Abstract

This research aims to examine the differences between animal food consumption in urban and rural areas in Indonesia using discriminant analysis. The data used are secondary data obtained from the National socio-economic Survey (Susenas) held Central Bureau of statistics of the year 2015. The data analyzed includes data on average consumption of protein (grams) per capita a day according to the dining area and group housing in 34 provinces in Indonesia. Animal food consumption are examined, namely fish consumption, the consumption of meat, eggs and milk consumption. Based on the results of the analysis it can be concluded that the normality test,  matrix test  of  the  variety  of  uniform  and   test  the   average   vector  value is fulfilled, so the discriminant function is obtained as follows: where is consumption of fish, is the consumption of meat, eggs and milk consumption was and is the value of the discriminant score. The result of the discriminant functions that form validation indicates that the function is accurate and stable. The precision of the discriminant function was 85.08% or there are 2 errors in classifying a group of villages and 8 errors in classifying a group of 67 regions of cities and villages throughout the province in Indonesia. Based on the magnitude of the coefficients of the function, that the consumption of eggs and milk that contributes the largest animal food consumption differences across cities and villages. Key words : animal food consumption, discriminant analysis, test validation, assumptions

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to map the level of animal food security in Indonesia using multidimensional scaling method. The data used are secondary data obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics, namely the average data of consumption of animal protein (gram / capita / days) and the average data of consumption of animal protein (rupiah / capita / month) in 2015 from all provinces in Indonesia. The result of the research shows that group I is food resistant in all animal food commodities, namely West Sumatra, Riau, South Sumatera, Bangka Belitung Islands, Riau Islands, Banten, West Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan and North Kalimantan. Group II is food resistant in fish, eggs and milk, less food in the meat of North Sumatra, Bengkulu, West Nusa Tenggara, North Sulawesi, West Papua and Papua. Group III is food-resistant in meat, eggs and milk, lack of food in fish such as DKI Jakarta, West Java, DI Yogyakarta, and Bali. Group IV is food-resistant in eggs and milk, less food in fish and meat such as Lampung, Central Java, and East Java. Group V is food-resistant in eggs and milk, food-susceptible to fish, and less food for less meat, namely Aceh, Central Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, Gorontalo and Maluku. Group VI status is susceptible to food in fish, less food in meat, eggs and milk of West Sulawesi and North Maluku. Group VII is under-food in all animal food commodities, namely East Nusa Tenggara. Stress value of 11.15% and R2 value of 95.01% indicate that multidimensional scaling method is suitable for use in this research. Keywords: animal protein, food security, multidimensional scaling method,

Abstract

Regression analysis is the most popular and commonly used to determine causality between two or more variables. In regression analysis there are several assumptions that must be held, so that the property of the best linear unbiased estimator (BLUE) is still guaranteed. In fact, we often found violations of the assumptions. One of them was violations of the homoscedasticity or occurs heteroscedasticity. The impact of heteroscedasticity in the regression model is that the ordinary least square (OLS) estimator no longer has a minimum variance although still linear and unbiased. To handle this, weighted least square (WLS) regression is used instead, which giving weights on the observations. But the problem often encountered is choosing which the best weight in WLS method. This paper aimed to compare and determine the best weight among 1/X, 1/ , 1/Y and 1/s in multiple regression model. Human development index factors data, which were obtained from the Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics, were used. The results showed that the best weight on human development index data was 1/s. The coefficient of determination was 98.7% indicating that the model was very good.
