Abstract

Psalm 13 is a repetition which ends by moving to serenity as part of God's help. The method used is qualitative with a hermeneutic approach, especially poetry Genre. This study aims to explain a repetition of the psalmist as an emphasis on supplication to God which has an impact on theological values. This article finds the psalmist's complaint three times repeated; first, the expression of the psalmist's long-suffering despair, the second the psalmist sincerely hoped for deliverance from God which could soon be realized. Then there is a repetition of the salvation of God Himself, who saves from the world of death, illuminates the eyes (verse 3), and the third does good things (v. 5b).

Abstract

Genesis 2 deals a lot with a description of the time, reason, manner and outcome of Genesis regarding the creation of male and female relationships, especially the second part in Genesis 2:18-25. The scope of the discussion 2:18-22 is widely discussed using contemporary issues with the lens of social, psychology and anthropology. Likewise, the issues of biblical research on its use of canonical and non-canonical texts. By using the sub-hermeneutic qualitative method: Exegesis, the author finds that God's initiative for the purpose of His creation to humans can be observed through repetion parallelism (stair parallelism) in the scope of Genesis 2:18-22 (“God said…,” “God formed… ,” God created…” and “God created…”). This can be observed when initiative God created a woman by observing the word image and likeness of God, so as not to emphasize the superiority and inferiority between men and women.

Abstract

This article aims to analyze the pastoral service practices of Paul that are worthy of being imitated by the local church leaders today by focusing on the content of his farewell speech to the elders of the church in Ephesus based on Luke's record in Acts 20:17-38. The narrative hermeneutic method will analyze each statement related to his service actions. The results of the analysis show the pastoral service practices that are lived, taught, and need to be imitated by church leaders today in Indonesia. The study results show that the Apostle Paul presents the principles of pastoral service that are timeless and relevant to the context of local church service today. The fundamental principles he taught and the challenges pastoral leaders face today are: First, making the most of time. Pastoral leaders in the present era are challenged to maximize every opportunity in their service, especially amid many distractions and demands of the times. Second, he emphasizes the importance of humility in service. Today's leaders must be aware of the danger of arrogance and constantly realize their trustworthy source of strength. Third, Paul not only serves with enthusiasm but also with deep emotion. This challenges today's church leaders to engage emotionally, empathize with the congregation, and feel grief and joy with them. Fourth, he often faces threats and dangers in his service. Church leaders must be ready to face challenges, especially when voicing the truth of the Bible in an increasingly secular cultural context. Fifth, serving with teaching. He emphasizes the importance of correct and profound teaching. In the information age full of false teachings, pastoral leaders are challenged to continue to provide teaching based on the Bible and relevant to their congregation.

Abstract

Sermons are the primary means of conveying God's word in church life. However, sermons today often focus solely on theological information. Sermons should be transformative, bringing about real change in the mindset, attitudes, and behavior of listeners. This is so that today's younger generation can become doers of the Word, not just hearers. This study aims to examine how to build a transformative sermon structure based on the principle of 2 Timothy 3:16, which emphasizes four key functions of God’s Word: teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness. Using a kualitatf deskritif method, this research highlights that transformative preaching is urgently needed by young people who live amidst digitalization, moral relativism, and identity crises. Preaching that is rooted in the Word of God, delivered in a communicative language, and contextualized to the digital life of the younger generation will serve as an effective means of shaping faith and Christlike character. This study is expected to contribute theoretically to the field of homiletics and practically to churches and preachers in designing sermons that are relevant, applicable, and transformative for the young generation in the Society 5.0 era.

Abstract

This article explores the use of the paradigmatic figure Job in James 5:11, focusing on themes of solidarity and hope in the context of suffering. This study adopts a hermeneutic approach to understand how James describes Job as a model of solidarity and hope in the midst of suffering. Analysis of the text of James 5:11 was carried out to capture the linguistic and theological nuances underlying the choice of Job as a symbol of hope. This article also examines the historical and social context of the recipients of James' letter, highlighting how Job's message of perseverance was relevant to their situations. Furthermore, this research is also directed at the spiritual and psychological manifestation of solidarity and hope in Suffering, referring to the story of Job as a reflection of the universal human experience in facing difficulties. Through this, this study provides a deeper understanding of how the figure of Job is used paradigmatically in the Letter of James to inspire and give strength to the early Christian community in the face of suffering. The results show that James not only uses Job as an example of hope, but also as a means to build solidarity among believers in the face of trials. This article provides new insights into how biblical texts can be used to support solidarity and hope amidst adversity. Keywords: Paradigmatic, Job, Solidarity, Hope, Suffering
