Abstract

Biofoam, as an alternative packaging material based on tapioca starch, has become a choice for environmentally friendly packaging. However, biofoam has a drawback in terms of weak mechanical properties. The use of oil palm fiber, a by-product of CPO production, has gained interest as a material that can improve the mechanical properties of biofoam. This study aims to produce biofoam with the best mechanical characteristics as packaging material through variations in temperature and processing time. The production of biofoam was carried out using the thermopressing method on tray-shaped molds with variations in molding temperature of 180°C, 190°C, and 200°C for 180 seconds and 210 seconds. The dough formulation consisted of 80% starch, 20% fiber, with the addition of 25 grams of water. Mechanical property testing was conducted through tests for moisture content, water adsorption, biodegradability, compressive strength, and tensile strength. The variation of 190°C temperature and 210 seconds baking time resulted in biofoam with the best mechanical properties. This biofoam showed the highest compressive strength value of 26.94 kPa, tensile strength test of 83.11 kPa, the second-highest biodegradability with a percentage of 78.93%, and the second-lowest moisture content with a value of 7.56%. These results indicate that biofoam at a molding temperature of 190°C and a baking time of 210 seconds has the best mechanical properties, making it superior as an environmentally friendly alternative packaging material compared to other formulations. Keywords: Biofoam, Oil palm fiber, Temperature, Thermopressing.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis of research trends regarding filtration and liquid waste quality in hospitals from 2018 to 2024. Using the Google Scholar database and bibliometric analysis applications such as VOSviewer, this study identified and analyzed relevant publications with the keywords filtration, effluent, hospital, COD, BOD, and Liquid Waste Quality. The data obtained was processed with occurrence 4 and term 20 parameters to identify the main patterns and trends in the literature. The analysis results show that the number of publications has increased significantly from year to year, with peaks in 2021 and 2022. The distribution of publication types shows the dominance of research articles with 42 out of 50 publications, followed by literature reviews (3) and conference articles (4). Analysis based on country of publication revealed the dominance of Indonesia with 23 publications, followed by India and several other countries with smaller contributions. Cluster analysis based on network visualization identified four main clusters: (1) effluent quality parameters such as BOD and COD; (2) hospital effluent management; (3) effluent treatment and management; and (4) effluent quality characterization and assessment.The results of density visualization showed a high concentration of quality parameters and treatment technologies, while overlay visualization revealed a close relationship between quality parameters and effluent management. The conclusions of this study highlight the major focus on technical parameters of effluent quality and treatment technology, as well as the importance of integration between effluent management and quality evaluation in research. The findings offer valuable insights for further research and development of innovative solutions in effluent management in hospitals. Keywords: Bibliometrics, Filtration, Effluent Quality, Hospital, Network Analysis

Abstract

Palangka Raya, as the capital city of Central Kalimantan, has unique environmental characteristics because it often experiences forest and land fires (karhutla) which result in an increase in air pollutants. This study aims to analyze the association between exposure to Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) and Carbon Monoxide (CO) pollutants and the incidence of Acute Respiratory Tract Infection (ARI) in toddlers in Palangka Raya in 2024. This retrospective study was conducted in Palangka Raya City, with data on the incidence of ARI in toddlers obtained from the Palangka Raya City Health Office. Determination of NO2 and CO levels using the Google Earth Engine (GEE) platform that analyzes TROPOspheric Monitoring Instrument (TROPOMI) satellite data from the Sentinel-5 precursor. Geographic Information System (GIS) software was used to process spatial data and map layout. The relationship between CO and NO2 levels and ARI incidence was analyzed using linear regression tests, followed by multiple linear regression tests if there was a significant correlation. All statistical tests were conducted using a web-based platform. The conclusion of this study was that the linear regression test showed that NO2 levels only contributed 2.07% (p=0.6555) and CO contributed weakly (p=0.4981) to the incidence of ARI. This indicates that other factors are more dominant in causing ARI in Palangka Raya
