Abstract

The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has forced universities, as well as governments, businesses and other institutions, to rapidly increase their provision of digital services and in doing so accelerated a number of existing trends. Universities have had to rapidly evolve their digital strategies and the digital literacy and skills of their staff in order to respond to the current demands for online delivery and global digital connectivity. This study aims to find the factors that influence student acceptance of e-learning programs during a pandemic using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) approach. The study adopts quantitative research methods and data collected from 300 respondents using convenience sampling methodology. The questionnaire was distributed online to 14 universities in Indonesia. The structural equation model PLS (SEM-PLS) was utilized in this study. The results showed that two major problems rendered the online teaching and learning less effective than expected. One problem was arising from the institutional unpreparedness. Both lecturers and students were involved in struggling with this sudden move on global and untested scale. From the practical point of view, this study offers implications for government and universities to provide policies in the process of adopting e-learning regarding on students’ engagement and effective teaching method.

Abstract

The Waru Brilliant Thematic Village in Bojong Renged has been developed since 2021 in response to the limited natural resources in the Tangerang region and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. This program utilizes idle land for integrated agricultural and livestock activities, such as melon greenhouses, mushroom cultivation, chili gardens, and fish spawning. This service activity aims to map the available potential and identify the main challenges that hinder sustainability. Implementation methods include field observations, interviews with residents, and documentation of facilities. The results show that the physical potential is quite large but has not been supported by sustainable management. The main problems lie in low community participation, damage to facilities due to lack of ownership, and technical constraints related to weather and crop distribution. The findings emphasize the importance of collaboration and technology-based community empowerment strategies to support the sustainability of thematic villages.

Abstract

Catholic dioceses across the globe generally face a core governance contradiction: balancing administrative accountability and empathetic pastoral care. Sacrament management is not only a core pillar that maintains the Church’s organizational order, but also shapes believers’ perceptions of the Church’s pastoral mission. This study takes a Catholic diocese in Indonesia as its research subject, adopts an interpretivist qualitative case study method, and recruits interviewees covering clergy, catechists, parish council members, parents, and active parishioners. It collects data through a combination of semi-structured interviews and documentary analysis, to explore the diocese’s stakeholders’ perceptions of pastoral decisions related to sacrament management, as well as the organizational factors that can strengthen community trust. The study finds that stakeholders’ acceptance of pastoral decisions relies far more on five types of relational practices—including compassionate communication, participatory discernment, contextual administrative flexibility, relational accompaniment, and restorative community dialogue—than on administrative outcomes. These practices can foster institutional trust, and turn administrative processes into opportunities for organizational learning. This study originally proposes a people-centered pastoral governance framework with five core dimensions, restructures the governance attributes of sacrament management, and provides a transferable framework for cultivating leadership and community trust for all types of faith-based organizations.
