Abstract

The objective of the research was at measuring correlation between student’s mastery vocabulary and speaking skill of the eleventh grade at SMAN 6 Sidrap. Variables of the research were the student’s mastery vocabulary as independent variable (x) and speaking skill as dependent variable (y). In this study, the researcher used correlation design, where the researcher used this design to correlate two variables. The population of this research was all of the eleventh grade (XI2) students of IPA class at SMAN 6 Sidrap and the number of the subject was thirty-two students. In collecting the data, the researcher used some test was vocabulary test and interview. In this research, the researcher used cluster sampling technique to chosen classes. The researcher analyzed the data using Pearson Product Moment Correlation and Linear Regression with SPSS 21 program to test the hypothesis. The result of calculation using SPSS 21 program found that the rvalue 0.532 was also higher than rtable at 5% and 1% significant level or 0.349 < 0.532 > 0.449. It could be concluded that alternative hypothesis (H1) stating that there is a significant positive correlation between student’s mastery vocabulary and speaking skill of the eleventh grade at SMAN 6 Sidrap is accepted and null hypothesis (H0) stating there is no a significant positive correlation between student’s mastery vocabulary and speaking skill of eleventh grade at SMAN 6 Sidrap is rejected. The result of calculation of contribution between student’s mastery vocabulary (variable X) gave about 75.33% contribution to the speaking skill (variable Y) of the sample class and 25.66% was influenced by other aspects. Based on the research findings, in is shown that there is a very significant positive correlation between student’s mastery vocabulary and speaking skill of the eleventh grade at SMAN 6 Sidrap. It meant that the student who had lack of vocabulary

Abstract

The aim of this paper was to analyze the interpersonal communication skills of EFL lecturers in the context of a private university classroom. This research employed the qualitative research. data were analyzed descriptively through a three-stage model, namely data display, data reduction and Conclusions: Drawing/ verification. The data resources for the research chosen through purposive sampling were three lecturers taught at in Universitas  muslim Indonesia. The results of the research found. There were five interpersonal communication skills used by lecturers when teaching, namely: openness, supportive attitude, positivity, equality, and empathy.

Abstract

AbstrakBerdasarkan hasil observasi dilapangan penulis menemukan salah satu masalah yang dihadapi dalam proses belajar mengajar yaitu siswa menganggap bahwa pelajaran Bahasa Inggris sulit dipahami dan membosankan, sehingga kurang menarik minat untuk mempelajarinya, serta kebiasaan para guru yang selalu monoton dalam ruangan sehingga para siswa kurang aktif dan kurang komunikatif dalam proses pembelajaran bahasa inggris.Metode TPR (Total Physical Response) sebagai sebuah metode pengajaran bahasa yang dibangun di sekitar koordinasi ucapan dan tindakan telah dipilih sebagai metode pembelajaran yang bertujuan untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan pemahaman bahasa inggris siswa dalam mata pelajaran bahasa inggris khususnya materi imperative dalam prosedure teks. Penelitian ini merupakan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dilakukan sebagai proses pengkajian bersiklus yang terdiri dari 4 tahap yaitu Perencanaan, Tindakan, Pengamatan, serta Refleksi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, Hasil belajar Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas X 8 Watampone melalui pembelajaran metode pembelajaran TPR mengalami peningkatan. Hal ini terlihat dari nilai rata – rata 58,28 meningkat menjadi 78,15 dari skor ideal yang yang mungkin mencapai yaitu 100 dan berada pada kategori penelitian tinggi ( setelah dilaksanakannya Penelitian Tindakan Kelas pada siklus II ). Peningkatan kehadiran siswa juga meningkat dari 97,3% menjadi 99,34%. Persentase rata – rata jumlah siswa yang siswa yang bekerja sama 91,36% meningkat menjadi 98,64% siswa, persentase rata-rata siswa yang aktif 91,36% meningkat menjadi 98,02% siswa, persentase rata – rata siswa yang menggunakan  ketetapan kata  90,13% meningkat menjadi 994,73% siswa, persentase rata – rata siswa yang mengunakan ketetapan tata bahasa kalimat 82,89% meningkat menjadi 99,34% siswa, persentase rata – rata siswa yang memiliki ketetapan dalam menggunakan tindak tutur 90.13% meningkat menjadi 99,34%  siswa, siswa yang  memiliki ketetapan dalam merespon tindak tutur 90,13% meningkat menjadi 99,34% siswa.

Abstract

This research aimed to discover the language learning strategies used by successfull students in developing speaking performance in speaking performance at English Language Education Program in Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong. This research used qualitative method in the form of descriptive qualitative. the participants of this research were taken from the third semester of English Language Education Program in Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong with the total 6 students. The participants were the students who gained score A in speaking class. Based on the data gathered, the result showed that the students applied both of Direct and Imdirect learning strategies in developing their speaking English Language Education Program in Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong, namely social strategies, metacognitive strategies, affective strategies in Indirect Strategy and memory strategies, cognitive strategies, and compensation strategies in Direct Strategy. From those of six strategies applied, most of the students tended to apply Indirect Strategy that was social strategies by asking help, working in pair, practicing with the proficient user of English and making small group discussion.

Abstract

This research reports on the study of students' speaking ability through the use of the TikTok application. The problem of this research was the improvement of the students’ speaking accuracy and fluency through the use of the TikTok application at SMA Negeri 13 Bone. The purpose of the study was to determine students' ability to speak through the use of the TikTok application. The researcher used classroom action research (CAR), which was conducted in two cycles; each cycle consisted of four meetings. Thirty students in the eleventh grade at SMAN 13 Bone participated in this study The techniques for collecting data were observation and speaking tests. The research findings indicated that the application of the TikTok application was significant in improving the students’ speaking skills in terms of fluency and accuracy. It was proved by the mean score in the speaking ability for DT of 50.7, C1 of 65.79, and C2 of 77.69. So the improvement of the student's speaking ability from DT to C1 is 30.11%, DT to C2 is 52.96%, and CI to C2 is 18.08%. The researcher suggests that the use of media in language learning, particularly for speaking students, is absolutely essential. The TikTok media application is one that must be used. Students respond positively and enjoyably to the use of social media in the language learning process.

Abstract

Pemahaman konsep siswa menjadi salah satu topik yang penting untuk dikaji karena hasil utama dari pendidikan adalah belajar tentang konsep. Untuk memecahkan masalah, seorang siswa harus mengetahui aturan-aturan yang relevan dan aturan yang berdasarkan pada konsep yang diperoleh. Memahami konsep merupakan dasar bagi proses mental yang lebih tinggi guna merumuskan prinsip dan generalisasi. Pemahaman konsep merupakan salah satu kecakapan atau kemahiran yang diharapkan dapat tercapai dalam belajar yakni dengan menunjukkan pemahaman konsep lingkungan yang dipelajarinya, menjelaskan keterkaitan antar konsep dan mengaplikasikan konsep secara luwes, akurat, efisien, dan tepat dalam pemecahan masalah.Berbagai model pembelajaran telah diujicoba dalam hubungannya dengan pemahaman konsep siswa, dengan berbagai hasil yang berbeda pula. Salah satu model inovatif yakni pembelajaran metaverse yang efektif untuk proses pembentukan memori pada siswa. Teknologi metaverse diprediksi akan mampu meningkatkan asosiasi, elaborasi dan imajinasi dalam proses encoding Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh model pembelajaran inovatif metaverse tema lingkungan terhadap pemahaman konsep siswa. Ditinjau dari latar belakang, fenomena, kedalaman gap riset, kecukupan data, serta rancangan penelitian, maka penelitian ini layak untuk dilakukan. Penelitian skema Penelitian Dosen Pemula ini terkait dengan bidang fokus “Sosial Humaniora - Seni Budaya – Pendidikan”, khususnya pada tema “Teknologi pendidikan dan pembelajaran” yang tertuang dalam Renstra Penelitian Universitas Muhammadiyah Bone Tahun 2022-2026.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between extroversion and speaking proficiency among 27 pre-service English teachers at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sorong. Using a correlational research design, data were collected through the Revised-Short Form Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQR-S) and a speaking skills test using a rubric by O'Malley (1996). The data were analysed using SPSS version 27 and Pearson product-moment correlation techniques. The results reveal an insignificant negative correlation (r = -0.108, p > 0.05) between extroversion and speaking skills, indicating no substantial link between these variables. Most students displayed moderate extroversion, but their speaking scores predominantly fell into the "enough" and "poor" categories. Highly extroverted students could have consistently achieved better speaking proficiency. Personalized teaching strategies are recommended to address students' diverse needs. Extroverted learners benefit from group discussions and collaborative projects, while introverted students perform better in quieter settings, such as one-on-one discussions or recorded tasks. These tailored approaches can enhance confidence and improve speaking skills across personality types. Further research is needed to explore other factors influencing pre-service teachers’ speaking skills.

Abstract

This service aims to use shallot skins as a vegetable pesticide to control aphids and armyworms in Pekalobean Village, Anggeraja District, Enrekang Regency, South Sulawesi. The methods used include outreach and training in making vegetable pesticides to local communities. The process of making this pesticide uses natural ingredients such as shallot skins, lemongrass stems and soursop leaves which are easy to obtain and not harmful to the environment. The results of this activity show that the community can understand and practice making plant-based pesticides, so it is hoped that they can reduce dependence on chemical pesticides. This activity not only provides new knowledge but also contributes to reducing onion skin waste. In conclusion, the use of botanical pesticides made from shallot skins is an effective and environmentally friendly solution for sustainable agriculture

Abstract

Introducing English vocabulary to young learners is essential for building a strong language foundation, as it enhances their reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. However, research indicates that elementary students often face significant challenges in vocabulary acquisition, emphasizing the need for innovative teaching strategies that go beyond traditional methods. One effective approach for teaching English vocabulary to EFL (English as a Foreign Language) beginners is the Total Physical Response (TPR) method. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the TPR method in improving students' vocabulary skills. Using a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest framework, the research focused on fourth-grade students at SD Inpres 7/83 Pasempe. Data analysis, conducted through a paired sample t-test, revealed a significant increase in average scores from the pre-test to the post-test. The substantial improvement in scores highlights the effectiveness of the TPR method in helping young learners understand and retain new vocabulary. This approach leverages the intrinsic connection between physical activity and cognitive processes, making the learning experience more engaging and lasting

Abstract

Pembelajaran bahasa Inggris di tingkat sekolah dasar, khususnya di daerah pedesaan, masih menghadapi berbagai tantangan, seperti rendahnya minat siswa dan keterbatasan media pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan dasar bahasa Inggris siswa melalui penggunaan lagu alfabet sebagai media pembelajaran yang interaktif dan menyenangkan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan di SDN 01 Alasombo, Kabupaten Sukoharjo, dengan melibatkan guru kelas dan menerapkan metode berbasis musik untuk membantu siswa dalam mengenali huruf, melafalkan kata, serta meningkatkan daya ingat mereka terhadap kosakata bahasa Inggris. Hasil dari program ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan lagu alfabet dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa, menciptakan suasana belajar yang positif, serta memperbaiki kemampuan mengeja dan mengingat kata-kata dalam bahasa Inggris. Meskipun demikian, terdapat beberapa tantangan dalam pelaksanaan program ini, seperti variasi kemampuan siswa dan keterbatasan waktu pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan pengembangan lebih lanjut dalam bentuk peningkatan durasi program, pelatihan bagi guru, serta penyediaan media pembelajaran yang lebih variatif.
