Abstract

The high productivity of coffee in Indonesia resulted in abundant coffee husk. Unfortunately, the coffee husk has not been utilized optimally. This research aimed to determine the effect of variations and acid concentration. Two-stages acidic hydrolysis process using two kinds of different chemical reagents i.e sulfuric acid (H2SO4) and hydrochloric acid (HCl) with the variation of concentration such as 10 %, 20 %, and 30 % with temperature of 30 0C and 75 0C for five hours in water bath shaker with the rate agitation 120 rpm. The hydrolysates produced neutralized using NaOH 2N, so that the process of hydrolysis easily. The result showed that in acidic hydrolysis process of coffee husk the reactant HCl generates levels of reducing sugar higher than the reactant H2SO4. In addition, the best treatment was hydrolysis by using reagent HCl 30 % with the levels total sugar, reducing sugar and degree of polymerization are of 20.85 %, 17.28 %, and 1.21.

Abstract

Abstract

Waste is a daily problem for human life in the world, this is because waste production occurs every day. The increase in the amount of waste per day causes various diseases that will have a more dangerous health impact on both humans and the environment for the next generation. A clean and healthy school environment will support a good teaching and learning process. Muhammadiyah 3 Jember Senior High School is one of the schools that is always developing to become a model school in Jember Regency. However, based on the results of preliminary observations, organic waste management has not been implemented. Eco enzymes are natural multi-purpose liquids, which are fermented from sugar, fruit/vegetable residues, and water. Eco enzymes can be liquids that provide many benefits for households, agriculture, and animal husbandry. Basically, Eco enzymes accelerate biochemical reactions in nature to produce useful enzymes using fruit or vegetable waste. This enzyme from "waste" is one way of waste management that utilizes kitchen scraps for something very useful. The purpose of this community service activity is to introduce fermentation technology to Eco enzymes through increased participation in waste management. This activity was carried out in the form of direct socialization and training to 46 students. The resource person explained the material using the lecture and discussion method, then the participants directly practiced making Eco enzymes. Based on the results of observations of community service activities, students have not implemented organic waste management.

Abstract

The abundance of lemuru fishery products around Coastal Fisheries Port in Muncar has led to the growth of a processing industry cluster made from lemuru fish which produces canned fish (sardines, tuna), fish flour and oil as well as frozen fish around Muncar port. Factories or industries whose raw materials require a large amount of money to move materials that are easily damaged will tend to choose their industrial locations around sources of raw materials. This shows that Indonesian people are aware of the nutritional contribution of consuming fish. The amount of production and consumption of this fish is also influenced by the season and weather so that the supply of caught fish is uncertain but the demand for fish is always increasing. Apart from that, other risks are inaccurate knowledge of fish handling, the distribution of caught fish that takes too long affects the decrease in the quality of fresh caught fish and the selling price of caught fish. Flying fish at Muncar Fishery Port is very dependent on the fishing season, so the availability of supplies fluctuates. The purpose of this study was to identify the supply chain structure and supply chain risks for lemuru at Muncar Fishery Port, analyze the highest risk factors in the lemuru supply chain at Muncar Fishery Port at each tier of fishermen, collectors and traders and recommends supply chain risk mitigation for lemuru fish for each tier at the Muncar Fishery Port based on risk identification.

Abstract

Industrial developments and increasing consumer concern for the environment and the issue of environmentally sound industrial concepts have forced the industry to adjust the concept of green industries in every business, including in procurement, which is better known as green procurement. Supplier selection is an important decision-making problem to get suppliers who can increase the company's competitiveness. This research was conducted in Jember regency to evaluate and select cassava suppliers based on green procurement using the AHP method. The criteria used are 6 criteria, namely quality, technology capability, pollution control, environment management, green product, and green competence. Each criterion has sub-criteria between 3 or 4 sub-criteria. The number of sub criteria is used to determine the RI value. The RI value is used to calculate the CR value of each criterion. The results of data processing show that the highest CR value is in the technology capability criteria and the lowest CR value is in environment management. The highest hierarchical criterion value for environmental management criteria is 0.273, because the selection of cassava suppliers can be expected to pay attention to environmentally sound controls.
