Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of learning outcomes of tenth-grade students on the topic of exponents through the implementation of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model. The PBL model is oriented toward solving contextual problems, enabling students to be more active, creative, and critical in discovering mathematical concepts.The research method used is classroom action research (CAR) following the Kemmis and McTaggart model, which was carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of the stages of planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of the study were 28 tenth-grade students at MA Islamiyah Syafiiyah. The instruments used were learning outcome tests (post-tests for each cycle), and the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) was set at 75. The action was considered successful if the percentage of classical mastery reached at least 75%. The results of the study showed a significant and consistent improvement in learning outcomes from the pre-cycle to Cycle II. In the Pre-Cycle, the class average score was only 48.93 with a very low classical mastery of 3.57% (only 1 student met the KKM of 75). After implementing the PBL model, the class average score in Cycle I increased to 64.82, with a classical mastery of 21.43% (6 students met the KKM). The most optimal improvement occurred in Cycle II, where the class average score rose to 75.18 and the classical mastery percentage successfully reached 75.18% (21 students met the KKM). This improvement indicates that PBL not only helps students understand the concept of exponents more deeply, but also enhances motivation and active engagement in the learning process. Thus, the implementation of the PBL model can improve students’ learning outcomes on exponent material and is worth applying as an effective alternative learning strategy

Abstract

This study aims to improve the mathematics learning outcomes of grade IX students of MTsN 1 Probolinggo on the material of cubes and cuboids through the application of the Snowball Throwing learning strategy. This study is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which is carried out in two cycles, including the planning stage, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 29 students with a Minimum Completion Criteria (KKM) of 75. Data collection techniques used learning outcome tests, observation, and documentation. The results of the study showed a significant increase in student learning outcomes. The average student score at the initial stage was 68.93 with a completeness of 58.62%. After the application of the Snowball Throwing strategy in cycle I, the average score increased to 89.48 with a completeness of 86.21%. In cycle II, the average score reached 95.52 with a classical completeness of 100%. These results indicate that the Snowball Throwing learning strategy is effective in improving students' mathematics learning outcomes on the material of cubes and cuboids.

Abstract

This Community Partnership Program (PKM) activity aims to develop and implement the Modified Snakes and Ladders learning media as an effort to improve students' concentration and understanding of the material on arithmetic operations with powers of numbers, especially after recess when learning focus tends to decrease. This game media is designed by adding question cards containing exercises on the application of exponent properties in each specific box. The implementation of the activity includes the preparation stage, socialization, teacher mentoring, implementation of the game with grade VIII students of Nurul Jadid Paiton Probolinggo Middle School, and evaluation of the media's effectiveness. The results of the activity show that the use of the Modified Snakes and Ladders can increase student activity, motivation, and concentration in learning. Based on the questionnaire, 87% of students stated that learning became more enjoyable, 82% found it easier to concentrate after recess, and teachers considered this media suitable for use in learning. In addition, there was an increase in students' average scores of 18–22% after using the media. Thus, the Modified Snakes and Ladders media is proven to be effective as an innovative learning strategy based on Game-Based Learning that can strengthen understanding of exponent concepts and encourage an interactive, collaborative, and enjoyable learning atmosphere

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas VIII SMP Islam Ar-Rofi'iyyah yang disebabkan oleh pembelajaran yang masih berpusat pada guru sehingga siswa kurang aktif dalam proses pembelajaran. Salah satu alternatif untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut adalah menerapkan model pembelajaran Think Pair Share (TPS) yang memberikan kesempatan kepada siswa untuk berpikir secara mandiri, berdiskusi dengan pasangan, dan berbagi hasil diskusi kepada seluruh kelas. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Think Pair Share terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas VIII SMP Islam Ar-Rofi'iyyah. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan jenis Quasi Experimental Design dan desain Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMP Islam Ar-Rofi'iyyah Tahun Ajaran 2025/2026. Sampel penelitian dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling, yaitu kelas VIII D sebagai kelas eksperimen yang berjumlah 20 siswa dan kelas VIII E sebagai kelas kontrol yang berjumlah 21 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan tes, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Instrumen penelitian telah dinyatakan valid oleh ahli dengan persentase validitas sebesar 78% dan reliabel dengan nilai Cronbach's Alpha sebesar 0,839. Analisis data meliputi uji normalitas menggunakan Shapiro-Wilk, uji linearitas, dan uji hipotesis menggunakan Independent Sample t-test dengan bantuan program SPSS versi 22. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata posttest kelas eksperimen sebesar 84,50, sedangkan kelas kontrol sebesar 71,10. Hasil uji normalitas menunjukkan seluruh data berdistribusi normal karena nilai signifikansi lebih besar dari 0,05. Hasil uji hipotesis menggunakan Independent Sample t-test memperoleh nilai Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,000 < 0,05, sehingga H₀ ditolak dan H₁ diterima. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Think Pair Share (TPS) berpengaruh signifikan terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa kelas VIII SMP Islam Ar-Rofi'iyyah. Penerapan model Think Pair Share mampu meningkatkan keaktifan siswa dalam pembelajaran serta memberikan hasil belajar yang lebih baik dibandingkan pembelajaran konvensional.
