Abstract

The average temperature of global warming on the earth's surface today has increased by 0.74 ± 0:18°C, the increase was due to the increase in the average temperature of the atmosphere, ocean and land earth. Emissions of the most influential on the quality of the air is carbon emissions, especially carbon dioxide (CO2). The CO2 contributes to global warming is 50%. The CO2 gases absorb and reflect radiation emitted waves of the earth, so that the heat will be stored on the surface of the earth. This study aimed to design a data logger system monitoring the level of concentration of CO2 using the oxygen sensor (OOM202), carbon dioxide sensor (MG81), as well as temperature and humidity sensors (DHT22) with microcontroller-based SMS gateway information. The study tested are simulated in the laboratory with electronic testing and testing communication systems. The test results showed good performance with the prototype, the results of monitoring CO2 emissions seen huge levels of carbon dioxide (ppm) is proportional to the output voltage (Vout) is generated. The greater the concentration levels of gas detected by the sensor, the output voltage generated will be greater, than that difference or distinction ADC output between the measured and calculated because of several errors, such as error output ADC ± 2 bits, error rounding conversion of ADC to volt. The measurement results are different, in the closed and open area refers to the measurement parameters are displayed on an alphanumeric display. Measuring system can transmit data via SMS information system with an average response time of less than 1 minute, it depends on the quality of the signal and traffic data from a provider by the user.

Abstract

Wabah Covid-19 yang telah melanda sangat perlu dipahami oleh penduduk di Indonesia, khususnya bagi warga di RT 37/ RW 13 Malangan, Kelurahan Giwangan, Kecamatan Umbulharjo, Kota Yogyakarta, DIY. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, dapat diketahui bahwa sebagian besar warga telah memahami gejala dan pencegahan Covid-19. Sebagian besar warga telah melakukan langkah-langkah pencegahan, namun tidak sedikit pula yang belum melakukannya. Oleh karena itu, tim melakukan kegiatan pengabdian dengan melakukan sosialisasi pengetahuan dan pecegahan, serta pemberian bantuan pencegahan. Kegiatan ini dilakukan selama seminggu di April 2020. Warga telah mendapatkan manfaat dari kegiatan ini mengingat mereka juga belum memiliki peralatan pencegahan penularan yang lengkap.

Abstract

This study aims to design an Anaerobic Up Flow Filter system processing tool. This tool is used to analyze the liquid waste of tofu industry which is used to determine differences in levels of BOD, COD, and SS before and after processing. This tool is also used to determine the effect of variations in processing debit and processing capability of the Anaerobic Up Flow Filter system on decreasing levels of BOD, COD, and SS according to applicable quality standards. The collection of tofu wastewater used the method for a moment in dry season. Verification of processing results is carried out at Environmental Engineering Laboratory of IST AKPRIND Yogyakarta. BOD levels after processing on all filter media were still above the quality standard threshold according to DIY Governor Decree No. 281 / KPTS / 1998. While the levels of COD and SS in activated charcoal filter media are still above the quality standard threshold according to DIY Governor Decree No. 281 / KPTS / 1998. The design of this tool produced a significant difference, namely the effect of discharge variation on Anaerobic Up Flow Filter processing are BOD 90.13%, COD 95.81% and SS 88.53%. The filtered sand and gravel media results result in meeting the quality standards, but for filter media the activated charcoal has not met quality standards.

Abstract

The south coast of Java area which is known as barrend land and has no economic value for agricultural land, this area has big potential for aquaculture like shrimp farm, and from 2001 pilot project shrimp farm expanded to two districts in Central Java namely Kebumen Districts and Purworejo Districts (Dwi, 2017). Based on data from Kebumen Regional Agency for Integrated Licensing Services Investment Board, in 2016 there were 300 shrimp farms scattered in several sub-districts and villages (http://www.kebumenekspres.com/2016/).As one of the activities in the coastal mainland, pond fishery management are often lack of attention about natural resources capabilities with preservation of ecosystems and environment (Yustiningsih, 1996, dalam Libriyanto, 2008). Feeding rate used in shrimp ponds generate organic waste that can pollute the aquatic system (Hongsheng et al, 2008 dalam Fahrur et al, 2016).According to the Decree of the Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries No: Kep. 28/MEN/2004 about general instruction shrimp cultivation in ponds, some parameters that require management BOD, NH3 dan PO4. The planned processing alternatives in this pre-designed consist of Sequencing Batch Reactor, anaerobic biofilter,basin of water collectors that functions as well chlorination tub and mud dryer tub. The test results of characteristics of shrimp pond wastewater parameters BOD5 : 152,87 mg/L, NH3 : 25,25 mg/L , PO4-3 : 1,0578 mg/L with processing capacity 325 m3/day requires land area 232,41 m2 and Calculation of the cost budget plan based on the price of the work unit (HSPK) Kebumen Region 2016 generate a total cost of Rp. 328.951.329,-

Abstract

The problem of environmental pollution still often occurs in urban areas. One of them is in RT 37 / RW 13 Malangan, Giwangan, Umbulharjo District, Yogyakarta City, DIY. The team chose this partner on the grounds that the partner needed treatment to reduce air pollution, because the location is close to Giwangan Terminal and South Ring Road which is full of transportation. In addition, the community needs an economic strategy for how to meet the daily needs of Covid-19. The solution offered is a vegetable planting program for residents so that they can independently meet their daily needs and become one of the greening steps to reduce air pollution. The methods of implementation carried out include planning activities, program socialization, training and provision of vegetable seedlings, to program evaluation. This activity went well, the partner community gave a positive response and got many benefits. The community has planted vegetables in their homes so that the environment becomes beautiful, comfortable, beautiful, and the community can meet the daily needs of the vegetables.

Abstract

Rambak crackers are familiar to us, because most people make rambak crackers as friends when eating a meal. This shows that rambak crackers have become a part of daily life. Dusun Bayanan, Gesikan, Gantiwarno, Klaten is a village where some of its residents produce rambak crackers. Marketing is done traditionally, some are sold directly in the market or through cooperatives. The Seroja Makmur Cooperative is a place for farmers to gather crackers and discuss how to grow their food industry. More than 10 rambak cracker business actors are incorporated in cooperatives, one of them is Sriwijaya cracker cracker maker. The manufacturing process carried out is still done manually with simple tools because of limited funding to develop the business. Problems faced by rambak cracker makers are very complex, ranging from equipment to marketing and business competition from other regions. But what they really complained about was the drying process of the cut crackers. the key to the long journey of rambak crackers, because if drying is not perfect the frying process will waste cooking oil and not expand. So that this product is not worth selling and just thrown away. An environmentally friendly dryer is a solution for the makers of rambak crackers. By maximizing the heat from the sun it is expected that drying is far more perfect and drying time can be accelerated, so the amount of production can increase. By not using wood fuel or oil, it is also expected to reduce air pollution and the greenhouse effect.

Abstract

Bahaya gas beracun ammonia merupakan bahaya terbesar dari aktivitas proses produksi yang menggunakan bahan kimia terutama pada industri kulit, maka untuk memantau kemungkinan munculnya gas beracun ammonia diperlukan suatu sistem telemetri pengukuran konsentrasi gas di sekitar daerah yang disinyalir berbahaya mengeluarkan gas beracun ammonia. Kelebihan dari sistem ini adalah data-data hasil pemantauan dapat diketahui kapanpun dan dimanapun melalui SMS, sehingga dapat memberikan peringatan dini adanya bahaya gas beracun bagi masyarakat di daerah tersebut. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk merancang bangun sistem peringatan dini gejala gas beracun ammonia pada industri kulit berbasis teknologi komunikasi GSM secara realtime, sehingga permasalahan-permasalahan yang ada di daerah berbahaya tersebut dapat teratasi. Pada prototipe ini terdapat tiga kondisi keadaan dalam mendeteksi adanya kadar gas ammonia di udara, yaitu SIAGA, WASPADA, dan AWAS dimana ketiga keadaan tersebut memiliki batas ambang bawah yang berbeda-beda, nilai ambang batas bawah masing-masing kondisi tersebut antara lain SIAGA=100ppm, WASPADA=150ppm, dan AWAS=200ppm. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian didapatkan alat bekerja dengan baik dengan waktu respon rata-rata SMS sekitar 5 detik tergantung kualitas sinyal dan trafic data dari suatu provider oleh pengguna, dan pembacaan tingkat kewaspadaan dapat dideteksi sesuai yang diharapkan. Abstract

The batik industry is one of the producers of pollution that can damage natural ecosystems. Batik industrial wastewater contains a lot of pollutants such as conductivity, BOD, COD, TSS, TDS, oil, pH. and temperature which are not suitable for the environment. In this study, the reduction of COD, BOD. and the concentration of red naphthol dye in the batik industry wastewater which was adsorbed with activated carbon of candlenut shell was studied. Batik wastewater is taken from Ngentakrejo Village, Kapanewon Lendah, Kulon Progo Regency. Candlenut shell activated carbon was obtained from pyrolysis, sieved with a pore size of 20 mesh, 40 mesh and 60 mesh and activated with NaCl solution whose concentration varied from 1.0; 1.5; 2.0; 2.5. and 3.0 M for 16 hours. Activated carbon was applied to adsorb red naphthol on batik wastewater by varying its weight at 10; 20; 30; 40. and 50 mg. The results showed that the effectiveness of candlenut shell- activated carbon to reduce red naphthol was 12.29%, BOD 25.49% and COD 26.67%. The adsorption process with activated carbon is not recommended as a sole treatment for batik industrial wastewater.
