Abstract

In the modern era, the leadership values and processes that must be passed by someone to become a leader has been changed. The evolution of mind and social life has changed the paradigm of modern humans in the view of the concept of leadership. To be a leader, a person must speak and train himself to have the character, abilities or qualities that should be owned by leaders. The Students who manage intra-school organizations (OSIS) are one of the forerunners of future leaders in the future and have an interest in driving change in their respective schools so that they become better. As a form of caring in building a leadership model that has integrity, Indonesia College of Economics conducts leadership training and coaching for OSIS administrators in SMA & SMK Negeri as well as the private sector in North Jakarta. The method used in this training consisted of lecture activities, question and answer sessions, discussion of case studies, by explaining the basic concepts of visionary leadership, participative leadership styles, change leadership and how to make decisions correctly. After this training, it is hoped that the student council officials will possess and demonstrate leadership motivation skills that are ready to challenge and can inspire students in their respective school environments.

Abstract

Community Service Activities in the form of assistance in the development of learning media aim to provide knowledge and skills in developing learning media that meet the requirements for certification for teachers. The ability to develop instructional media is expected to accelerate and facilitate the acquisition of in-service teacher certification. The target audience in this PPM activity is the 26 teacher of SMK 1 Watampone. Assistance in the development of instructional media is carried out by means of lectures, demonstration and exercises accompanied by question and answers. The Lecture method is used to explain the introductory concepts of professional teachers and teacher certification and the theory of instructional media. The demonstration method is used to show a work process, namely the stages of developing computer-based learning media, while the training method is to practice making media that meets the requirements of the teacher certification program. While the question and answer method is to give participants the opportunity to consult in overcoming obstacles in the development of learning media. The benefits that participants can get from activities include being able to compile and develop computer-based learning media according to the training subject being taught.

Abstract

The study of teaching style is needed to provide several contributions to teachers and prospective teachers in teaching. The purpose of this study was to find out the type of teaching style of lecturers conducted in English department. The subject of the research was English department at which consists of 16 students. The research use qualitative method. The instruments to collect the data were observation checklist and questionnaire. The result of the research showed that there are 10 item main types of teaching style which are, The expert type, formal authority, personal, facilitator type, the elementary, intermediate, creative / intractional, Democratic, Indifferent,classical teaching style with 23 sub items category and there are several new style of taching based on their perspective. Some of the lecturer were use more than one teaching style and it depends on the situation, material that they will present, and their personalities. However most of students fell bored when the leacture always give task by presentation and lecturing.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out of the use modeling method to improve the students’ public speaking skill in the era of covid-19 at the tenthgrade students of SMKN 2 Bone. In this research, the research erused the design of Classroom Action Research. The subject of the research were students at thetenth grade of SMKN 2 Bone. The number of students in the class was 26 students which consist of 8 maleand 18 female.In public speaking the rewere 10 aspectsof assessment consisting of state thepurpose, organizes the content, support side as,in corporates stories and examples, summarizes thema in idea(s), demonstrate sawareness oflistener’sneeds, speaks clearly with appropriate vocabulary and information, uses tone, speed, and volume as tools, demonstrates complexity of thoughtand vocabulary, and appears comfortabl ewith audience. The result of this research showed that using modeling method in teaching public speaking can improve students’ public speaking ability. Analysisof the data showed there was a improvement in public speaking from cycle 1 tocycle 2, where cycle 1 only got a score 50,1 and got an increase in score in cycle 2by81,7.

Abstract

Program KKN-PPM dalam bentuk pemberdayaan masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberi solusi sekaligus mengedukasi mitra dalam 1) meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat tentang eduwisata yang berpotensi pada pengembangan ekowisata (2) meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dan masyarakat dalam pengolahan pangan 3) meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam melakukan offset sederhana. Metode kegiatan KKN-PPM ini adalah metode persuasif dan edukatif dalam bentuk pelatihan dan pendampingan secara intensif ke Ibu PKK sampai menghasilkan produk olahan perikanan dan pertanian serta pelatihan pembuatan produk offset sederhana dan keterampilan berbahasa dalam memnadu wisatawan kepada Kelompok Sadar Wisata (POKDARWIS). Tahapannya terdiri dari 1) persiapan dan pembekalan mahasiswa KKN-PPM, 2) Penyuluhan dan pelatihan kepada mitra, 3) pendampingan dan evaluasi. Program ini dilaksanakan dalam bentuk penyuluhan ,pelatihan dan pendampingan hingga menghasilakan beberapa produk inovasi dengan tetap menonjolkan ciri khas Desa. Untuk Olahan Pangan terdiri dari Amplang Massifa (Mallari Aneka Rasa), Abon ikan Maraasa (Mallari Aneka Rasa) , Mr. Bolkit (Mallari Bolu Ungkit). Untuk Offset sederhana menghasilkan Sablon baju dan gelas karakter. Semua produk inovasi program KKN-PPM yang dihasilkan mampu menjadi produk khas dan dapat dijadikan oleh-oleh wisata serta dapat dimasukkan dalam Aplikasi Visit Malllari yang dapat diakses oleh semua pengguna android

Abstract

Authentic assessment has an important role in measuring students' higher order thinking skills in writing. However, designing an authentic assessment to measure higher order thinking skills in writing is a challenge. This abstract outline the steps needed to design an authentic assessment that is effective in measuring students' higher-order thinking skills in writing. The method used includes identifying learning objectives, determining assessment criteria, developing authentic writing assignments, and carrying out assessments that involve clear scoring rubrics. Current research and practice in this field is reviewed to provide a sound theoretical foundation. This abstract also discusses the benefits and challenges of using authentic assessment, including the development of assessments that are relevant to curriculum needs and competency-based learning. By paying attention to these aspects, a better understanding is gained on how to design effective authentic assessments to measure students' higher-order thinking skills in writing, thereby enabling the development of better learning strategies and improving student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to find out whether or not the use of Dictogloss technique can improve students’ listening ability. Besides, it was to find out the activeness learning of short conversation or narrative text is implemented in listening ability. The method of this research was Classroom Action Research by using Kurt Lewin’s model. The researcher used 2 cycles. Subject of the research in the third semester English Department of Muhammadiyah University of Bone. The instruments of the research were observing, questionnaire, and English test which was divided into three parts, they were diagnostis test, cycle test 1 and cycle test 2. This research revealed that there were 37,95% improvements of the student’ mean score from D-test to cycle test 1 in the first cycle and 61,22% improvements of the students’ mean score from the cycle test 1 in first cycle to the cycle test 2 in the second cycle. The observation result showed that the method could also increase the student team work through discussion in group, add their new vocabularies, increase their pronunciation and student’ involvement, it could be concluded that Dictogloss technique could improve the students ability in listening at the third semester English Department students of Muhammadiyah University of Bone and this Classroom Action Research was success because it had gained the target.

Abstract

Speaking is like the first assessment for each learner who is studying English and each learner has to speak. This statement means an obligation, duty, task, fact, implementation, process, and it can be learning, although we still find some students are speaking little or even passive in the classroom. One of the method that can raise the students motivate in learning speaking is Holistic method. This study aims to identify the students’ improvement in speaking ability using Holistic Method. This research following the principle working of Classroom Action Research (CAR) that contained of four stages (Planning, Implementation, Observation, and Reflection). a classroom action research was applied by implementing two cycles and each cycle was applied four meetings. To increase the speaking proficiency and fluency of the SMP Negeri 6 Watampone, VII-B class, a holistic approach was used. The research findings indicated a significant improvement of the students’ speaking ability after implementing two cycles. About the speaking accuracy, the students’ get 56.50% in the Diagnostic test, 64.10% in cycle I, and 75.30% in the cycle II. About the speaking fluency, the students get 57.00% in the Diagnostic test, 65.50% in the cycle I, and 75.80% in the cycle II. In the second cycle, the pupils' speaking accuracy improved by 35.32%. In the second cycle, there was a 33.03% improvement in the pupils' speaking fluency. Consequently, the investigator came to the conclusion that the pupils in VII-B class at SMP Negeri 6 Watampone's usage of a holistic approach had been successful in improving their speaking abilities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas pembelajaran Fonetik Alfabet khusus nya penggunaan International Phonetics Alphabet (IPA) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pelafalan Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas 4 SD 38 Janna-jannaya yang berjumlah 18 siswa, di Desa Bonto Majannang Kec. Sinoa, Kab. Bantaeng. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan desain studi kasus untuk mengamati interaksi siswa selama 6 kali pertemuan. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi langsung dan angket yang di isi oleh siswa untuk mengevaluasi tingkat antusiasme mereka selama pembelajaran Fonetik. Hasil dari angket yang diberikan menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar siswa memiliki tingkat kepuasan dan antusiasme selama pembelajaran Fonetik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pengajaran IPA membantu siswa mengenali dan melafalkan bunyi Bahasa Inggris. Perbedaan tingkat pemahaman siswa dan kesulitan dalam memahami fonetik adalah masalah yang diatasi melalui teknik interaktif. Studi ini menemukan bahwa pengaplikasian IPA dapat meningkatkan pelafalan siswa dan menciptakan fondasi Bahasa Inggris yang lebih kuat di tingkat dasar. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran Fonetik menggunakan pendekatan IPA memberikan dampak signifikan terhadap pelafalan Bahasa Inggris siswa.

Abstract

Indonesia, with a population of 278,696,200 as of July 4, 2023, is ranked as the fourth most populous country in the world. Lacking official school permits and high education fees, they often continue their education at guidance centers, such as the one in Subang Mewah, Selangor. One of the main problems faced is the low achievement of literacy among elementary school students, especially in memorization skills. The lack of emphasis on teaching vocabulary hinders the development of students' English language skills. This research aims to improve students' literacy skills in English by implementing environment-based vocabulary learning methods that are relevant to students, in order to improve their understanding of the English language. This study uses a qualitative approach with a vocabulary teaching method that connects words with everyday objects, such as household items and objects in the classroom. Data were collected through direct observation and interviews with students regarding their interests and engagement in learning. After the application of the method, students show increased enthusiasm in learning English vocabulary. They are more interested in mastering the basics of English and show a greater curiosity about the language. Learning vocabulary that connects to students' environments is effective in improving their literacy in speaking and listening. This method not only improves language skills but also arouses students' interest in English. This research can be a reference for educators and education policy in developing innovative literacy strategies, especially in the context of education abroad for Indonesian students studying abroad, such as in Malaysia. The application of context-based methods can improve the overall quality of English language learning.
