Abstract

As a heavy polluted river in Yogyakarta, Gajah Wong River has been the target of Environment Agency (BLH) for its protection and water treatment program. Our preliminary research shows it had DO 0 mg/L, BOD 27, 86 mg/L, COD 79, 49 mg/L, Pb 0,03 mg/L and PO4 3,250 mg/L. The aim of this research was exploring the effectiveness of water treatment system using carbon nano tube based on coconut shells activated carbon integrated with wetland system. The Carbon nano tube was synthesized by using CVD methods while wetland system contains plants (which absorb pollutants. The result of this research are participated from Gajah Wong community and the water become more purify signed by BOD, DO, PO4 and COD normal value.

Abstract

This study aims to describe geometric objects that used by students on constructing fractal batik using Geogebra, procedure that used to construct fractal batik design, and students creativity on the process of constructing fractal batik. The qualitative descriptive research was applies including data collection, data separation, data analysis and conclusions. The research data were obtained from 97 students of tadris mathematics IAIN Kediri. The research results showed that fractal batik was constructed from a single geometric shape and combination of 2, 3, and 4 single geometric shapes through steps (a) made basic patterns using geometric shapes in Geogebra, (b) Made New Tools to perform repetitions (iteration), (c) Determined the type of transformation that used to repeat the basic patterns, and (d) Constructed geometric fractal batik. Based on the creativity indicators fluency, 3 types of geometric fractals can be obtained, namely (a) Fractals with Repetition and Enlargement (FPB), (b) Fractals with Repetition and Change Position (FPS), and (c) Fractals with Mix Repetition (FPC). Based on the flexibility indicator, there are 32 basic geometric shapes that develop basic patterns by applying 15 types of transformation consist of Single Transformation, Double Transformation, Triple Transformation and Quadruple Transformation. Meanwhile, on the originality indicator, P3 is the basic shape that has been mostly developed into geometric fractal batik which is a combination of equilateral triangles and squares.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze woven bamboo models in Yogyakarta based on Liki Design. Liki Design was sand painting design which was analyzed by Paul Gerdes. This study also described the integration of the results analysis in school mathematics. This research is a qualitative with an ethnomathematics approach. The woven bamboo model was analyzed based on the stages of data collection through interviews, documentation and collection of audiovisual materials, data separation, data analysis carried out by determining the main motif, coding the woven motifs into a matrix, analyzing using Liki Design, and conducting assessments between raters to prove the validity of the results. Based on the results by analyzed of 13 woven bamboo motifs obtained 6 corresponding matrix models. The integration of research results can be done in 2 ways, namely as context and content. As a context, the results of the analysis of woven motifs could be used to teach the context of matrix orders, number motifs, matrix operations, and geometric transformations. While integration in terms of content, research results can be used as content for mathematical exploration and technological literacy in the learning process.

Abstract

Learning modules are important for implementing learning in the current Indonesia National Curriculum. Some learning courses specifically teach students how to design good learning modules. This research aimed to explore the suitability of learning modules created by preservice mathematics teacher students and the factors that cause the inappropriateness of these learning modules. Qualitative phenomenology research was conducted on 49 preservice mathematics teacher students from the State Islamic University in Kediri who attended lectures on designing learning modules. To obtain data on the conformity of learning modules, documentation of the results of learning modules on 16 aspects of learning modules was used, while to triangulate the factors causing the non-conformity of learning modules, interviews were conducted with respondents. The research results show that 10 aspects are in the very good category, 4 in the good category, and 3 in the poor category. According to students, the factors that cause the inappropriateness of learning modules are mostly in the preparation of core activity designs, including the preparation of learning steps based on model syntax and learning strategies, preparation of curiosity questions, and planning time allocation for each step taken. Further research can be carried on testing the effectiveness of implementing learning using learning modules that are prepared and implementing effective strategies in developing the ability to prepare learning modules
