Abstract

Background:  Efforts to reduce the prevalence of undernutrition can be done with the proper IYCF practices. IYCF promotion and counseling activities for caregivers can increase the success of IYCF implementation and reduce the prevalence of malnutrition.Objectives: The objective of this study is to determine the association between the level of education, knowledge, and behavior of Posyandu counselors on IYCF practice in the Parongpong District of West Bandung Regency.Materials and Methods: This research is a cross-sectional study with a consecutive sampling technique. Descriptive analysis was conducted to describe the characteristics of the respondents, and the multivariate test was used to determine the variables meets the model equation.Results: Multivariable analysis showed that the variables that were significantly related to the practice of IYCF counseling were the level of education, knowledge, and behavior which were controlled by the confounding variable for the period of being a counselor.Conclusion: The level of education, knowledge, and behavior of Posyandu counselors in IYCF counseling practice is an important factor that can support the improvement of children's nutritional status.

Abstract

Elementary school children are children aged 6-12 years and had eating habits depend on their social life at school. Feeding habit in children consisted of mother’s beliefs about feeding, child feeding practices, and children’s eating behavior. children who consumed unhealthy food, such as snacks, relatively experienced low energy or calorie, while children with high consumption of unhealthy food tended to have a significant effect on experiencing health problem. The purpose of this study is to describe the eating habits of elementary school students from carbohydrate and protein sources during the pandemic. This study is a correlational study using a cross-sectional design. The population in this study were elementary school students at Mutiara Elementary School, Garuda Village, Andir District with a total of 95 students as respondents. The data collection tool in this study used a questionnaire. Data were analyzed descriptively. Carbohydrate sources that are often consumed by students are rice (100%), noodles (56.8%) and bread (53.7%). Sources of animal protein that are often consumed are chicken meat (74.7%) and chicken eggs (94.7%). Meanwhile, the most consumed vegetable protein was tofu (81.1%) and tempeh (67.4%). The food consumed by school-age children is less diverse. It is important for schools to provide education about the provision of diverse foods.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the relationship between physical activity and stress levels on the eating behavior of elementary school-aged children amid the Covid-19 pandemic in Garuda Village, Bandung, West Java. A cross-sectional research design was used in this study. We recruited 173 elementary school children in Garuda Village, Bandung, West Java. Research data were collected by questionnaire. Study measures included a general information survey, anthropometric measurements, a Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), an International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), and Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). Univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses were used. The result showed children’s nutrition intake is associated with the education of fathers and mothers. Students with mild stress levels showed a good eating pattern (55.8%) and students with moderate stress levels had a poor diet (54.2%). There was a relationship between physical activity and the diet of elementary school students (p-value = 0.049) (p 0.05) and students with sedentary physical activity have an opportunity of 2.289 times to have an adequate diet. Gender, father’s education, mother’s education, father’s occupation, mother’s occupation, income, and perception of stress were not related to the student’s diet (p-value 0.05).

Abstract

Program Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) merupakan program inisiatif pemerintah yang diluncurkan pada tahun 2025 untuk mengatasi permasalahan gizi pada anak usia sekolah sekaligus mendukung pembangunan sumber daya manusia menuju visi Indonesia Emas 2045. Masalah gizi pada anak berpotensi memengaruhi tumbuh kembang fisik, perkembangan kognitif, serta capaian prestasi akademik siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis perbedaan status gizi dan prestasi akademik antara siswa penerima dan non-penerima program MBG. Studi ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan rancangan komparatif cross-sectional yang dilaksanakan pada Januari–Maret 2026 di SDN 136 Sukawarna sebagai sekolah intervensi dan SDN 088 Embong sebagai sekolah kontrol di Kota Bandung. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 74 siswa kelas IV dan V, terbagi menjadi 37 siswa kelompok penerima dan 37 siswa kelompok non-penerima program. Status gizi diukur melalui pengukuran antropometri berbasis IMT/U, sedangkan prestasi akademik diukur menggunakan kuesioner Academic Competence Evaluation Scales–Student Form (ACES-SF). Analisis data menggunakan uji Independent t-test dan Mann-Whitney dengan tingkat kepercayaan 95%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perbedaan status gizi (p=0,183) dan prestasi akademik (p=0,652) antara kedua kelompok tidak signifikan secara statistik (p>0,05), meskipun ditemukan perbedaan bermakna pada subdomain kemampuan berpikir kritis (p<0,05). Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa implementasi program MBG dalam konteks penelitian ini belum memberikan dampak yang terukur secara menyeluruh terhadap status gizi maupun prestasi akademik siswa.
