Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan scientific process skills siswa melalui penerapan model experiential learning. Jenis Penelitian ini menggunakan desain pre-experimental design yang menggunakan satu kelas eksperimen. Rancangan yang digunakan adalah one group pretest and posttest design. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan tes. Berdasarkan scientific process skills diperoleh peningkatan yang signifikan dengan n-gain sebesari 0,82 dengan kriteria peningkatan tinggi. Hasil implementasi diperoleh simpulan bahwa pembelajaran dengan model experiential learning pada materi kalor di kelas VII G SMP Negeri 2 Gedangan Sidoarjo dapat meningkatkan scientific process skills siswa.   Kata Kunci: model experiential learning, scientific process skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan peningkatan keterampilan bertanya siswa dari hasil penerapan strategi pembelajaran konflik kognitif pada materi perubahan fisika dan perubahan kimia. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan satu kelas perlakuan. Teknik pengumpulan data yaitu metode observasi dan angket. Teknik analisis data menggunakan teknik deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil analisis penelitian meliputi: peningkatan keterampilan bertanya siswa. Hasil keterampilan bertanya siswa pada pertemuan pertama memiliki kriteria sedang dengan rata-rata persentase sebesar 54,58% sementara pada pertemuan kedua memiliki kriteria tinggi dengan rata-rata persentase sebesar 76,04%. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa strategi konflik kognitif sebagai scaffolding bertanya siswa SMP pada materi perubahan fisika dan kimia dapat meningkatkan keterampilan bertanya siswa.   Kata kunci : Strategi konflik kognitif, Scaffolding, Keterampilan bertanya.

Abstract

The research aims to identify the presentation of elements of basic science process skills and integrated science process skills in science textbooks for Class VII SMP on temperature and its changes. This study uses a qualitative description analysis. The object of research in this study was the Eksplorasi Ilmu Alam 1 book, IPA Terpadu Kelas VII book and Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Kurikulum 2013 book selected by judgment sampling. The instrument used to collect data in this study was to use an instrument of the elements of science process skills on the topic of temperature and its changes. The data collection technique used is literature study. Data analysis techniques in research using content analysis. The results showed that the elements of science process skills have been presented well even though there are elements that have not been fulfilled elements of defining operational variables. The element of SPS that appears the most is the element of observing which is the most basic skill in conducting an experiment. With this research, it is hoped that teachers will have many references in improving student KPS and not just referring to one book.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze and describe the challenges of teachers when learning by using a scientific approach. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative, making descriptions or descriptions related to the challenges of teachers in implementing science learning using a scientific approach. The instrument used in this study was the teacher's challenge instruments in the scientific approach, which contained the stages of the scientific approach and the challenges faced by the teacher. The data collection technique in this study used literature studies and used the subject matter of case studies in research that had been conducted by previous researchers to analyze the challenges or obstacles experienced by teachers when carrying out learning using a scientific approach. The data analysis technique used in this research is content analysis which begins with the process of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results obtained in this study are that it is found that there are still many challenges faced by teachers during learning activities. The most dominant challenge for science teachers in scientific learning includes 3 things, namely: the challenge of teachers in planning learning activities, class management, and managing time allocations. Therefore, it is hoped that the school, especially the principal, will provide special training for teachers in preparing lesson plans (RPP) and an explanation of the stages of the scientific approach. That way it can minimize the challenges faced by teachers in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the validity of the solar system animation learning media used in STAD learning. The subject of this research is the animation media that includes material for the junior high school solar system. The validity of the animation media is determined based on the validation results sheet which is assessed by experts. Analysis of the results of the validation was carried out using a quantitative descriptive method by giving an assessment by experts who were then known to score mode and media criteria. Animation media has several aspects to be assessed, namely general aspects, material aspects, audio-visual aspects, and technical aspects. The assessment from the experts shows that the validation sheet of the solar system animation media in STAD learning has a score of 4 which shows very valid criteria. This shows that the Solar System animation media is appropriate to be used in STAD learning at the junior high school level.

Abstract

The research that has been conducted aims to describe the validity of context-based inquiry learning tools in enhancing the ability of students to understand the concept of light The method used in this research is quantitative descriptive method. The research data was obtained from the results of validation conducted by two science lecturers and one junior high school science teacher. In the RPP containing 12 aspects of validity, a score 4 mode was obtained with valid criteria and in the LKS which contained aspects of content, language aspects, presentation aspects and suitability aspects. learning models get a score mode of 5 with very valid criteria. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the validity of the context-based inquiry learning tool is valid in improving students' ability to understand the concept of light.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the constraints of the achievement of learning Science Process Skills (SPS) in the Covid-19 pandemic. This research used case study method with the research subject 5 science teacher and 15 students from 3 junior high school in Watulimo. The research instrument consisted of a questionnaire of teachers and students, with data collection techniques used were interviews, observation and documentation. The results of the research show that there are constraints derived from internal factors and external factors of the students. In addition there are also constraints that come from the teacher. Some of these constraints affect the low SPS students. Solution for the application of science process skills can be maximally implemented including, 1) the teacher should develop instruments such special student worksheet for assessing science process skills; 2) teachers need to familiarize the application of science process skills in science learning. The results of this study are used as input or solutions for junior high school science teacher against any problems that arise in SPS learning when the learning is online so that students are able to achieve the learning outcomes to the fullest.

Abstract

High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) is a student’s thinking process at a higher cognitive level from various concepts and methods in the learning taxonomy. HOTS learning can improve student thinking skills at a higher level. Teachers have a very important role in making students skilled in solving problems so that they are required to be able to apply learning that can train students to think at higher levels (HOTS). This study aims to know high order thinking skills of Muhammdiyah Junior High School student in science learning. Participants in this study were 58 students from Muhammadiyah Junior High Schools in Jombang Regency. This study used a descriptive qualitative research with test of LOTS and HOTS. The results of the data show that students are able to work on HOTS questions only up to the analysis, namely C4. However, students are already good at working on C1, C2 and C4 questions with a percentage above 70%, it is high. Students have not been able to think at high levels at stages C5 and C6 because the teacher rarely teaches and asks questions at the application and development.

Abstract

This study aims to identified the science process skills implementations and the barriers during online learning at State Junior High School 1 Sidoarjo. This study used case studies at State Junior High School 1 Sidoarjo with the participants of this study were 3 science teachers and 15 students 7th grade. Data collection techniques used observation, documentation, and interviews then analyzed descriptively to got more detailed information about SPS’ implementations. The study’s instruments were teacher and student questionnaires. The results showed that some indicators of science process skills decreased from offline to online learning. The most significant decreased on formulating hypotheses, experimenting, identifying variables, and interpreting data. Only one of three teachers has capability to implement it. Meanwhile, SPS’ indicators that has been implemented optimally by all teachers were observing, measuring, inferring, and communicating. The barriers of the SPS’ implementations in online learning were time, student condition, and teachers SPS’ ability. The suggestion for the further research to giving a solution for science teachers to manage SPS’ activities and make some training to improve teachers SPS’ ability, from the SPS’ theory and the skills to integrate SPS activities on student worksheet.

Abstract

This research aims to find out and explore information related to the application of online learning strategies used by science teachers during the learning process in Covid-19 pandemic to foster student’s interest in learning science. This research method uses the case study method. The subjects in this study were 8 science teachers and 26 students from SMP Negeri 2 Mojokerto City and SMP Negeri 4 Mojokerto City. The selection of this school is based on the ranking of the best public junior high schools in Mojokerto City which refers to the results of the 2019 National Examination, namely SMPN 2 Mojokerto has an average of 70.40 with 284 participants and SMPN 4 Mojokerto has an average of 65.01 with 239 participants. Instruments in this research is a teacher and student questionnaire which is presented in the form of Google Forms and hard files. Data collection techniques in this study were unstructured interviews, observation, and documentation. The data analysis technique in this study is descriptive analysis by determining the percentage of respondents' answers. The results in this study are 63% of science teachers have implemented online learning strategies during the Covid-19 pandemic. The synchronous discussion method is a learning method that is often applied by science teachers when learning online. The conclusion of this research is that the students' interest and attention to the learning strategies and methods applied by the teacher are able to foster students' interest in learning science.
