Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the physical presence of classrooms shifted to virtual spaces, where it changed almost all methods of delivering learning materials. Elements of space and its supports that can usually be felt in the classroom, such as furniture configuration, wall colors, information boards, teacher's desks and chairs, and others, make the class irrelevant. However, as the situation improves, there is a gradual transition from online to offline learning methods. Previous research stated that students were not satisfied with the online learning system due to a lack of engagement. This study tries to identify and review students' perceptions when they return to the classroom, starting from their conditions, tendencies, and expectations of their classrooms so that learning process can take place well. The object of this research is an elementary school, namely SDN 03 Kepongpongan, located in Cirebon Regency. The method used is participatory design approach, where the main data is obtained through the distribution of questionnaires adapted to the characteristics of the children, interviews, discussion, and the results of documentation during the activity. From the results it was found that there was a low perception between students and their classrooms. The results of this study are students' perceptions of classrooms elements that can be used for the process of re-designing classrooms after the pandemic period.

Abstract

Evaluation Of Comfort And Accessibility Of Worship Space Circulation In Churches Based On Elderly Standards (Case Study: GKI Kebonjati Bandung). Elderly populations represent a vulnerable group requiring special consideration in public space design, including worship facilities. This study evaluates the comfort and accessibility of circulation in the worship space of GKI Kebonjati Bandung based on the standards from PUPR Regulation No. 14 of 2017. A qualitative descriptive  and comparative approach was employed through direct observation, physical measurements, and semi-structured interviews with five elderly congregants, The research reveals two key findings. First, physical conditions showed non-compliance with accessibility standards, including narrow side pathways (70 cm wide), absence of stair handrails, and insufficient seating spacing (30 cm). Second, despite these physical limitations, elderly users reported positive perception comfort due to self-adaptation and established usage patterns. These findings demonstrate that elderly comfort is determined not only by physical space adequacy but also by users' adaptive capacity. The study recommends physical improvements aligned with accessibility standards while establishing a foundation for implementing universal design principles in worship spaces.

Abstract

Currently, young families who live in major cities in Indonesia are experiencing a crisis of affordable housing due to limited land, high property prices and changes in the cultural values of urban communities. One of the efforts to deal with the crisis of affordable housing is to build limited-sized dwellings or micro-units, both landed houses and vertical housing. In big cities like Jakarta and Bandung, vertical housing or micro-apartments are an affordable option for young families. However, the limited size of the micro-unit is quite a debate because it is considered inadequate. Therefore, the aspect of liveability has an important role in micro-units. There have been several studies related to the liveability of micro-units. However, there is no research that examines micro-apartments specifically occupied by young families with a child in Jakarta and Bandung. The benefits of this research are knowing the interior factors that influence liveability also the responses and preferences of young families towards micro-units. This study aims to identify the interior factors that can be improved in the micro-apartments occupied by young families with a child in Jakarta and Bandung. The result of this research are expected to become a reference to optimized existing micro-apartments and developing new micro-units in Indonesia. This research is a quantitative descriptive study using survey methods in the form of questionnaires and typological analysis. Study results revealed that 60% of the respondents are satisfied with the living space size but still wanted some improvements. Space layout and furniture are the interior elements that needed to be optimized in micro housing. In addition, although color has a low priority for improvement, color has an important role in the formation of a space ambience, so it needs to be studied further.

Abstract

Interior design education has a critical role in creating competent graduates, specifically in the scope of professional interior design, who answer the problems of community needs through quality design ideas. Educational institutions need to ensure that the learning curriculum implemented can produce competent graduates following learning outcomes. ITENAS Interior Design, as one of the best interior design educational institutions in Bandung, plays a significant role in creating competent graduates who improve the community's quality of life and the residential environment. This sequential explanatory research evaluates the ITENAS Interior Design learning curriculum by assessing the performance of graduates in the Interior Design profession based on the educational curriculum components implemented during the study using a comparative descriptive approach. Overall, the Interior Design learning curriculum for the 2017 Academic Year of ITENAS does not meet the 'excellent' or very effective. The research results revealed that [1] ID ITENAS graduates from the 2016-2018 class had the best assessment in terms of attitude (89%) and could be further improved in terms of stance and independence, [2] The graduates' knowledge was considered to be quite good (66%) though the limitations are apparent from the aspect of technical problems and material treatments. [3] Lack of experience with real problems and a short work period means that graduates still need regular guidance, resulting in General Skills and Specific Skills scores being in the lowest positions (55% and 53%).
