Abstract

Background: Articulation ability greatly influences a child's speech clarity. Articulation involves speech organs such as the tongue, teeth, lips and palatal organs. The accuracy of the phonemes produced depends on the oral structure of the speech. One of the causes of errors in the formation of phonemes in a person is due to interference or damage to the articulator. This can be affected, among other things, by the habit of sucking a pacifier too often and for a long time. Objectives: This study aims to determine the effect of using pacifiers on the production of articulatory sounds in children aged 3 to 6 years at the Nirwana Integrated Preschool Kindergarten Banjarnegara. Methods: This type of quantitative research with a Cross- Sectional. Data collection techniques using Purposive Sampling with a sample of 25 respondents. The data that has been collected will be univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the Spearman Rank statistical test. Results: Based on the results of the Spearman Rank analysis test, the value of ρ (sig.) is 0.004 or value of ρ (sig.) ≤ 0.05, then Ha (alternative hypothesis) is accepted, indicating that there is an effect of using pacifiers on children's production of articulatory sounds. The correlation coefficient value is 0.557, which means that the level of correlation or relationship between the two variables is in the range of 0.4 to < 0.6, that is to say the medium category. Conclusion: There is an effect of using pacifiers on the production of articulatory sounds in children aged 3 to 6 years at the Nirwana Integrated Preschool Kindergarten Banjarnegara. Abstract

Preschool age children are closely related to language and speech development. Mastery of speech clarity and awareness of letter sounds is one aspect of children's readiness to master letters in each vocabulary. Phonological skills affect the achievement of children's phonological awareness, without good phonological skills and phonological awareness skills, children can experience problems in their reading skills. Learning about the structure of language sounds can build phonological awareness skills necessary for reading success during the preschool years. Children who have speech sound production problems in phonology rules, tend to have difficulties in phonology awareness and reading. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between phonological ability and phonological awareness in preschool children in Karanganyar. The method used in this study is a quantitative method with correlational research and cross sectional. The sample was taken from 41 respondents with phonological problems with purposive sampling. Data was collected using test instrument. The results of the analysis using the Spearman Rank correlation test obtained a (p) value of 0.004 (p <0.05) which means that there is a relationship between phonological ability and phonological awareness ability in preschool children aged 4-6 years in Karanganyar. The magnitude of the correlation is indicated by the correlation coefficient (r) value of 0.444, meaning that it has a moderate positive correlation. This relationship can be concluded that phonological ability affects the achievement of phonological awareness ability in reading readiness of preschool children.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of environment and family support on the social interaction abilities of children with ASD aged 6-12 years in Surakarta. This research employed a quantitative method with a correlational design. The study sample consisted of 30 children with ASD enrolled in Sekolah Luar Biasa Negeri (SLBN) Surakarta and the Center for Disability Services and Inclusive Education (PLDPI) Surakarta. Data collection was conducted using a validated and reliable questionnaire covering environmental factors, family support, and social interaction. Data analysis was performed using the Spearman Rank statistical test. The study results indicated that 63.3% of respondents had a good environment, 56.7% received good family support, and 66.7% had social interaction in the moderate category. Hypothesis testing showed a significant relationship between the environment and social interaction (? = 0.002, r = 0.536) as well as between family support and social interaction (? = 0.013, r = 0.446), with a moderate strength and positive correlation. The findings suggest that the better the environment and family support, the better the social interaction abilities of children with ASD. Therefore, increasing family awareness and optimizing a supportive environment are essential to fostering the social development of children with ASD. Interventions involving parents, educators, and speech therapists are necessary to help children with ASD enhance their social skills and adapt to their surroundings.
