Abstract

Runoff of nutrients (N, P, Si) from the mainland would disrupt the balance of nutrients in the waters resulted in changing microalgae communities composition, especially between diatom and dino-flagellate (Dia/Dino). This study was aimed to analyze the relationship of nutrient ratios (N/P, N/Si, Si/P) in the waters, to the density ratio of the Dia/Dino in the coastal and marine waters of Spermonde archipelago, South Sulawesi, Indonesia, which experience nutrient enrichment. Nutrients and phyto-plankton samples were collected from the coastal waters of Tallo, Maros, Pangkep, and seawaters of Spermonde in three seasons (transition, wet, and dry). The results showed the average value (± stan-dard deviation) of Dia/Dino ratio in the coastal and sea waters is 1422±1742 and 1174±1290 in the transition season; 238±205 and 1039±2264 in the dry season; and 153±270 and 72±71in the rainy season. Meanwhile, in the marine waters the ratio of Dia/Dino ranges between 1 and 9839. The ratio of Dia/Dino was not different significantly (p>0,05) by spatial and temporal, but Dia/Dino ratio was different significantly (p<0,05) on the ratio of nutrients in coastal waters, where the value of N/Si ratio tends to ignite monospesies enrichment diatom (Chaetoceros) with a variant of 70,4%. Keywords: nutrient ratios, diatom, dinoflagellate, coastal, Spermonde

Abstract

Seeing many potentials for marine tourism and tourist visits which tend to fluctuate is certainly necessary to have a good performance effectiveness in promoting tourism. This study aimed to analyze the factors that influence the effectiveness of performance of GenPI of Bulukumba on tourism promotion. This study used a qualitative descriptive approach, tries to describe the existing problems based on data from observations, interview and documentation. The researcher presented the data analysis, the results of the interpretation coming to a conclusion. This study used purposive sampling, namely determining the sample based on certain considerations (key informants), namely three members of GenPI of Bulukumba and fourteen regular informants. The results showed that the Personal factors of GenPI of Bulukumba were considered effective because the management already had good expertise, motivation and commitment. The Leadership factor was considered not good because the direction and support only provided through social media would make emotional and familiarity of the board members not well established. The Team factors was effective because the management of GenPI of Bulukumba had good coordination and cooperation in activities which were proven when Bulukumba Regency received a MURI record. The System factors was already effective because even though GenPI of Bulukumba had many limited facilities and there was no decree, GenPI of Bulukumba made achievements. The Contextual/situational factors, internally was considered not good because of a regulation that required the management to upload the posts of GenPI of Bulukumba which were deemed to violate the management's prerogatives.

Abstract

Abstract

The waters in Youtefa Bay have degradation due to the transition from mangrove areas to industrial sites, housing, bridge construction and household waste disposal. Water degradation has indirectly affected the growth of plankton. Plankton consists of phytoplankton which is the primary producer of the food chain so that it is utilized by zooplankton as the first consumer. The aim of this study was to determine the abundance and diversity of phytoplankton and zooplankton. This research was conducted during June-August 2019, the method used purposive sampling. Samples were obtained from 6 observation stations. The results showed there is 28 species of phytoplankton (∑160,000 ind/L) and 15 species of Zooplankton (∑ 84,200 ind/L). The diversity index of Phytoplankton is ranging from 1-2.21; Dominance (D) 0.17-0.4 and similarity (E) 0.59-1, while for zooplankton diversity (H’) ranges from 0.97-1.39; Domination (D) 0.07-0.42 and similarity (E) 0.59-1. The Diversity Index shows that the waters of Youtefa Bay have moderate diversity. The similarity between genera is relatively same. The Dominance index value during the observation was seen <0.5 or close to 0, this means that in the community that there was no genus that was extremely dominating the other genera.

Abstract

Changes in nutrient concentrations can be caused by anthropogenic activities in coastal and marine waters. This affects the abundance of phytoplankton. The waters experiencing it are the waters of Kassikebo Pangkep, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. For this reason, research has been carried out to analyze the abundance and structure of phytoplankton communities in these waters, from January to July 2022. To identify phytoplankton, 100 L of seawater samples were filtered, which were taken at each station. The results of that water filter, identified in the laboratory. The results showed that the classes of phytoplankton found were Bacillariophyceae and Cyanophyceae. Species found such as Skeletonema and Detonula. The results of One-way ANOVA showed that phytoplankton abundance was not significantly different between observation stations (p>0.05). Changes in phytoplankton abundance are caused by pH.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the existing condition of the pond area that has the potential for aquaculture, estimate the business feasibility of aquaculture systems, build aquaculture models using dynamic analysis to see the most sustainable aquaculture system, develop dynamic models and simulate various scenarios for sustainable management. The applied aquaculture system was analysed with business feasibility by calculating total cost (TC), total revenue (TR), revenue, R/C and pay back period (PBP). Modelling of sustainable management of Vanname shrimp farming areas is done by formulating scenarios and simulation time and making dynamic models using Stella 9.0.1 software, all scenarios are simulated in a vulnerable time for the next 20 years. The results showed that the most effective cultivation system in 3 sub-districts is a semi-intensive system capable of returning investment or pay back period (PBP) which is about 1.4-1.6 years compared to the traditional system which is about 2.7-3.7 years. The simulation results show that the 3333 scenario in terms of cultivation technology is the best scenario or optimistic scenario to run so that the management of vanname shrimp farming in Mamuju Regency can be sustainable because in the next 20 years most of the cultivation technology will switch from traditional systems to semi-intensive systems. Keywords: Dynamic Model, Business Feasibility, Vanname Shrimp.
