Abstract

This study addresses the specific research problem of examining the preparedness of lecturers and students for the implementation of the Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) curriculum, focusing on critical insights and challenges. The research methodology involved surveys conducted among lecturers and students, aiming to gauge their awareness, engagement, and perceptions regarding MBKM activities. Students in the Management Study Program presented varying perspectives, with 45 out of 53 respondents actively preparing for MBKM. However, 5 students felt unprepared, and 3 expressed disinterest. Survey results regarding the impact of MBKM program implementation on the student learning process reveal positive outcomes. A substantial 37% reported good learning improvement, 43% very good, and 20% excellent. In terms of perception, 78% of students anticipated the program's positive contribution to broadening perspectives and enhancing competencies. However, 19% remained uncertain, and 3% claimed ignorance, suggesting a need for targeted communication strategies to address uncertainties. The study further delves into the barriers to MBKM program implementation in the Management study program. Curriculum adjustment emerged as a significant hurdle for 59% of respondents, with funding and partner exploration concerns at 32% and 52%, respectively. Additionally, 37% faced challenges adjusting academic information systems, while 13% each identified regulations and information gaps as obstacles. These findings underscore the multifaceted nature of challenges, emphasizing the necessity for comprehensive strategies to address curriculum, funding, partnerships, and information system adjustments for a successful MBKM program implementation.

Abstract

This article aims to examine the role and purpose of the philosophy of education while identifying the unique dynamics of its association with educational practice and pedagogical science. Within the realm of education, philosophy of education and pedagogy explore distinct facets of the same subject matter. Rather than acting as competitors, these disciplines, with diverse research functions, possess the potential for mutual complementarity and reciprocal enhancement of their cognitive capacities. The outcomes reveal that as a branch of applied philosophy, philosophy of education does not serve as a direct tool for influencing educational practice. Instead, its primary purpose lies in facilitating comprehension and understanding of crucial issues in the theory and practice of education. In this relationship, pedagogy acts as a mediator, playing a crucial role. In conclusion, the most productive form of the relationship between the philosophy of education and pedagogical science is one of interaction. This interaction fosters mutual enrichment, strengthens their research capabilities, and allows for the fullest realization of their distinct functions. Pedagogy, in particular, has the flexibility to choose from philosophical and educational concepts to develop theories, which are validated through experimentation and directly applied in practice. Philosophy of education, meanwhile, realizes its theoretical functions across all stages of educational activity.

Abstract

In a world where bilingualism is prevalent, people often naturally use code-mixing and code-switching as expressive tools in their language activities. This research aims to analyze the types of code-mixing and code-switching, the reasons for their use, and the matrix language in the interview between Maudy Ayunda and Robert on Perspektif Metro TV. The study employs a descriptive qualitative method, with data obtained from the conversation between Maudy Ayunda and Robert. Using a qualitative approach and non-invasive observation techniques, the data were analyzed based on Hoffman's theory of code-mixing and code-switching. The results indicate that the speakers employed three types of code-mixing (intra-sentential, intra-lexical, and changes in pronunciation) and two types of code-switching (inter-sentential and establishing continuity with the previous speaker). The motivations for using these codes included discussing specific topics, quoting someone, emphasizing points, repeating for clarification, and explaining content to the interlocutor. Code-mixing was used more frequently than code-switching. In conclusion, Indonesian served as the matrix language and English as the embedded language in the instances of code-mixing and code-switching observed. The findings have significant implications for the education field, particularly in multilingual and bilingual settings. Recognizing and integrating code-mixing and code-switching as legitimate and beneficial linguistic practices can enhance language learning by creating an inclusive environment where students feel comfortable using multiple languages. Educators can leverage these practices to improve engagement, comprehension, and expression in complex subjects, fostering a deeper understanding and better communication skills among students. Future research should investigate these phenomena across diverse contexts and larger samples to further validate and extend these findings, thereby enriching bilingual education strategies.

Abstract

This study explores the perceptions of students towards blended learning using YouTube as a teaching tool. Blended learning, which combines traditional face-to-face teaching with online methods, has emerged as a promising approach to address these challenges. Blended learning allows students to access course materials and engage in activities both in the classroom and through digital platforms like YouTube. This study, conducted at Ekasakti University with 54 students divided into three groups, employed questionnaires, interviews, and observations to gather comprehensive data. The findings indicate a generally positive perception among students towards the use of YouTube in blended learning. Students recognize the benefits of YouTube in enhancing language learning experiences, as evidenced by high mean scores for statements emphasizing its effectiveness. However, concerns were raised regarding certain aspects of using YouTube, reflected in consistently low mean scores for specific statements across all groups. Addressing these concerns is crucial for optimizing the effectiveness of blended learning with YouTube and ensuring its successful integration into educational practices. Overall, while students largely appreciate the benefits of blended learning with YouTube, addressing their concerns is essential to further enhance its effectiveness and promote student engagement and learning outcomes.
