Abstract

Jamblang Chinatown, Cirebon was once known as a trading city during the Dutch colonial period, as a place for buying and selling and stopping by traders from various regions through the river that flows nearby. The river is a means of transportation that brings ships from the interior of Cirebon to the Java Sea, and vice versa. However, the current situation is reversed because Jamblang is like a "dead city" that is almost forgotten. The government and the community have a dream to revive the Jamblang Chinatown area. Through this PKM activity, a team of lecturers and students of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design at Maranatha Christian University seeks to revive Jamblang Chinatown by making murals with the surrounding community, as well as providing education as well as performances for the surrounding community through PKM activities. The attraction of making murals containing the historical value of Jamblang. The approach taken is a participatory collaborative workshop with local residents, through mentoring and education. The result achieved is a mural with the theme Mural History Jamblang, which is located on a 90-degree wall and is located in front of Vihara Dharma Rhakita, Jamblang, Cirebon Regency. They participate in the process of making murals. Other residents are interested in knowing the meaning contained in the visualization of the mural. And many are just selfies with a mural as a background. This mural-making attraction is also quite successful as one of the activities that attract public attention during the 2022 Jamblang Festival.

Abstract

Many functional old buildings and geological condition in Indonesia are prone to disasters, hence, the investigation is needed whether those buildings are still feasible to use. Periodic inspection is one of the methods to review the buildings by standard provisions. In this study, a survey was carried out based on Permen PU No. 16/RTM/2010 and Rapid Visual Screening (FEMA P-154). Both methods were used a special form that investigates the building visually. The purpose of the study was to investigate the existing building by reviewing the damage level of building components from the structural, architectural, mechanical, and electrical aspects, as well as to seismic hazards. Based on the Minister of Public Works Regulation Number 16/RTM/2010, the results show that there are several weathered wood columns and beams, cracked walls, and many piping and electrical that are no longer functioning. Based on Rapid Visual Screening (FEMA P-154), the final value of form level 2 is 0,2 which is similar with the SMin value, which indicating that the condition of the meeting building in Jamblang Village is categorized as prone to seismic hazards, therefore, the structure strengthening is required.

Abstract

All artificial lightings have effects on human daily activities. Psychologically, warm colour temperature gives relaxation feelings and cool colour temperature promotes alertness to most activities. This present study aims to describe the alteration of colour temperature from artificial lighting on manual students drawing productivity in drawing studio within a short period. A semi-experimental approach is conducted in two studios on a par for two days, involving 26 students of sixth semester to draw a set of interior details to finish in five hours each session on the same time. Each studio is installed with fluorescent tube lamps with different colour temperature for each session. The drawing elements comprehensiveness and the drawing quality are examined to assess lighting condition in the studios. Findings show that the alteration of colour temperature from 2700K to 6500K is significantly positive to productivity while mix of 4000K and 6500K to 4000K is not significant. The benefit of this study leads to reference to lighting design criteria for drawing studio in design institute to enable students to work in a prolonged time without eye overburden. Hence the design brings positive output. Keywords : artificial lighting; color temperature; drawing; manual drawing;productivity; qualification

Abstract

Nowadays, young people like Cafe more as a place for socializing than merely for eating. Its environment is made to comfort them through lighting design. This research aims to describe lighting distribution type from users choice of comfort while socializing in a café. The method is to ask 60 persons to choose the most comfortable lighting environment from five given illustrations based on a theory by ILO (1998) and Grondzik and Kwok (2010) theory. The result shows indirect lighting from wall and ceiling as the most preferred lighting distribution to support comfort while socializing.
