Abstract

Abstract

Pakcoy leaves (Brassica rapa subsp. Chinensis) are one of the plants that can reduce cholesterol levels with their chemical content of flavonoids, saponins, and tannins. This activity aims to promote public health regarding the use of pakcoy leaves (Brassica rapa subsp. Chinensis) in helping to reduce cholesterol levels and provide information on how to obtain pakcoy leaf extract simply by the infudation method. This promotional activity was carried out in collaboration with students and teachers of SMAN. 09 Bengkulu City. This activity is carried out by means of counselling by providing material on how the use of pakcoy leaf plants can help reduce cholesterol levels with simple materials and methods, namely using the infudation method. The results of the implementation activities that we did on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, with students at SMA Negeri 9 Bengkulu City began to show the benefits of pakcoy leaf plants. From the initial counselling, students did not know the benefits of pakcoy leaves to help reduce cholesterol levels. Then, after counselling, students already knew the benefits of pakcoy leaves.

Abstract

Butterfly pea flower is a plant that has many pharmacological benefits, including antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and analgesic, antidiabetic, anticancer, antihistamine and immunomodulator. The results of phytochemical screening of telang flower leaves are contain secondary metabolites is flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, quinones, polyphenolates, triterpenoids and steroids. The presence of flavonoid compounds in butterfly pea flowers allows for antioxidant activity. The aim of this research to determine the antioxidant activity of ethanol extract butterfly pea flower leaves (Clitoria ternate L.) using DPPH method. Simplicia butterfly pea flower leaves (Clitoria ternate L.) were extracted using maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent. The extract obtained was antioxidant test using spectrophotometry UV-VIS with a wavelength of 517 nm. The data obtained for the antioxidant activity value and expressed as IC50 (inhibition concentration) value which shows the concentration of antioxidant compound that inhibit 50% of DPPH radical activity. The results of the research show that ethanol extract of butterfly pea flowers leaves (Clitoria ternate L.) has the ability to act as a very strong antioxidant with an IC50 value of 6,056 ppm.

Abstract

Antibiotics and infections are the most common problems faced by developing countries, including in Indonesia. Indonesia's awareness of the use of antibiotics rationally declines. Acute respiratory infections ranks first in terms of infant and under five mortality in developing and developing countries. This research was conducted to see the description of the use of antibiotics in patients with ISPA in Clinic Sint Carolus Bengkulu from January to December 2014. Data analysis was done by descriptive analysis with a retrospective method. The sample calculation was done by using the Slovin formula obtained by 100 samples. Of the 100 samples of this study, 57% of men and 43% of women, the age classification of acute respiratory infection was 0% of neonatal patients, 25% of infants, 32% of infants, 20% of children under five, and 23% of children, most antibiotics commonly used with ISPA is cefadroxil 60% amoxicillin 36% and erythromycin 3%, combination of TMP (trimethoprim) and SMZ (sulfamethoxazole) 1%. The type of ISPA that attacks is ISPA non pneumonia in the form of cough and cold based on medical record data at the Sint Carolus Clinic and the patient obtains the drug with a dose in safe range.
