Abstract

The existence of the Covid-19 pandemic at the beginning of 2020 had an impact on normal human activities, including library activities that have been carried out so far. Activities to stop library services manually to avoid direct contact with users as an action to prevent and transmit Covid-19. The purpose of this service is to find out the concept of digital services that can be done and provide an analysis of the application of information communication for several online services. The research method used is community service activities, namely counseling, implementation and innovation services that are carried out online. The online skill library is a modern library that already uses an automated system in its operations and has a collection of library materials mostly in digital format that is stored in a computerized architecture and can be accessed via mobile phones. The result of this service is the need for online library services through the application of the online skill library concept with four main discussions, namely photoshop, kinemaster, mechanics and culinary. Several online skill libraries on the front pages of Facebook and Instagram provide information related to the latest information from tips on becoming a culinary entrepreneur from scratch, health literacy services in preventing transmission, and a database of research results related to Covid-19.

Abstract

This research is about teaching reading comprehension through a genre-based approach (GBA) at senior high school. The study aimed to increase students' reading comprehension in the eighth grade at SMP Negeri 1 Sibulue through the Genre-Based Approach (GBA). This research used Classroom Action Research (CAR) that consisted of two cycles. The research subject was the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 1 Sibulue academic year 2021/2022 that consisting of 25 students. The researcher obtained the data by using a reading test and observation sheet. The results of the students’ reading tests in cycle I and cycle II had significantly different scores. There was a better increase of gains by students at the end of the action of the second cycle. The results of the study showed that the score in the first cycle to the second cycle increased based on the value of the first cycle of 61.80 and the second cycle showed 75.80. It could be stated that the student's reading comprehension at the eighth grade of SMP Negeri 1 Sibulue was at a fairly good level after the test in the first cycle and increased to a good level after the test in the second cycle.

Abstract

This research was aimed at finding out the impact of the COVID-19 era on English students' communication skills at the University of Muhammadiyah Bone. This research was a descriptive qualitative design. The source data was from the students of the English education department. This research used a purposive sampling technique. The students were 20 and were taken from the English education department. The instruments of this research were interviews and questionnaires. The data from the students' interviews were transcribed and analyzed to answer the research question about the impact of the COVID-19 era on the English students' communication skills at the University of Muhammadiyah Bone. The results from the questionnaire showed that students mostly had a negative response to learning to speak during the COVID-19 period. The interview showed that the students' answers also gave negative responses toward the impact of the COVID-19 era on their English communication skills. It means that they want to learn to speak offline. They want to learn to speak with maximum support so that they do not feel bored easily or nervous about communicating. According to the data from both instruments, most students were not having fun, feeling confident, enjoying themselves, or being motivated to learn through online speaking. Furthermore, most want to learn to speak in a physical classroom rather than a virtual one.

Abstract

English is now a subject studied at primary school until university level. That is because English is essential to students. The main purpose of this study was to determine how pictures affected the students’ ability in English vocabulary. The study's subjects were the English students at Muhammadiyah University of Bone. Only fifteen students were used in the study. The research focused on pre-experimental design. The experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of the implementation of the picture on vocabulary learning. The researcher used a vocabulary test as the instrument.The outcome demonstrated that utilizing pictures to teach vocabulary can help students' vocabulary. Through the use of pictures, the students mastered vocabulary. The students' vocabulary t-test gives a result of 14,716, which is higher than the t-test value of 2.144. The significant difference in the student's test results between pre- and post-treatment periods (using the image).The analysis of the data revealed that the average score of the post-test (79) was higher than the mean score of the pretest (32).For the level of significance (a) = 0.05 and degree of freedom (df) = 14, then the value of t-table was 14,716, while the t-test value was greater than t-table (14,7162.144). It can be concluded that there was not enough evidence to reject the alternative hypothesis (Ha) in this research. Therefore, the pictures' implied meaning can encourage students to comprehend the text

Abstract

The objective of the research was to find out whether or not the use of Dictogloss technique can improve students’ listening ability. Besides, it was to find out the activeness learning of short conversation or narrative text is implemented in listening ability. The method of this research was Classroom Action Research by using Kurt Lewin’s model. The researcher used 2 cycles. Subject of the research in the third semester English Department of Muhammadiyah University of Bone. The instruments of the research were observing, questionnaire, and English test which was divided into three parts, they were diagnostis test, cycle test 1 and cycle test 2. This research revealed that there were 37,95% improvements of the student’ mean score from D-test to cycle test 1 in the first cycle and 61,22% improvements of the students’ mean score from the cycle test 1 in first cycle to the cycle test 2 in the second cycle. The observation result showed that the method could also increase the student team work through discussion in group, add their new vocabularies, increase their pronunciation and student’ involvement, it could be concluded that Dictogloss technique could improve the students ability in listening at the third semester English Department students of Muhammadiyah University of Bone and this Classroom Action Research was success because it had gained the target.

Abstract

Speaking is like the first assessment for each learner who is studying English and each learner has to speak. This statement means an obligation, duty, task, fact, implementation, process, and it can be learning, although we still find some students are speaking little or even passive in the classroom. One of the method that can raise the students motivate in learning speaking is Holistic method. This study aims to identify the students’ improvement in speaking ability using Holistic Method. This research following the principle working of Classroom Action Research (CAR) that contained of four stages (Planning, Implementation, Observation, and Reflection). a classroom action research was applied by implementing two cycles and each cycle was applied four meetings. To increase the speaking proficiency and fluency of the SMP Negeri 6 Watampone, VII-B class, a holistic approach was used. The research findings indicated a significant improvement of the students’ speaking ability after implementing two cycles. About the speaking accuracy, the students’ get 56.50% in the Diagnostic test, 64.10% in cycle I, and 75.30% in the cycle II. About the speaking fluency, the students get 57.00% in the Diagnostic test, 65.50% in the cycle I, and 75.80% in the cycle II. In the second cycle, the pupils' speaking accuracy improved by 35.32%. In the second cycle, there was a 33.03% improvement in the pupils' speaking fluency. Consequently, the investigator came to the conclusion that the pupils in VII-B class at SMP Negeri 6 Watampone's usage of a holistic approach had been successful in improving their speaking abilities.

Abstract

Masyarakat Desa Maddanreng Pulu Kecamatan Patimpeng memiliki permasalahan yaitu menumpuknya baju bekas, baju bekas sekitar satu karung perumah yang sudah tidak terpakaian dalam waktu 6-7 bulan, hingga saat ini permasalahan tersebut belum mampu diatasai dengan baik Pemanfaatan baju bekas menjadi taplak meja serut merupakan bentuk penyuluhan pleh tim pengabdian bagi masyarakat STKIP Muhammadiyah Bone yang dilakukan secara tatap muka (mengikuti protokol kesehatan). Adanya inovasi ini dapat menjadi solusi permasalahan mitra akan menumpuknya baju bekas dan dapat mengembangkan jiwa kewirausahaan masyarakat Desa Maddanreng Pulu Kecamatan Patimpeng. Kegiatan yang dilakukan berupa pengantar tentang tujuan diadakannya pengabdian pada masyarakat, pemaparan alat dan bahan serta tahap-tahap pembuatan taplak meja serut dari baju bekas bekas sobek. Sehingga masyarakat nantinya dapat mengimplementasikan secara mandiri sebagai hasil akhir dari penyuluhan ini..

Abstract

This study aimed to find out how the Use of Kinesics as Nonverbal Communication in the Classroom at the University of Muhammadiyah Bone. This research was a descriptive qualitative with 10 students as participants. They were taken by applying a purposive sampling technique. The research instruments are questionnaires and interviews. The result of this study shows that kinesics is an important element in non-verbal communication that can provide additional information and nuance to verbal messages. A deep understanding of body language can improve a person's ability to read and respond to communication more effectively.
