Abstract

Wilayah pesisir dan pulau kecil (P2K) memiliki nilai strategis karena sekitar 60 persen penduduk Indonesia hidup di wilayah P2K. Selain itu hampir 95 persen kegiatan perikanan Indonesia terkonsentrasi pada Wilayah P2K dengan kontribusi sekitar 76 persen terhadap produksi perikanan nasional. Wilayah P2K beserta sumberdaya alamnya juga memiliki arti ekonomi yang penting bagi pembangunan, karena wilayah P2K merupakan kawasan yang secara hayati sangat produktif. Sekitar 85 persen dari biota laut kehidupannya bergantung pada ekosistem P2K, seperti hutan mangrove, padang lamun, terumbu karang dan estuaria (Tuwo dkk, 2005). Oleh sebab itu, wilayah P2K perlu mendapat perhatian yang sungguhsungguh dari semua pihak, khususnya para pimpinan.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: The present study aims to determine the effect of conwy fertilizer concentration on the growth of Gracilaria sp. cultivated on a laboratory scale. This research was conducted at the Multitrophic Laboratory of the Hasanuddin University Research Activity Center, Makassar. A completely randomized design was applied for 3 treatments: PC1 treatment (0.5 ml of conwy fertilizer); PC2 treatment (1 ml fertilizer conwy); and PC3 treatment (1.5 ml of conwy fertilizer) and 3 replicates for each treatment. The growth, performance, pigment and water quality were recorded. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed. The results obtained were PC 1 treatment was the treatment that had the highest growth with an average of 13.41%, followed by PC 2 treatment at 12.48% and the lowest treatment occurred in treatment to PC 3 with an average growth of 12.09%. ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi pupuk conwy terhadap pertumbuhan rumput laut Gracilaria sp. yang dibudidayakan dalam skala laboratorium. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Multitrofik Pusat Kegiatan Penelitian Universitas Hasanuddin Makassar. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimental RAL (Rangkaian Acak Lengkap) 3 perlakuan dan 3 kali pengulangan, antara lain perlakuan PC1 (0,5 ml pupuk conwy); perlakuan PC2 (1 ml pupuk conwy); dan perlakuan PC3 (1,5 ml pupuk conwy). Parameter uji yang diamati pada penelitian ini yaitu pertumbuhan, pigmen dan kualitas air. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis ragam (ANOVA). Data yang menunjukkan pengaruh yang nyata dilanjutkan dengan uji lanjut W-Tukey. Hasil yang diperoleh perlakuan PC 1 merupakan perlakuan yang memiliki pertumbuhan yang paling tinggi dengan rata-rata 13,41%, diikuti pada perlakuan PC 2 12.48% dan perlakuan yang terendah terjadi pada perlakuan ke PC 3 dengan pertumbuhan rata-rata 12.09%.

Abstract

The Spermonde Islands are part of the mega diversity area in the world's coral triangle area, crossed by the Wallace line. The Spermonde Archipelago consists of 120 islands spread over four zones: the inner zone, middle inner zone, middle outer zone, and outer zone. Samalona Island is located in an inner zone with a high level of eutrophication, and Langkai Island is located in an outer zone with a high brightness level. This study aims to determine whether there are differences in zooxanthellae density in various life forms and coral reef zones in the inner and outer zones of the Spermonde Islands. Coral sampling was done at coral reef ecosystems on Samalona Island and Langkai Island using SCUBA tools, cutting tools, and plastic samples. The zooxanthellae were separated from their hosts using a modified airbrush sprayer with an air pressure of 3000 psi. The zooxanthellae density was calculated using the formula of Eaton et al. Water qualities were measured in-situ using the water quality checker. The data were analyzed using factorial analysis with two factors. This study indicates that the zooxanthellae density in the folios life form is higher than in the encrusting and branching life forms. This study indicates that: (1) the zooxanthellae density in the same life form is not significantly different between the inner zone and outer zone; (2) the comparison of the zooxanthellae density in the same coral reef zone was not significantly different between the inner and outer zones; (3) the comparison of zooxanthellae density in the same coral reef zone was significantly different between life forms in the inner zone (Samalona Island); (4) the comparison of the zooxanthellae density in the same coral reef zone was significantly different between the life forms in the outer zone (Langkai Island).

Abstract

Orange-dotted tuskfis Choerodon anchorago is Labridae or Wrasse live in coral reefs ecosystem around the world. Wrasse is the second largest marine fish family, was found about 70 genera and about 504 species. Orange-dotted tuskfis is mostly caught by fishermen on the Wallace line on the Spermonde Islands. The Spermonde Islands consists of 60,000 ha of coral reefs. This study aims to assess the exploitation rate of Orange-dotted tuskfis in the Wallace line in the Spermonde Islands, Makassar Strait, Indonesia. Fish samples were collected from the catch in the Spermonde Islands landed at the Fish Landing Port, Makassar City in 2020. Age groups were analyzed by using Bhattacharya method. The growth rate was estimated by using Von Bertalanffy method. Total mortality (Z) was estimated by using the catch curve method. The natural mortality rate (M) was estimated by using Pauly empirical formula. The fishing mortality rate (F) was estimated by using equation . The exploitation rate (E) was estimated by using the Beverton and Holt equations, . The growth rate equation was . The total mortality rate of was 1.38, the natural mortality rate was 0.32, the fishing mortality rate was 1.06, and the exploitation rate was 0.77. Exploitation rates greater than 0.50 indicate that the Orange-dotted tuskfis C. anchorago in on the Wallace line on the Spermonde Islands is overexploited.
