Abstract

Illegal fishing that occurs in Indonesian waters has the potential to harm the marine fisheries business. The government seeks to overcome losses due to illegal fishing through  policies and surveillance programs through increasing the fleet of surveillance vessels, increasing operations by sea and air and utilizing information technology. Surveillance  of illegal fishing is a public policy, in  order to measure the impact and benefits of the policy, economic valuation is needed as a basis for stating that the policy is feasible and provides benefits presented in a value. This study aims to analyze the direct and indirect impact of illegal fishing Surveillance policies  on the marine fisheries business. The research method uses producer surplus and analysis uses Extended Cost Benefit Analysis (ECBA). The results showed that  the policy of increasing Surveillance provides  positive benefits of Rp.1.8 trillion/year compared to the situation before the policy, so the policy is feasible. The policy has the potential to save economic and social losses on the fisheries business obtained amounted to Rp.466.9 billion / year before the policy and after the policy increased Surveillance to Rp. 2.3 trillion / year. The policy of increasing supervision greatly affects the fisheries business at sea, namely the needs and supply of fish for raw materials for the fishery industry are met, increasing the productivity of catches, absorption of labor as fishermen on ships, sufficient fuel stocks and for the government, state revenues from PNBP and fisheries taxes increase.

Abstract

This article analyzes the speeches, works, and views of some Founding Fathers of Indonesia - Supomo, Muhammad Yamin, and Sukarno - as well as other key figures like Mohammad Hatta, K.H. Wahid Hasyim, Johannes Latuharhary, and Hoesein Djajadiningrat. It will explore their perspectives on the role of religion in Indonesia's political and social spheres. In Indonesia, where religion has significantly shaped the country's politics and society, politicians and elites largely agreed that religion is crucial to forming national identity. The main difference between nationalist and Islamist leaders was the extent of religion's influence on the new nation-state, not whether it had a role at all. Some argued for integrating faith into state affairs, while others favored separating the two. The enduring debate reflects the ongoing negotiation of competing visions of Indonesian nationhood, wherein religion is a significant axis of political and cultural expression. Moreover, the "religious state" concept encapsulates Indonesian leaders' nuanced approach to navigating the diverse religious landscape while maintaining a sense of national unity.

Abstract

Soft capitalism has begun to spread in Indonesia, marked by the number of Islamic businesses that are developing. This raises questions about the Islamic economic system and capitalism which seem to merge without any obstacles. In Yogyakarta, this phenomenon can be found in the Geprek Chicken and Milk (Preksu) and Waroeng Steak which is a popular economic movement in the culinary field. Specifically, from the business object, the author conducts indepth study at how the two paradigms that tend to be contradictory, capitalism and Islam, are able to go hand in hand in their manifestation based on the spiritual company. This study using the sociological approach and literature study and primary data based on field observation. The result shows that the fusion between Islamic values and capitalism produces a new phenomenon influenced by a strong moral economy from producers (entrepreneurs) and high consumer enthusiasm sustained by the role of new media. Therefore, the author argues that the growing moral value of human economies finally shatters egocentricity capitalist and Islamic is necessary as a measure of decorum (ethical) in the economy.

Abstract

Muhammad Salih Darat is a Javanese ulama who is known for his Pegon Islamic texts—texts on Islamic knowledge written in Arabic script but using Javanese language. He did that after he learned various branches of Islamic knowledge with a number of respected ulama both in Java and Mecca. The significance of his works lay not only on the fact that he delineates Islamic knowledge of theology (tawḥīd), Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh), Islamic mysticism (taṣawwuf) and exegesis of the Qur’an (tafsīr) in local Javanese language but also on his insistence and defense that such texts are as authoritative as Arabic ones. Salih argues that to be a good Muslim and to receive God’s mercy is not conditional on one’s ability to speak and understand Arabic but on one’s observance of religious obligations with sufficient knowledge that one acquires from authoritative Islamic texts in any language.DOI: 10.15408/sdi.v20i2.388

Abstract

This article, particularly the discussion on pesantrens, shows that only tariqa which supports fiqh is acceptable to and practiced by kiai and santri. This contradicts Trimingham's argument that Indonesians prefer heterodox mysticism. Comparing Muslims in Africa and Indonesia, Trimingham argues that Muslims in Indonesia place more emphasis on "thinking than upon acting" and therefore "speculative mysticism" is prevalent in this countryDOI: 10.15408/sdi.v13i2.568
