Abstract

Islamic journalism operates within a framework that integrates ethical and religious principles, presenting distinct challenges in maintaining objectivity. The tension between upholding journalistic neutrality and adhering to Islamic ethical guidelines raises questions about bias, credibility, and professional standards in Islamic media practices. This study aims to analyze the complexities of objectivity in Islamic journalism by examining its theoretical foundations, ethical boundaries, and practical applications in contemporary media landscapes. Employing a qualitative approach, this research utilizes content analysis and in-depth interviews with journalists from various Islamic media outlets. The findings reveal that while Islamic journalism strives for truthfulness and fairness, it often navigates ideological influences and societal expectations that shape reporting styles. Additionally, structural limitations, editorial policies, and political factors further challenge the realization of absolute objectivity. This study concludes that while complete neutrality may be unattainable, Islamic journalism can enhance credibility by promoting balanced reporting, ethical transparency, and adherence to professional journalism standards. These insights contribute to the discourse on media ethics, highlighting the need for frameworks that align Islamic values with universal journalistic principles.

Abstract

Background. In the contemporary digital era, social media platforms have become a dominant force in shaping cultural identities across the globe. The rapid dissemination of information and interactive communication fostered by platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, and Facebook has significantly contributed to the formation of a shared global cultural identity. Purpose. This research explores the role of social media in influencing cultural perceptions, values, and behaviors among diverse communities. The primary objective of this study is to analyze how social media facilitates cultural exchange and contributes to the convergence of cultural norms, while also highlighting the tensions between global and local identities. Method. This study adopts a qualitative approach using content analysis and semi-structured interviews involving 30 active social media users from different cultural backgrounds. Data were analyzed thematically to identify recurring patterns and narratives regarding cultural identity construction. Results. The findings reveal that social media functions both as a platform for cultural homogenization and as a space for cultural hybridity. While global trends and popular content promote a sense of shared identity, users also reinterpret and adapt these influences to fit their local cultures, resulting in the emergence of hybrid cultural expressions. Moreover, the study indicates that social media plays a crucial role in youth identity formation and in promoting cross-cultural understanding. Conclusion. In conclusion, social media acts as a double-edged sword—supporting the development of a global cultural identity while preserving unique cultural elements. Future studies are recommended to further explore this dynamic in different regional contexts.

Abstract

Islamic inheritance laws, derived from Shariah principles, play a critical role in shaping wealth distribution and economic behavior in Muslim-majority countries like Indonesia. However, the implementation of these laws often faces challenges due to the coexistence of customary (adat) laws and national legal frameworks, leading to disputes and inefficiencies in wealth management. This study examines the legal and financial implications of Islamic inheritance laws in Indonesia, focusing on their impact on wealth distribution, family welfare, and economic development. The research aims to identify gaps in the current legal framework and propose recommendations for harmonizing Islamic inheritance laws with national regulations to enhance their economic effectiveness. Using a mixed-methods approach, this study analyzes legal documents, court rulings, and financial data, complemented by interviews with legal experts, religious scholars, and families affected by inheritance disputes. The findings reveal that while Islamic inheritance laws promote equitable wealth distribution, their implementation is often hindered by legal ambiguities, lack of public awareness, and resistance from customary law practitioners. These challenges result in prolonged disputes, unequal asset distribution, and reduced economic productivity. The study concludes that harmonizing Islamic inheritance laws with national legal frameworks and enhancing public education on inheritance rights are essential for maximizing their economic benefits. This research contributes to the discourse on Islamic law and economics by providing insights into the interplay between legal systems, wealth distribution, and economic development in Indonesia.

Abstract

Background. Service learning has gained recognition as a valuable pedagogical approach in higher education, aiming to bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world practice. In the context of educational institutions, the role of leadership, particularly transformational leadership, plays a significant role in shaping the effectiveness of such programs. Purpose. This research explores the influence of principal transformational leadership on teacher performance within the framework of service learning in higher education institutions. Method. The study aims to assess how transformational leadership behaviors of school principals impact the engagement and performance of teachers involved in service learning programs. Using a quantitative research design, this study surveyed 150 teachers across several higher education institutions that implement service learning programs. Data were collected through questionnaires that assessed principals’ leadership styles and teachers’ performance in service learning contexts. Results. The results indicate that transformational leadership has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance, particularly in areas related to motivation, professional development, and commitment to service learning objectives. Teachers reported higher levels of engagement and effectiveness when their principals exhibited transformational leadership behaviors, such as inspirational motivation, individualized consideration, and intellectual stimulation. Conclusion. This study concludes that principals who embrace transformational leadership can significantly enhance teacher performance, thereby strengthening the impact of service learning programs.

Abstract

Background: Climate change is one of the most pressing global challenges, with significant consequences for ecosystems, economies, and human societies. International environmental law plays a critical role in shaping global efforts to mitigate climate change by establishing legal frameworks for cooperation and action. However, the effectiveness of international environmental law in addressing climate change remains a subject of debate, particularly concerning the implementation of mitigation strategies at the national and global levels. Objective: This study aims to analyze the role of international environmental law in climate change mitigation efforts, with a focus on the key legal instruments and agreements that shape global climate governance. The research seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of these legal frameworks in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable environmental practices. Method: A qualitative research design was employed, using case studies, legal analysis, and interviews with environmental law experts, policymakers, and practitioners. The study examined major international agreements such as the Paris Agreement and the Kyoto Protocol to assess their impact on climate change mitigation efforts. Results: The findings indicate that while international environmental law has contributed to raising awareness and setting targets for climate change mitigation, the implementation of these efforts remains uneven, with many countries struggling to meet their commitments due to domestic challenges. Conclusion: The study concludes that international environmental law has been instrumental in global climate change efforts, but enhanced implementation mechanisms and greater international cooperation are necessary to achieve meaningful progress.
