Abstract

Zakat is one of the duties that a Muslim must do. As a country with the largest Muslim population, Zakat potential in Indonesia reaches 327 T (trillion) every year. Seeing the enormous potential, this research will examine Zakat distribution through human development, unemployment, and poverty in Indonesia between 2011-2021. However, unfortunately, Indonesia's total collection of Zakat in 2021 only reached around 517,2 billion. With a total of 44 samples, the data were processed using Vector Auto-Regressive (VAR) with Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) estimation. In the short term, based on data processing results, Zakat's distribution does not affect human development, unemployment, and poverty. Nevertheless, in the long term, it is known that the distribution of Zakat affects human development, unemployment, and poverty. The results of this research are expected to be evaluation material for the government, Zakat management institutions, and Muslim society to pay more attention to the urgency of Zakat on human development, unemployment, and poverty.

Abstract

Indonesia as a country with the majority of Muslim population can take advantage of zakat instrument in order to solve macroeconomic problems like poverty case. The potential of zakat in Indonesia since 2017-2021 tends to increase. This condition is in line with an increase in the number of Muslim populations, however the realization of zakat receipt is not still comparable to the targeted potential. One of factors that cause the receipt of zakat is not optimal yet in Indonesia is macroeconomic factor that might affect public welfare which is related to economic stability of the country. Therefore, this research is aimed to identify short and long-term effects of economic growth, inflation, exchange rate, and money supply on receipt of zakat in Indonesia. The method in this research is quantitative method with VECM analysis. This research uses time series data with the period from 2017-2021. The variables in this research comprise of independent variables: economic growth, inflation, exchange rate, and money supply, while dependent variable is receipt of zakat. The research result refers that within short-term and long-term, the variables of economic growth and inflation affect negatively and significantly to zakat receipt. Meanwhile, the short-term exchange rate and money supply do not have significant effects to zakat receipt, while in the long-term; they have positive and significant effects.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The number of positive confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Indonesia in September 2021 has touched 4,204,116 people with the number of patients dying as many as 141,000 people or a death rate of 3.4 percent. The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia through the Covid-19 Handling Task Force has issued guidelines for the prevention and control of Covid-19 to reduce mortality and increase recovery rates. Based on these guidelines, people who are in self-isolation need to be provided with health care, social and psychosocial support, as well as basic needs including food, water and other basic needs. This study seeks to identify the influence of external factors which include support, as well as internal factors which include the motivation and knowledge of patients on the recovery rate of Covid-19 survivors in self-isolation. CFA can be used when knowledge of the composition or structure of a latent factor is known. The structure is obtained from theoretical studies, the results of research on the relationship between the variables studied and the latent variables. By using the CFA approach, it can be seen that the indicators that have the greatest influence on the latent variables of social support, knowledge and motivation for healing are known as loading factors. Primary data was collected online with 148 COVID-19 survivors across Indonesia in August 2021 as the sample. From the CFA analysis, it was found that the Social Support 1 (DS1) indicator, which is getting expressions of empathy, concern, and attention given by officers to Covid19 sufferers is the largest loading factor value, which is 0.745. This means that the influence of the DS1 indicator on the latent variable of Social Support is 0.745 or 74.5% is influenced by the DS1 indicator compared to the other 4 indicators, namely DS2, DS3, DS4, DS5. In the knowledge latent variable, the Knowledge 7 (P7) indicator, namely the purpose of Covid-19 treatment is to cure the patient, prevent transmission and death and reduce the transmission rate, which is the largest loading factor value, which is 0.767. Then on the latent variable of healing action, Healing Action Indicator 1 (TS1), namely being willing to undergo a treatment period with administration within a treatment time of approximately 14 days) is the largest loading factor value, which is 0.924.

Abstract

Abstract

This study examines the impact of sukuk on inflation in Indonesia, considering the interplay of macroeconomic factors during the post-COVID-19 recovery period. Employing a time series linear model (TSLM) with monthly data from January 2019 to March 2024, we investigate the relationship between sukuk outstanding and inflation (Consumer Price Index), controlling for industrial production, exchange rate, interest rate, and Composite Leading Indicator (CLI). Results reveal a significant positive relationship between sukuk and inflation, suggesting that increased sukuk outstanding is associated with higher inflation rates. This finding contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence of the inflationary impact of sukuk in Indonesia, especially in the context of post-pandemic recovery. The study also identifies significant positive relationships between inflation and interest rate, as well as inflation and CLI, highlighting their roles in driving inflation. While the exchange rate also exhibits a positive relationship with inflation, industrial production shows a negative association, suggesting a potential dampening effect on inflation. The model demonstrates strong explanatory power, with an adjusted R-squared of 0.9818, indicating that the included variables effectively capture the variation in inflation. These findings offer valuable insights for policymakers in formulating effective inflation management strategies and ensuring macroeconomic stability in Indonesia's post-pandemic recovery.
