Abstract

This Covid-19 pandemic era not only caused problems in the health sector but also in the economic sector. Indonesia's neighbouring country, has entered a recession. We have not yet entered a recession, but it seems unavoidable. One important thing that is expected to support national economic resilience from recession is entrepreneurs, especially the MSMEs entrepreneurs. This study will analyze the essential characteristics possessed by six alumni of the Business Administration Program, Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia, who are MSMEs entrepreneurs. The main concept used in this study is the entrepreneurial characteristics from Longenecker and Hornaday. The research method used is qualitative with descriptive data analysis techniques. Researchers used convenience technique sampling and used the first data source by interviewing informant and secondary data sources about informant business activity. The conclusion from this research is that the six informants have the entrepreneurial characteristics from Longenecker.

Abstract

Pandemi ini membawa dampak negatif yang sangat besar bagi sektor bisnis, terutama bagi usaha mikro, kecil dan menengah (UMKM). Kendati demikian, ekonomi kreatif masih memiliki potensi besar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat karakteristik entrepreneurial yang penting bagi keberlangsungan usaha di era pandemi di kalangan wirausahawan UMKM pelaku ekonomi kreatif di Jakarta. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan analisis data kuantitatif yang diperoleh melalui penyebaran kuesioner terhadap 75 orang responden. Analisis data kuantitatif yang digunakan adalah nilai rata-rata. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa aspek kepribadian (memiliki kepekaan, bertanggung jawab, jujur, dewasa) merupakan karakteristik entrepreneurial yang dominan dan dirasakan penting agar bisa mempertahankan bisnis di tengah pandemi COVID-19. Kata kunci    : Karakteristik, entrepreneurial, ekonomi, kreatif, pandemi

Abstract

Abstrak. Wirausaha, khususnya pemilik UMKM, dalam bidang industri apa pun sering kali menghadapi ketidakpastian dalam menjalankan bisnisnya. Tetapi di era Pandemi Covid-19 seperti sekarang ini, tingkat ketidakpastian sangat tinggi, dan bahkan terjadi disrupsi dalam berbagai bidang. Situasi yang sangat tidak pasti ini menuntut adanya kecerdasan dalam menghadapi masalah atau kesulitan, atau biasa disebut sebagai adversity quotient. Penelitian ini mengkaji adversity quotient yang dimililki oleh wirausaha UMKM khususnya untuk industri kreatif di DKI Jakarta. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif. Teknik penentuan informan dilakukan dengan teknik purposif dan convenient. Data yang didapat dianalisis dengan teknik analisis konten. Adapun hasil analisis penelitian ini adalah, informan yang diwawancarai memiliki adversity quotient yang tinggi, di mana mereka tetap berusaha mencari jalan keluar agar bisnis mereka tetap dapat berjalan. Walaupun seluruh informan mengakui mereka mendapat atau menghadapi masalah selama menjalani bisnis, mereka tetap merasa yakin dapat mengatasi masalahnya. Walaupun ada informan yang pernah berganti bisnis, tetapi informan tersebut tidak “kapok” menjadi wirausaha.

Abstract

During COVID-19 pandemic, almost all economic sector in Indonesia fell. Accommodation, food and beverage (culinary) sectors were the third largest industry after the manufacturing and construction industry, which laid off workers. There was one interesting point, in this pandemic storm MSMEs were affected quite badly compared to the economic crisis hit in late 90s. Another interesting point was that some of MSMEs suffered from profit decrease to loss and even bankruptcy. However, some MSMEs could survive. What makes them survive? Through researchers observation, we saw that culinary entrepreneurs as respondents consider some behaviors to be the key to their business survival during the pandemic. Based on theory these behaviors are considered as entrepreneurial characteristics. The research objective of this article is to test confirmation among respondents that entrepreneurial characteristic is the key to survival regarding the demographic and experience factors. This research used a descriptive quantitative method and Levane’s test for equality of variances. As the result respondents showed no differences based on their demographic and experience factors to see that entrepreneurial characteristics is the key of their survival during the pandemic.
