Abstract

Background: Adolescence is a transitional period from childhood and adulthood, which begins with sexual maturity. During this period there is a rapid growth and development of physical, mental, emotional and social. Adolescents are a group that is vulnerable to nutritional problems. Methods: The design of this study used experimental research with pre-test and post-test designs. The sample was 34 class IX students who were selected by cluster random sampling. This research was analyzed by paired test. Nutrition education is given by lecture method using audio-visual (video) and power point slides. Results: there is an effect of nutrition education on nutritional knowledge in female adolescents with p = 0.000. Conclusion: There is an effect of nutrition education on nutritional knowledge in female adolescents.

Abstract

Introduction:Teenagers generally choose unhealthy foods such as foods that are high in sugar, salt and fat, besides that the prevalence of teenagers consuming vegetables and fruit is relatively low. Adolescents make more food choices for themselves than children. One's knowledge will affect attitudes in choosing healthy foods.Objective:This study aims to analyze nutritional knowledge about risky foods with adolescent attitudes in determining food choices. Method: The research design used with designcross sectional. The sampling technique in this study used a multistage random sampling technique. The sample size in this study was 160 respondents with a population of 1143 selected from 10 high school/equivalent schools. The sample size was calculated using the OpenEpi software. Data analysis using testChi-Square. Results:The results showed that nutritional knowledge on attitudes had pvalue 0.026 (

Abstract

Many adolescents tend to pick unhealthy diets with high amount of sugar, salt and fat, while the number of adolescents who consume vegetables and fruit is relatively low. As adolescents begin to pick their own diets by themselves, there are certain reasons behind each of their preferences in foods. This study was aimed to analyze the factors affecting the choices of healthy diet among adolescents in rural areas. This was quantitative research with analytical and observational research method with a cross sectional design. The data sampling method used in this study was a multistage random sampling method. This research was conducted to 160 respondents with a population of 1,143 from 10 different high schools. The sample size was calculated using the OpenEpi software. The data on factors or reasons behind the choice of healthy diet was taken using the Food Choice Questionnaire (FCQ), while the data on the choices of healthy foods was taken using a structured questionnaire, both of which had been tested for validity and reliability. The collected data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. The main reasons that can influence adolescents to pick healthy diets in rural area were for healthiness concerns, the natural contents of the foods, and body weight control (BW) (p=<0.005). It is recommended for adolescents to optimize their knowledge and skills in food selection, especially healthy food.

Abstract

Pendahuluan; Masalah gizi sering mendapatkan perhatian di sebagian negara berkembang terutama stunting pada balita. Stunting adalah kondisi gagal tumbuh pada anak balita yang disebabkan karena kurangnya gizi yang bersifat kronis sehingga tinggi badan kurang pada usianya. Intervensi gizi merupakan salah satu bukti keberhasilan kegiatan yang dapat meningkatkan status gizi. Tujuan; Penelitian ini untuk mengukur pengaruh intervensi program family nutrition education (famon-ed) sebagai pola asuh anak dalam upaya pencegahan stunting. Metode; Pendekatan penelitian ini menggunakan quasi experiment, yaitu pre-test and post-test dengan control group design. Kolompok pada penelitian ini terdiri dari kelompok intervensi dan kelompok kontrol. Pada kelompok intervensi diberikan perlakukan intervensi family nutrition education (famon-ed) dengan media leaflet dan pada kelompok kontrol hanya diberikan leaflet saja. Masing-masing kelompok dilakukan pemantauan sebanyak 12 kali dengan frekuensi pemantauan 7 hari sekali selama 3 bulan sebelum dilakukan post-test. Data dianalisis berdasarkan kelompok menggunakan uji parametrik dependent t-test atau non parametrik wilcoxon. Hasil; Ada perbedaan pengetahuan, sikap, dan praktik gizi sebelum dan sesudah diberikan pendidikan gizi pada kelompok intervensi, sedangkan pada kelompok kontrol juga ada perbedaan pengetahuan sebelum dan sesudah diberikan pendidikan gizi, tetapi tidak ada perbedaan pada sikap dan praktik gizi sebelum dan sesudah diberikan pendidikan gizi. Kesimpulan; Program family nutrition education (famon-ed) menggunakan media leaflet berpengaruh terhadap pola asuh anak. Sehingga program ini dapat menjadi salah satu upaya pencegahan stunting dalam pemberian makan.

Abstract

Background; Dysmenorrhea is a problem that occurs in women of reproductive age which has an impact on reducing women's productivity and quality of life, such as absence from school, activity restrictions, decreased academic performance, sleep disorders, mood disorders. Purpose; This research was to determine the relationship between hemoglobin levels and junk food with the incidence of dysmenorrhea in female girls. Methods: ; This research was conducted at STIKES Adila Bandar Lampung with 30 female respondents from the Undergraduate Nutrition Study Program. Data collection was carried out by checking hemoglobin levels, frequency of consumption of junk food and desminorrhea levels. Results: Based on the Pearson Correlation test, the research results show hemoglobin levels with a p value of 0.442 > 0.05 with a Pearson correlation value of -0.146 and the junk food variable with a p value of 0.012 < 0.05 with a Pearson correlation value of 0.451. Conclusion So it can be concluded that there is no clear linear relationship between hemoglobin levels and the incidence of dysmenorrhea, but there is a positive linear correlation between consumption of junk food and the incidence of dysmenorrhea.

Abstract

Background: bananas can be used as an alternative staple food because of their high carbohydrate content. Objective: This research aims to find a formulation for making brownies from banana flour and analyze its acceptability and nutritional content. Methods: This research uses a laboratory experimental method with diversified treatment of banana flour in brownies to produce this most preferred product using a hedonic test, then a proximate analysis test is carried out on each sample compared with the control. The method used was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method with three repetitions in testing the nutritional content. Results: there is an effect of nutrition education on nutritional knowledge in female adolescents with p = 0.000. Conclusion: There is a significant difference in treatments F1, F2, F3, and F4 with banana flour substitution. There were real differences in the treatment of F1, F2, F3, and F4 on water content, ash content, protein content, fat content, crude fiber content, and carbohydrate content in brownies with banana flour substituted. The potential for banana flour to become a functional food raw material is very high.

Abstract

Background: Stunting describes a chronic malnutrition status during growth and development since early life. Toddlerhood is a period that is very sensitive to the environment so that more attention is needed, especially nutritional adequacy. Methods: ; The type of research used is quantitative descriptive with a Cross Sectional Study approach. The sample in this study was some toddlers with a purposive sampling technique of 94 toddlers. Results: The results of the study showed that knowledge with a p value (0.008), attitude p (0.004) and action p (0.001) were variables related to stunting in toddlers and the results of the statistical analysis of the logistic regression test on three variables, knowledge was the most dominant variable with stunting in toddlers with an Exp value (B) = 0.248. Conclusion: Knowledge of parenting patterns is the most dominant variable with stunting in toddlers.

Abstract

Stunted is a growth disorder in children due to chronic malnutrition and repeated infections. Stunted is characterized by the child's length or height being below the standard identified through anthropometric measurements using the PB/U or TB/U index. One of fulfillment of toddler nutritional is MP ASI (Complementary Food for Breast Milk). MP ASI that rich in animal protein can provide sufficient nutrients for toddlers so that can avoid stunted problems. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the knowledge of toddlers’ mothers regarding MP ASI that rich in animal protein. This event was carried out at 2 Posyandu : Posyandu Induk Desa Pemanggilan and Posyandu Srimulyo I H on February 6 and 7, 2024. Target of this activity was mothers of toddlers at both Posyandu. The results showed an increase in knowledge before and after nutrition education that indicated by the results of Wilcoxon Test : p value of 0.025 (<0.05) on the first day and p value of 0.047 (<0.05) on the second day.

Abstract

The development of the era and technological advances can make it easier for humans to do everything, one example is the development of types of food in Indonesia which is growing rapidly, one of which is junk food or fast food. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of eating culture on Body Mass Index in adolescents. The type of research used is quantitative descriptive with a Cross Sectional Study approach, namely to determine the effect of dependent and independent variables observed in the same time period. This study was conducted in the Al-Fatah Natar Islamic Boarding School Area, South Lampung Regency, Lampung Province with a population of 30 students and a sampling technique of total sampling. The results of the statistical analysis of multiple logistic regression tests with results on the frequency of eating variables with a value of p (0.816)>α (0.05). While on the junk food consumption variable with a value of p (0.016)<α (0.05). The results of the statistical analysis show that only junk food consumption has an effect on Body Mass Index in adolescents. So it can be concluded that the culture of consuming junk food has an effect on Body Mass Index in adolescents. For the community to be able to more actively utilize the service facilities that have been prepared, so that through consultation with health workers can increase knowledge about good eating culture in adolescents.

Abstract

Working memory capacity is a crucial aspect of cognitive function that plays a significant role in supporting students' learning processes. Working memory functions as a temporary storage system that allows individuals to store and manipulate information quickly. In an educational context, optimal working memory capacity can improve students' ability to understand, process, and remember information presented during the teaching and learning process. Several factors known to influence working memory capacity include breakfast habits, nutritional status, body fat percentage, and hemoglobin (Hb) levels. These factors are closely related to students' daily nutritional intake and healthy lifestyle. This Community Service (PkM) activity, with the topic "Healthy Food and Lifestyle to Increase Working Memory Capacity," aimed to increase students' understanding and awareness of the importance of a healthy diet and an active lifestyle in supporting cognitive function, particularly working memory. This activity was held in July 2024 at MTs (Madrasah Tsanawiyah) Al Fatah, Natar District, Lampung Regency. The implementation method was interactive nutrition education, covering the importance of a nutritious breakfast, consuming a balanced diet, physical activity, and general health care. Based on the results of evaluations conducted before and after the activity, there was an increase in the average knowledge scores of female students, as well as a significant difference in their understanding of the concepts of healthy eating and a lifestyle that supports working memory function. These findings indicate that nutrition education interventions have significant potential to improve the quality of learning by enhancing students' cognitive aspects. This activity is expected to become a model that can be implemented sustainably in other school settings.
