Abstract

Adolescents are prone to nutrition problem, such as the lack of nutrition, overweight, and obesity caused by sedentary behaviours. Adolescents’ activities are influenced by their surrounding environment, such as family, friends, and duration of gadget use. Nutrition Education is a method to help increasing the adolescent’s knowledge about the importance of increasing physical activity and the consequence of sedentary behaviours for adolescents. Knowing the most effective method was the purpose of the study. This study used a quasi-experimental method with control group pre-test post-test design. The study was carried on three groups of adolescents, namely the lecture group, website group, and control group, for two months on school days. The instrument used was ASAQ (Adolescents Sedentary Activity Questionnaire) analysed by one-way ANOVA. The subjects of this study were adolescents aged 15-16 years old. This study used purposive sampling to select the subjects. The results showed that Nutrition Education using the interpersonal lecture method could increase 23.7 points of adolescent knowledge compared to Nutrition Education using the website method (6.2 points). Nutrition Education could increase the adolescent’s knowledge but it did not have a significant effect on adolescent’s physical activity on school days. Some activities of the adolescents were quite high, especially the learning activities of the lecture group (471.7 ± 53.5) and the website group (471.7 ± 53.5). The sleep activity also increased significantly in the lecture group (p = 0.040), website group (p = 0.003), and control group (p = 0.015). Meanwhile, the screen time activity decreased significantly (p = 0.011) in the lecture group due to various factors. Further research related to the factors affecting the duration of adolescent’s screen time on school days needs to be conducted.

Abstract

Abstract

The lembang fault is active and can potentially trigger earthquakes in the West Bandung Regency area and its surroundings. The lembang fault has two segments, namely the western and eastern segments, with a movement of 3 mm/year. The Ngamprah Raya Special School (SLB) is a school for children with special needs located in the Lembang fault area in the western segment. This condition causes SLB Ngamprah Raya to be in an earthquake-prone area. One of those affected is highly vulnerable to earthquakes, namely children, even more vulnerable, namely children with special needs or inclusion. Children with special needs need education regarding the Lembang fault earthquake and earthquake disaster mitigation. Earthquake disaster mitigation learning based on fun games needs to be done for Children with Special Needs. The purpose of this study is to utilize fun game media for earthquake disaster mitigation education for children with special needs. The method used is participatory observation involving accompanying teachers and students. The sample used is accidental sampling. The study results show that the fun game of snakes and ladders based on disaster mitigation is effective and efficient for children with special needs with mental retardation. In its implementation, game time and participants must be considered and limited to achieve learning. Students get developmental achievements as expected by going through three cycles. Each cycle is carried out with an effective and efficient snake and ladders game adjustment scheme. Learners are more likely to be able to capture interactive material. Snakes and ladders fun game can be an alternative solution in developing earthquake disaster mitigation learning media for mental retardation. Keywords: Fun game, Disaster Mitigation, Children with Special Needs.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze the relationship between physical activity and stress levels on the eating behavior of elementary school-aged children amid the Covid-19 pandemic in Garuda Village, Bandung, West Java. A cross-sectional research design was used in this study. We recruited 173 elementary school children in Garuda Village, Bandung, West Java. Research data were collected by questionnaire. Study measures included a general information survey, anthropometric measurements, a Perceived Stress Scale (PSS), an International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), and Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). Univariate, bivariate, and multivariate analyses were used. The result showed children’s nutrition intake is associated with the education of fathers and mothers. Students with mild stress levels showed a good eating pattern (55.8%) and students with moderate stress levels had a poor diet (54.2%). There was a relationship between physical activity and the diet of elementary school students (p-value = 0.049) (p 0.05) and students with sedentary physical activity have an opportunity of 2.289 times to have an adequate diet. Gender, father’s education, mother’s education, father’s occupation, mother’s occupation, income, and perception of stress were not related to the student’s diet (p-value 0.05).

Abstract

Background: Teenagers' high consumption of packaged drinks can trigger obesity, so they need to be able to identify nutritional content through the nutritional labels on the packaging. The use of nutritional labels is a form of nutrition education that can help teenagers make food choices as an effort to prevent obesity. Objectives: Analyzing the correlation of practice in nutrition labelling with the nutritional status of junior high school students in Bandung. Methods: This study used a quantitative descriptive design with cross-sectional methods. In October 2024, we conducted this study at public and private junior high schools in Pasirkaliki District, Bandung City, involving 60 students. This study employed a purposive sampling technique for selecting participants. The variables analyzed in this study include the practice of using nutrition labels, frequency of consumption of packaged drinks, and nutritional status. The research data were analyzed using univariate tests and multivariate tests using path analysis to see the correlatio between variables. Results: The results of the study indicated that there was a moderate correlation between the frequency of consumption of packaged drinks and nutritional status (p=0,020; b=0,405), the practice of using nutritional labels with the frequency of consumption of packaged drinks (p=0,003; b=0,470), and the practice of using nutritional labels with  nutritional status (p=0,023; b=0,383). Meanwhile, there was a weak correlation between the practice of using nutritional labels with nutritional status through the frequency of consumption of packaged drinks as an intervening variable (p=0,048; b=0,190).Conclusion: The study's results stated that the practice of using nutritional labels correlated with nutritional status, with the frequency of consumption of packaged drinks as an intervening variable.
