Abstract

This research is motivated by the limited mathematics learning tools that are in accordance with the 2013 curriculum. The aim of this research is to produce learning tools in the form of a syllabus, lesson plans (RPP), and student activity sheets (LAS) using discovery learning models in the material of class VII quarters and triangles. SMP / MTs. The development model used in this study is the 4-D model which consists of four stages of development, namely defining, designing, developing, and distributing. Data collection using practical instruments. The learning tools that have been developed are validated by three expert validators. The findings of the study revealed that the results of the syllabus validation analysis were 3.79 or very valid categories, RPP were 3,87 or very valid categories and LAS were 3.82 or very valid categories. The results of this validation analysis indicate that the syllabus, lesson plans, and LAS are considered valid. Furthermore, the results of the practicality trial in the small group for LAS were 3.50 or very practical category. The conclusion of this study is that the mathematics learning tools developed using the discovery learning model in the material of Quadrilateral and Triangles of class VII SMP / MTs which include syllabus, lesson plans and LAS are valid and feasible to use.

Abstract

This study is a development research aimed at producing valid and practical worksheets (LKPD) on the topic of phase comparison D. The background of this research is students' low mathematical problem-solving abilities and the importance of worksheets that facilitate students' mathematical problem-solving abilities. The development model used is the 4-D development model (define, design, develop, and disseminate). The define phase consists of initial and final analysis, student analysis, task analysis, concept analysis, and learning objective specifications. The design phase involves designing the product: the LKPD, validation sheets, and student response questionnaires. The next phase, development, involves validation by three validators, with the average validation percentage of the LKPD being 85.91% in the "very valid" category. Subsequently, a small group trial was conducted with 6 junior high school students, resulting in an average percentage of 87.17% in the "very practical" category. A large group trial was conducted with 38 seventh-grade junior high school students, resulting in an average percentage of 81.91% in the "practical" category. The product was packaged and disseminated in the dissemination phase by providing the developed product to schools. In this study, worksheets based on the Problem-Based Learning model on comparison have met the criteria of validity and practicality.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a mathematics module based on Problem-Based Learning (PBL) for straight-line equation material, designed to enhance students' mathematical problem-solving skills at SMP Negeri 1 Pasir Penyu. The study employed a Research and Development approach, utilizing a 4-D development model that includes the stages of Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate. The subjects were eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Pasir Penyu. Data collection instruments included validation sheets to evaluate the module's validity and student response questionnaires to assess its practicality. The module was tested in two phases: a small group trial and a large group trial. Results from the small group trial indicated that the module achieved an average score of 3.66, categorizing it as highly practical. Similarly, the large group trial yielded an average score of 3.57, also placing the module in the very practical category.

Abstract

One of the goals of mathematics education in the Kurikulum Merdeka is to develop students' creative thinking skills in mathematics. However, current evidence shows that students' creative thinking skills remain low. This issue arises because students are not regularly exposed to contextual problems that require creativity, argumentation, and reasoning. Moreover, the use of Student Worksheets is still limited and does not adequately foster students' mathematical creative thinking skills. In response, this research aims to develop a Student Worksheet based on the Problem Posing and Solving Learning Model, commonly known as the Jucama model, focused on the Pythagorean theorem content to enhance the mathematical creative thinking skills of phase D students. The research follows a development approach using the 4D model, which includes the stages of define, design, develop, and disseminate. Data were collected using questionnaires, involving 15 ninth-grade students from SMP 22 Pekanbaru in a small group trial. The validity of the worksheet, as evaluated by experts, averaged 92.5%, categorizing it as very valid. The practicality of the worksheet was rated at 83.33%, also categorized as very practical. These results indicate that the worksheet developed using the Jucama model on the Pythagorean theorem content is both valid and practical for facilitating the creative thinking skills of phase D students.

Abstract

This study addresses the low mathematics achievement levels among students in class VIII.2 at SMP Negeri 35 Pekanbaru during the 2023/2024 academic year. The research aims to enhance the learning process and improve mathematics achievement by implementing the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. This study employs Classroom Action Research to identify problems and implement targeted actions to resolve them. The subjects comprised 19 male students and 20 female students with heterogeneous ability levels. The research instruments included the Flow of Learning Objectives, Teaching Modules with attached Student Worksheets, Diagnostic Assessments, Formative Assessments, and Summative Assessments. Observation sheets and learning outcome tests were used for data collection. The results indicate significant improvements in the learning process across cycles, as demonstrated by increased mathematics achievement. The number of students meeting the Learning Objective Achievement Criteria rose from 17 students (43.59%) in Cycle I to 25 students (64.10%) and further to 29 students (74.36%) in Cycle II. The study concludes that the application of the PBL model effectively improved both the learning process and mathematics achievement in class VIII.2 at SMP Negeri 35 Pekanbaru during the 2023/2024 academic year, particularly on the topic of the System of Linear Equations in Two Variables.

Abstract

There is no electronic worksheet that can help students to optimize their mathematical creative thinking skills in the Integral Integration technique of rational functions with the denominator is a linear factor being the background for this research. This research aims to produce an e-worksheet that can be used in integral calculus courses, especially material for Integral Integration techniques of rational functions with the denominators being linear factors, and can improve the ability to think creatively mathematically. The research was conducted using the ADDIE development model. The research subjects were 15 students of Mathematics Education at the University of Riau. Data collection instruments used questionnaires and tests with quantitative and qualitative descriptive analysis. From the calculation of the validation score, overall, the e-worksheet is valid and can be used by Mathematics Education students in Integral Calculus courses. Based on the results of the second student response questionnaire, the e-worksheet met the practical criteria with the achievement of e-worksheet 1 of 83.33% and e-worksheet 2 of 76.3%. From the results of the worksheet effectiveness test, there has been an increase in students' mathematical creative thinking ability after using e-worksheet from 2.73 to 7.6 and is in the medium category. Referring to the results of this study means that the developed e-worksheet is feasible to use and can improve students' mathematical creative thinking abilities.

Abstract

This study investigates the character, and value as a citizen and attitude of socio-scientific issues (SSI) among pre-service chemistry teacher’s in Riau, Indonesia. SSI learning was conducted in the classroom and designed to cultivate characteristics and attitude of SSI. The integration of SSI with the learning process involved instruction that inquiry analyzing based on environmental issues. A total seventy-six chemistry education majors participated in the study, including eleven male and sixty-five female students. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire that measured the participants’ characteristics, civic value, and attitude of SSIs. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 26 with, employing descriptive statistic and Mann-Whitney U analysis. The result revealed that male pre-service chemistry teacher group has a higher score in character, value as citizens, and attitude of SSI compared to their female counterparts. However, the analysis showed no statistically significant difference (p>.05) between male and female pre-service chemistry teacher in the sub-factors of character and SSI attitudes. Despite the lack of significant gender differences, the findings suggest that the integration of SSI in chemistry education can enhance moral thinking and decision-making abilities and positive attitude toward SSI. Teachers may consider both subject matter and instructional method when addressing these aspects in the classroom.
